I've been very moody and stressed lately as my graduation draws closer each day and I feel overwhelmed by everything that has been going on for the past two years. I asked my uncle who is the only person besides my cousin that I can talk to about spiritual and healing practices and he suggested I do some form of yoga to relieve me.I don't know much about yoga and I've never done yoga or any healing practices a day in my life and I was wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions that could help me. Thank you ^.^ IP: Logged |

yoga is for rational people, mostly for male or female with male mind, mostly of scientific mind... try Patanjalis yoga sutras (was a great Master)..
currently they say Ravi shankars - the art of breathing is good too. In Japan, children were were thought to focus on breadth if they were angry. Its a great tool.

I practice yoga asanas 5-6 times a week in a group class. It's just wonderful for increasing physical and emotional health and fitness. My suggestion would be to try some classes at a local yoga studio first. After you learn more about it, you can switch to a home practice if you want. IP: Logged |

I'm in the same situation, graduation is soon for me as well and I've been terribly overloaded with stress and anxiety. Luckily, last year I took a semester yoga class in the AM, and I can say it greatly improved my life.At the time I was experiencing severe pain in my shoulders and stress more than ever. I found the asanas we did in the morning and its effects on mind and body lasted all day. The most important things about yoga is your breathing and time. Don't ever rush because you can strain your body and you will not get the full effects of a well planned set. You can look for 'yoga asanas for anxiety' on Google, I found an awesome site that instructs you through them. As for breathing, the act of yoga is to breathe out pain and tightness and breathe in new life and energy. As you believe and focus, you will start to feel better more and more. At the end of the semester, all of my stress went away as did my shoulder pain. I even saw some weight loss. ------------------ I love my Virgo <3 S: Aries ASC: Libra M: Cancer V: Taurus M: Gemini IP: Logged |

If you wish to do Yoga as an exercise you can go to any site. If you wish to experience higher possibilities in your life, you can visit: www.ishafoundation.org and do the inner engineering program. Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev the founder is a realized master and makes yoga very simple and practical for our modern lifestyles. Yet the deeper aspects of yoga are always present in the simple practices.I have done the inner engineering program and am preparing for more advanced programs. I have been practicing this form of yoga for a year and a half and it has made a big difference in my life and my energy levels. IP: Logged |
