Ladies, I have pondered for quite some time this topic, intuition and mensus....It occured to me recently that, maybe, women are, for the most part, more "intuitive" than males cause it is hormone based. The more a male is in touch with his femanine side (and they all have one, to lesser or greater degrees), the more intuitive he tends to be, from my personal experience. I think, probably, intuition is a human thing as hormones are...could they be related? I have begun my own research, online, with female friends and charting my own life as well. So far, what I have discerned is that we are very much more intuitive once the mensus has begun, and I have found myself to be just catywonkas in the head and unable to intuite anything just before mensus, which would be the end of the "cycle" and beginning of the next. I wonder if synthetic hormones have any affect on intuition, like birth control pills, HRT, etc. Your input is desired and appreciated! blessings t~~~ IP: Logged |

my intuition tells me "no" to birth control pills, i dont really question why. they just seem so obviously wrong to me. never linked intuition and menstruation. i thought it was perhaps long hair (hair as antennae?)IP: Logged |

Wow - what an idea!!! Very good topic hippichick! I haven't plotted any behaviour linking menses and intuition. But I could just about say my emotions become elevated and almost 'Uranian'. I am wondering if the 'psychic' moments I've had with others would have been when I was 'due'. I usually become really energetic the day before. I know today I am due (average 28 day cycle), and I have felt like making contact with a friend I miss. I have been thinking about them a lot today. I've had a lot of psychic moments over this person. It's kinda weird that I read your thread today!! Women tend to sync their cycles. I wonder if this is what helps connect us so closely. Intuition is based on empathy. Empathy is the ability to feel someone elses emotions. Female dominant hormones inspire nurturing qualities. The hormone oxytocin is released at birth to enable you to bond with the baby. Makes perfect sense to me. female hormones are designed to make you tune into others.Whereas the male dominant testosterone and androgen are just designed to make you want to beat the crap out of someone at the slightest provocation and go bald! I think this is a really good insight. It may be hormonal, but I also think women are more detail oriented. If a woman is a global thinker as well as seeing the little details that most people overlook she can see how all the little stuff adds to the big picture. Let's face it we have 100 words to describe the color brown. Show a swatch of taupe to a man and guess what color he will call it. Let say we see someone with trendy glasses and a great top with decent pants and then you look down and see a ratty pair of sneakers. A light goes off and tries to figure out what is really going on.We notice body language. Changes in tone of voice sometimes word choices. We have more nerves endings, percieve color better (some of us have a 4th cone in our eyes), we percieve taste better, sound better. Little girls can read facial emotions while many boys test as being very poor at determining what people's facial emotion intend. Our senses are naturally elevated!! Our senses have been tested during menses and they are more acute! We even are more sensitive to smell and our verbal abilities increase. Frequently men have blinders on and are oblivious to what's going on around them. I can't tell you how many times a man has cut in front of me in line not realizing that I was standing there. it's as if his thoughts were somewhere else. A woman would look around the environment, see my focus and ask "excuse me are you in line?" Men are more focused on themselves, competition, and see how the world relates to their needs, while women are more cooperative and see how everyone relates to everyone else. IP: Logged |

Thank you ladies, for your input. There is alot of research out there that corelates the cycle of the woman's mensus to increased times of intuition. One article said that while we are in our ovulation phase, when progesterone is the highest, we are more left brained, more task oriented, etc. And when we are in the beginning of the cycle, when mensus begins and estrogen is in dominance, we become more right brained, hence greater intuition. Another article said that when we begin to bleed, we are bleeding out knowledge, and went into a very physiological explanation about how "knowledge" is stored in the brain and eventually bled out via mensus, and with the bleeding out of knowledge, we get more intuitive, not having the knowledge to rely on and this corelates with the craziness we sometimes feel right before mensus. I don't know about this theory, but interesting, nontheless! I have known some highly intuitive men in my life, the most intuitive have been a Cancer, a Pisces and an Aquarian. Even tho, their intuition worked very subtly at a constant level and only the water signs regognized it as intuition and actually used it sometimes........but it was different than women's, a woman's intuition is more intense, more directed and we actually, well some of us, use it. Anyway, my research continues! Thanks again.. t~~~ IP: Logged | |
