I've decided to spoil my hardworking liver by doing a 15 day liver cleanse. This is not the same as a Liver/Gallbladder flush, which I have done before and don't think I would like to do again any time soon - though I think they are good to do.

Our livers deserve some TLC every so often. I've been taking Milk Thistle regularly for awhile now, but still think my liver needs an overhaul. Here's more info on the cleanse I'm doing and why it's important to take care of yours:

Thisilyn Cleanse with Herbal Digestive Sweep, Clinical Strength Internal Purification, 15 Day Program, Nature's Way, 100% Natural
tandardized milk thistle extract is the most clinically researched supplement for supporting the liver.

Complete Whole Body Cleanse.
Easy 15-Day Program.
Purifies, Rejuvenates and Energizes.
Will Not Interrupt Your Daily Routine.
Optimal Dose of Thisilyn milk thistle extract for maximum cleansing power.
Easy Dispersion Fiber for comfortable capture of toxins throughout the bowel.
Natural, Vegetarian Formulas without common food allergens or preservatives. No yeast, soy, corn, wheat, rye, gluten or dairy products.
Complete Tri-Phase Program Contains:
WHOLE BODY DETOX • 30 V-CAPS
6-FIBER BLEND • 90 V-CAPS
DIGESTIVE SWEEP • 30 V-CAPS

About Herbal Digestive Sweep
Specially balanced to cleanse the bowel, the Digestive Sweep formula in this program contains Cascara sagrada bark.
How it works. Cascara sagrada helps stimulate muscles in the intestine, which encourages healthy bowel elimination.

Advantages. Cascara sagrada has the reliable strength to encourage healthy bowel elimination in most individuals. Because of its strength, it should only be used occasionally for periods of 10 days or less.

Your liver is key to effective cleansing.

Filters blood: Each minute nearly 2 quarts of blood pass through the liver for detoxification. When functioning properly, it clears 99% of the toxins, heavy metals, bacteria and other impurities before blood re-enters circulation.

Secretes Bile: Every day a healthy liver produces a quart of bile, which carries filtered toxins and cholesterol to the intestine. There they are absorbed by fiber and eliminated from the body through the bowel.

Neutralizes toxins: Through a complexity of enzymatic processes, a healthy liver neutralizes toxins directly or converts them into fat or water-soluble forms to be excreted from the body through the bowels or urine.

No cleansing program supports your liver better than Thisilyn Cleanse.

Optimal Potency: Standardized milk thistle extract is the most clinically researched supplement for supporting the liver, and Thisilyn Cleanse provides a clinically optimal dose. Its bioflavonoid complex (silymarin) promotes healthy liver function.

Superior Absorption: While most milk thistle extracts clump in the digestive tract, Thisilyn dissolves easily---yielding approximately two times more silymarin for the body to absorb. With the unique Thisilyn milk thistle extract, more silymarin reaches the liver to aid the cleansing process.

Purify, Rejuvenate & Energize quickly and easily with the complete Thisilyn Cleanse Tri-Phase Program.

PHASE I: Whole Body Detox
A perfectly balanced formula featuring Thisilyn, Artichoke, Turmeric, Dandelion and two proprietary herbal blends to support the cleansing of multiple body systems, including: the bloodstream, gallbladder, liver, lymphatic system, skin and urinary tract. Also promotes the transport of toxins and impurities to the intestine for capture by Phase II.

PHASE II: 6-Fiber Blend
Six natural dietary fibers (including LignaMax high-lignan flax powder) are combined in an easily dispersed formula to capture toxins and other impurities throughout the intestine. FOS (fructooligosaccharides) provides a powerful prebiotic boost to support the maintenance of healthy intestinal microflora.

PHASE III: Herbal Digestive Sweep
A unique digestive cleanse with Cascara sagrada, Triphala and Thisilyn to encourage the cleansing of impurities and toxins through the bowel, including those captured by fibers in Phase II. Soothing herbals are included to comfort this critical cleansing phase.

Why Cleanse? Every day your body is exposed to toxins that can build up inside. Some experts recommend an internal cleanse 3 to 4 times a year to remove impurities and restore balance. As a result, you feel Healthy, Refreshed & Energized!

Using Thisilyn Cleanse: For best results, begin taking all three formulas the same day. Drink plenty of water during the entire program. Thisilyn Cleanse takes just 15 days to complete.

maybe this will help cure my headaches. they have come back again.

The Symptoms of an Unhappy Liver

*Symptoms of mild liver dysfunction may occur even though all blood tests of liver function are `normal'. The tests that doctors use routinely to check the liver are not very sensitive - they check for liver damage rather than function.

*Common symptoms due to poor liver function are:

*Poor digestion, abdominal bloating, nausea especially after fatty foods, weight gain around the abdomen and constipation. Irritable bowel syndrome, associated with abdominal swelling and flatulence, is often due to a sluggish liver. If you wake up in the morning with bad breath and/or a coated tongue, your liver definitely needs help.

*Unpleasant mood changes, depression, `foggy brain' and impaired concentration and memory. If the liver is sluggish, excessive amounts of toxic metabolites find their way into the blood stream and can affect the function of the brain.

*Allergic conditions such as hay fever, hives, skin rashes and asthma.

*Headaches. Unfortunately, pain killers can cause further stress on the liver as the liver is the organ that breaks down all drugs.

*High blood pressure and/or fluid retention. These may be difficult to control with drug therapy. I have seen the Liver- Cleansing Diet bring down very high blood pressure to completely normal levels without any drugs being required.

*Hypoglycaemia or unstable blood sugar levels. An unhappy liver can cause wild fluctuations of blood sugar level with very low glucose levels causing fatigue, dizziness, light-headedness and cravings for sugar.
Inability to tolerate fatty foods, gallbladder disease and gallstones. If you feed your liver too much saturated or damaged (rancid) fat, it will try to pump it out of your body through the bile which flows into the gallbladder and then the small intestine. This will raise the cholesterol content of your bile and can result in gallstones (made of hard cholesterol) and gallbladder inflammation. If your liver is not working efficiently, it will not manufacture enough bile salts to keep biliary cholesterol in solution and so gallbladder stones may result.

*Fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome. When tired people cannot find a cause for their ill-health, in 99% of such cases I find that they are eating too much saturated and damaged fats and not enough raw vegetables and fruits.
Excessive body heat, which may be associated with sweating or body odour.

*Lowered tolerance to alcohol and various drugs such as antibiotics.

btw, the Milk Thistle I was taking was from Nature's Way
Nature's Way Thistle claims "superior absorbtion" compared to other brands.

"Most milk thistle extracts clump in the digestive tract, causing them to be poorly utilized by the body. But Thistlyn dissolves easily, yielding 2X the silymarin for the body to absorb for use in the cleansing process."

They make a variety of Cleansing and Daily maintinence thistle products.

If you are using a cleansing type, make sure you get enough fiber (some come with fiber) to carry the toxins out of your system. If you dont they will stay in your bloodstream and the liver will have to filter through them all over again and it doesnt need that extra work.

I read somewhere that the liver is the "seat of anger". This is curious and I will try to dig up more info.

Does Your Liver Need An Overhaul?
by Andreas Moritz

If you experience major persisting difficulties in your physical and emotional health, your liver may be congested with toxic compounds that are trapped in deposits of hardened bile. There is hardly any health condition that is not directly or indirectly linked with restricted liver performance. Any form of congestion in the liver may also result in fear, anger, impatience, greed, depression, dis-ease and cynicism. These expressions of discontent may indicate that the body is increasingly cut off from the circuit of nourishment and vital energy. Cleansing the liver of major impurities can help restore balance, harmony and happiness in every facet of individual life.

When the body speaks

Unlike the stomach, for example, the liver rarely tells you directly when it is upset or if it needs your attention. It does tell you indirectly, though, when it starts to perform poorly. A skin irritation, weak eyesight, a bowel problem, an irregular menstrual cycle, a recurring headache, weight gain, loss of energy, sudden aging, restricted blood vessels, bloated intestines, digestive problems, breathing difficulties, memory and concentration loss, pain in the joints, or any major illness such as heart disease, cancer, MS, diabetes or Alzheimer's, to mention a few, would not occur if the liver were in optimum shape.

In fact, because the liver is responsible for processing, converting, distributing and maintaining the body's fuel supply consisting of nutrients and energy, impeding these functions not only affects the body as a whole, but also the health of every single cell.

Through dietary mistakes, stress, an unbalanced lifestyle, the use of drugs and chemical poisons such as food additives and artificial sweeteners (Aspartame), the liver bile ducts become clogged with deposits of hardened bile or "gallstones." The resulting impairment of digestive functions reduces the nutrient supply to the trillions of cells in the body and may become a major cause of illness.

The liver cleanse

The liver flush mentioned here is a simple, safe and painless do-it-yourself procedure using mainly apple juice, olive oil, lemon juice and Epsom salts to dispel gallstones from the liver and, of course, also from the gall bladder.

Since introducing the liver cleanse to my patients, I have received countless testimonies expressing total amazement about the fast and profound healing effects it produces. They encouraged me to write a book on the subject. The book, which I named The Amazing Liver and Gallbladder Flush, includes the exact procedure and necessary background information for conducting such a cleanse.

My personal experience with the liver cleanse was quite amazing, too. During my first cleanse, I passed 500-600 gallstones, pea-size and larger, which had been impacting my liver for decades. Almost immediately, I was overcome by a simultaneous feeling of disgust, tremendous relief and euphoria.

Among numerous other complaints, which I almost had forgotten about because they had so much become a part of my life, the chronic backaches, indigestion and permanent numbness of my left leg disappeared (for good) and mental clarity reached unprecedented heights within several hours after the first cleanse. The positive effects continued to unfold and intensify after I passed another 3,000 or so gallstones during the following six cleanses.

I still feel perplexed about how I possibly could have survived with several handfuls of gallstones in my liver that were loaded with poisons, harmful bacteria and other noxious substances. Soon, I discovered that gallstones in the liver are more common than I ever could have imagined.

Gallstones in the liver

An estimated one billion people in the world will suffer gall bladder disease at some stage in their life. In the United States, 20 million adults suffer from attacks of gallstones every year. In many cases, treatment consists of removing the gallbladder, at the cost of $5,000 or more per operation. Yet there are many more people, including those suffering a chronic illness such as heart disease, arthritis, MS or cancer, who have hundreds, if not thousands of gallstones blocking the bile ducts of the liver. A liver congested with gallstones may be one of the most common, yet rarely recognized causes of illness today.

Most people assume that gallstones occur only in the gallbladder. This assumption is wrong. Most gallstones are actually formed in the liver and comparatively few occur in the gall bladder. This can be verified by anyone doing a liver cleanse, regardless of whether he/she is a lay person, a medical doctor, a scientist or someone who no longer has a gall bladder and is thought to be free of gallstones altogether.

I am repeatedly asked the intriguing question: Why in mainstream medicine is there is no reference for the occurrence of gallstones in the liver? The reason for this important "missing link" may lie in the theories of modern medicine that suggest gallstones can only be formed in the gallbladder and not in the liver. Of course, it doesn't help that the non-calcified hardened bile deposits (gallstones) congesting the liver bile ducts are invisible to X-rays.

Because bile and these stones are made of the same stuff, ultrasound scans also miss them. Only in some rare cases, where tens of thousands of stones have accumulated in the liver, has ultrasound technology been able to detect a few hundred of them. This makes modern diagnostic tools for detecting gallstones in the liver virtually ineffective.

On the other hand, a qualified iridologist, an Ayurvedic physician or a natural health practitioner who knows the signs and indications of gallstones in the liver and gall bladder can quite easily determine the degree of gallstone formation in these organs. But even in alternative or complementary medicine, there is rarely mention of an effective therapy that can actually remove gallstones safely and without pain. Even if all other disease-causing factors are eliminated, but gallstones are still present in the liver, they remain the harbingers of future illness.

Reaping the benefits

Anyone suffering any of the following symptoms or similar ones is likely to have hundreds, if not thousands, of gallstones blocking the bile ducts of the liver:

Food cravings, diarrhea, constipation, hernia, flatulence, haemorrhoids, breathing difficulties, hepatitis and other types of infection, high cholesterol, pancreatitis, heart disease, brain disorders, duodenal ulcers, nausea and vomiting, a "bilious" or angry personality, depression, impotence and other sexual problems, prostate diseases, urinary problems, hormonal imbalances, PMT and menopausal symptoms, problems with vision, puffy eyes, all skin disorders, liver spots especially on the back of the hands and facial area, excessive weight or wasting, strong shoulder and back pain, a pain at the top of the shoulder blade, frozen shoulder, stiff neck, dark color under the eyes, coated tongue, scoliosis, gout, asthma, headaches and migraines, tooth and gum problems, yellowness of the eyes and skin, sciatica, numbness and paralysis of legs, joint diseases, osteoporosis, obesity, chronic fatigue, kidney diseases, cancer, MS, ME, cold extremities, excessive heat and perspiration in the upper part of the body, very greasy hair, to name some.

By removing the stones through a series of liver cleanses (usually six to eight are sufficient to fully restore liver performance), and consequently maintaining a reasonably healthy diet and lifestyle, the liver returns to its natural efficiency, and most, if not all, symptoms of discomfort begin to subside. Energy and well-being notably increase with each cleanse.

Sweeping the liver clean eliminates thousands of bits of poisonous substances that have helped form the stones and block thousands of liver bile ducts. Cleansing the liver bile ducts from gallstones may indeed be one of the most important and powerful procedures around to dramatically improve one's health and raise the body's vibration. By re-opening the bile ducts, the body's energy circuits becomes restored and healing can take place on all levels of body, mind and spirit.

The liver flush involves fresh grapefruit juice. I love grapefruits, but after doing the flush I could barely even think about one without gagging. The smell of them almost sent me puking. It's quite a procedure too, but one I still think is well worth the time and effort.

This time I've decided to do it a different (and easier) way through this pill cleanse.

WOW!

quote:
Express yourself.

All unexpressed negative emotions create an acidic environment. "It's eating me up inside" Ever described a negative feeling or emotion this way?

Suppressed anger and resentment, particularly has been linked to the liver.

In Chinese medicine, The liver is the seat of anger, and it stores not only your anger but the anger from others, as well, especially your parents. The toxic energy stored in the liver affects the liver's function. Anger injures the liver's yin energy which results in a flare up of liver yang energy. This rising liver yang ascends to the heart and head--causing headaches, blurred vision, dizziness, and mental confusion. Irritability, a short temper, and outbursts of anger further damage the liver and create a cycle of disease and destructive emotional energy.

Love and understanding cleanse and heal the body creating an alkaline environment within you.

Different emotions affect different organs in the body.

TCM practitioners have spent over a thousand years correlating emotions and their effect on different organs in the body. These practitioners have found that treating the proper organ at the physical level improves our health at the other levels. Any emotions have a basis in our biochemistry. When we feel angry, this translates into a complex mixture of hormones and other chemicals, which go to various parts of the body, to ready it for action. Fear, jealousy, joy--all these emotions can have a profound effect on our body, depending on the strength and duration of the emotion.

THE PHYSICAL LEVEL OF HEALING

Since we are treating depression, we have to focus on the liver and eliminations. The liver, being the seat of anger, needs to be detoxified and relieved of the anger stored in it.

The Liver functions to:
1. Filter, detoxify, and nourish blood;
2. Regulate amount of blood in circulation, release blood when needed and store blood until needed;
3. Store sugar in the form of glycogen, released into the body as glucose when extra metabolic energy is needed;
4. Manufacture enzymes essential for optimum immunity;
5. Store all toxins the body takes in;
6. Receive all amino acids extracted from food by small intestine then recombine amino acids to synthesize various forms of protein required for growth and repair of bodily tissue;
7. Harmonize emotions and prevent emotional stagnation;
8. Control peripheral nervous system by regulating muscle activity and tension;
9. Control ligaments & tendons (along with muscles determines physical coordination);
10. Create bile, which breaks down fats;
11. Help maintain electrolyte and water balance;
12. Break down and eliminate excess hormones;
13. Control the smooth flow of Qi.

When the liver is overloaded, increased amounts of toxins circulate through the blood affecting most of our body systems. Our liver must transform the hormones released during emotional states, so they can be eliminated. When the liver is not functioning properly, emotional states that should come and go. stay around longer than necessary. When our environment is full of excess emotions, this puts a burden on the liver.

A healthy liver is associated with:
1. strong moist nails;
2. healty blood supply;
3. Musculoskeletal flexibility.

Liver impairment can manifest as:
1. Menstrual/Gynecological problems;
2. Thin, brittle nails;
3. Inability to relax;
4. Abnormal level of sexual energy;
5. Eye disorders, blurry vision.

THE EMOTIONAL LEVEL OF HEALING

The LIVER

Color - Green
Senses - Sight, (Eyes are external apertures)
Healing sound - SHHHHH

They say laughter is the best medicine for good reason. Our emotional states affect our physical body. The liver represents our desires and creativity. When healthy, we can respond to changes in a flexible manner; when impaired, we have a tendency to be overcontrolling/undercontrolling, rigid, inflexibile, irrational, irritable and short-tempered. Through visualization you can engage in a process of healing yourself emotionally. Bio-feedback allows your mind at an emotional level to change your bodies physical state. In this section we will give you two techniques for doing this.

The liver is the seat of anger, and it stores not only your anger but the anger from others, as well, especially your parents.

Since we're dealing with depression (anger), you will find the following techniques important and worthy of practice. We are going to lead you through some techniques to discharge the storage of anger in your liver. You will become acquainted with your liver and will be able to sense your liver in ways you've never experienced.

Healing Sound Technique

1. Find a comfortable, quiet place to sit with your hands in your lap (right over left). Find the location of your liver from the chart. Connect mentally to the location of the liver because the use of the healing sound and light for the liver will be employed. The better the connection, the quicker the results will be.

2. Practice your breathing as earlier explained. Bring your breath deeply (through your nose) to the bottom of your lungs and link up mentally to your liver. As you start to exhale, tilt you head back with teeth clinched, tongue to the roof of your mouth.

3. Exhale and sub-vocally (heard only internally) say SHHHHH. You may want to orally practice this sound for a while. The sound is like HUSH. Once you have used this sound for a while, it becomes easy to remember.

4. Repeat this technique at least 4 times. You may do it as many times as you wish but in multiples of 3. Your are ventilating the toxicity in your liver so the more you practice the greater the results. Practice it also during times of anger and stress.

The next technique will be coupled with the healing sound. Each organ has an associated color. The color for the liver is green--bright dark green--like emerald green. We will use two things to impact the liver-the smile-down and healing light. Think of an event in your past that was the funniest thing you've ever experienced. Just thinking about this event causes you to laugh. This is the smiling energy you'll use to help your liver. After doing the healing sound for your liver begin this technique.

Smiling Energy and Healing Light Techniques

1. Using the same breathing technique, take that smiling energy after a deep breath and hold the breath while smiling down into the liver.
2. Exhale through the mouth. Smile down into the liver as many times as possible, at least 3 times. Sense the energy in your liver.
3. Use the same breathing technique and inhale through the nose and breathe deeply into your lungs, hold, and look down into your liver and see it being covered with waves of emerald green light. Do this at least 3 times.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO END YOUR TECHNIQUES BY MOVING ANY EXCESS ENERGY INTO THE NAVEL.

On completion of the above listed techniques perform the following:

Stand, and walk around for a while.
As you are walking, use your hands and your thoughts to move the energy from your liver into your naval area.
These are some basic techniques that can detox the liver and remove the charge of anger stored there. With daily practice you'll find the depression lifting and the triggers that used to key your anger no longer working. Practice becoming the observer.

Healing the Self: Depression (last two posts & this one from: ) http://www.healingtheself.com/p157d.htm

THE MENTAL LEVEL OF HEALING

The mind can be a great builder or destroyer. The system you came out of helped create destructive mind sets which must be changed. Our brain is much like a computer. The programming from our past creates predictable results. That programming starts at birth and continues until we die. For depression, the mind set, or programming, is based upon those experiences of life. Those recordings of our past experiences will play a major role in our perceptions of events and behavior. When there is another similar event, our recordings of past begin to play, and we have a predictable outcome. Part of our programming perpetuates our depression. We also see ourselves as victims of all things-childhood, parents, husbands, wives, bosses, society, and events. We learn to react to those things in a very predictable way.

Reprogramming the "Old Tapes"
Unfortunately, we can't just erase the old tapes, but we can write over them. As an example, If I have a mind set of lack, I have lack. If I believe I'm unloved, them I'm unloved, etc, etc. As earlier stated, the mind is a powerful thing. Our experiences helped create that knowing, so we have to change our experiences--new experiences that have positive outcomes. We start by learning not to react to the old tapes and substituting new tapes in place of the old. Rather than reacting, practice becoming the observer of the old tapes and place stoppers in the old tape. You can control that tape by consciously stopping the internal dialogue and placing another tape to be played. The new tape has to do with a different perspective and outcome--through visualization. Create the event mentally by seeing it with a filter. This filter cleans out the old tape and leaves only the event as it is, without the tainted projections, assumptions, interpretations, or justification. The event just is!

With depression we usually have less mental power. Because of our suppressed anger, our programs are tainted and have little happiness or joy. Create a picture of the event(s) with different outcomes--then use positive affirmations. "I choose to break free of my past and experience life from a positive perspective."

THE SPIRITUAL LEVEL OF HEALING

With depression most people are disconnected from that spiritual link. To open this link to God, practice the breathing techniques. God has always been there, but we're the one that has closed that channel. The things that have wounded us, the conditions we are in, and our negative experiences were not God's punishment. God's love for us is so great that he/she has allowed us to live out our issues without interference. The wounds are from man, not God. The parents didn't know that to the child they were God. They fell short and so does man. By doing this work you can link up with God and carry a lighter burden. Ritualize more things in your life--giving thanks for what you do have, and you'll be led to Grace. With practice and more technique you'll discover and be led into the Stillness.

Dr. Schultze and what's left of your liver

"Every second of every day it filters, traps, neutralizes, kills and eliminates poisons in your blood that you inhale, ingest and absorb. From common poisonous chemicals in the home, workplace or even on your dinner plate.to prescription drug residues [and vaccines], air pollution and worn out blood cells, there are literally millions of toxic trash bits in circulation all over your body. If your Liver didn't continually remove this garbage, you would be dead in hours! Modern Living attacks your liver with a constant toxic chemical barrage. This chemical exposure kills your liver cells and causes liver damage and disease. When your liver weakens, it can't do its job and then chemicals and poisons pass unchecked into your bloodstream, to your brain, heart, lungs, bones, reproductive organs, literally every organ and cell in your body.”

~Dr. Richard Schultze

quote:
I have been collecting natural healing basics for the past 25 years and have incorporated much of this material in my class, “Optimal Wellness With Herbs.” What I have found over the years is that peoples' livers and gallbladders are in even worse shape than their colons (if that is possible). The reason for this is that the liver filters toxins and impurities from our blood. A clean bloodstream is THE key to sound health. I love the way Dr. Schultze starts out his newsletter (See italics above).

If you read last month's Back to Basics column and have not embarked on a colon cleanse or called 1-800-HERB-DOC for his products and newsletters, the following true story regarding Dr. Schultze's experience dissecting and examining cadavers will hopefully inspire you:

“Often in bodies of people over 60 the internal organs are in such a mess it is difficult for students to identify things. They smell so bad students would run from the room and sometimes vomit. One time I had a student actually vomit in the cadaver, which in turn evoked almost every student in the class to involuntarily start vomiting all over the laboratory. After that incident I almost always tried to get the bodies of younger people killed prematurely due to an accident rather than disease so the internal organs would be more normal and less diseased.

“What was surprising to me at first was how many such young, supposedly healthy individuals, would have fairly normal looking internal organs, but when you got to the liver and gallbladder, well it was like an alien encounter.

“Often the liver was shaped drastically different, swollen much larger than normal, filled with bloody fluids, pus, tumors, scar tissue and parasites. Sometimes there was so much swelling that the liver had doubled in size and extended way beyond its normal area, even down into the area normally occupied by the spleen and colon.

“The gallbladder was often really quite frightening to students, again being stretched way out of shape, often doubled in size, hemorrhaging internally and filled with coagulated liquid fats, pus, blood, gallstones, worms, and just ungodly goop that was literally unidentifiable. Every student was shocked to see such advanced disease and degeneration in such young, supposedly healthy people.”

So if this was observed in supposedly healthy, young people several years ago before chemtrails, just imagine the shape that your liver and gallbladder are in now; especially if you are experiencing health problems. With all the talk of strengthening your immune system, doing an annual colon cleanse, nourishing your liver and doing a gallbladder flush is also vital in keeping your body disease-free.

Not only that, but each diseased organ tends to have a correlation in the spiritual plane as well. The liver is especially significant since it is the seat of anger, especially repressed anger. As we move through these “latter days” it is important to transmute this repressed anger into positive action. Use what your life's experiences have been to help another going through similar experiences. Develop networks of like-minded folks. Help one another, and work on moving your “grudges” towards another person into compassion and forgiveness, “for they know not what they do.” This really is the key, and I know from personal experience.

DETOX: CLEANSE YOUR LIVER!!Why the Liver?

The liver is the second largest organ in the body (second only to our skin) and performs anamazing array of functions. It filters blood, forms bile for fat digestion and metabolisestoxinsforexcretion.Every drug,pesticide,hormone,foodsub-stance and chemical is broken down or metabolized by the liver cells. If these substancesare not processed by the liver, they will be stored in the fat tissues and cell membranes of the body.

The danger of these substances being stored is that they will be released duringexercise, stress, and fasting and can then hurt the body.

This can cause unwantedsymptoms.Some general signs and symptoms of liver toxicity: Fatigue, sluggish metabolism, headaches, muscle pain, sore red eyes, paleness, dizziness,brain fog, indigestion, tingling hands/feet, inflammation, allergies, cancers, constipation,coated tongue, PMT, hormonal imbalance, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, fluid retention, bloating, bad breath, nausea, weight gain, depression, mood swings, itchy skin,blood sugar fluctuations, liver spots, spider vein clusters.

Not pretty is it?Rumour has it a fair few of you at Flight Centre give your livers a hefty workout with alcohol, chemicals, bad foods and stress playing a big part.So, undertaking a mild detox needn’t be harsh/affect your lifestyle too much.Follow these general tipsFollow these tips for two to three months and you may notice weight loss, brighter eyes,increased energy and clearer skin.

Lifestyle:•

Exercise: Get your heart rate and circulation moving. This helps circulate and removetoxins.• Relaxation: Massage also is excellent for removing toxins. Ask your massage therapistfor more specific therapies e.g. lymphatic massage if you think you have an excesstoxic load.• Baths: Bathing in general can help the elimination of toxins. Also try once weekly Epsom salt baths for no longer than 15mins. Epsom salts help draw toxins out of the body, but any longer than 15mins will dehydrate you.• Dry skin brushing: The skin is the largest organ in the body and a major organ of detox.As toxins are removed through the pores of your skin it is important to clear away deadskin. Regularly brush your skin in circular motions towards the heart – use a naturalskin brush only, not synthetic.• Calm the Mind and eliminate negativity:

The liver is also known in many medicaltraditions as the ‘seat of anger’ – many toxic people have short fuses, and alcoholicsflare in to alcoholic rages. When you detox you may notice symptoms of anger, orslightly more irritation than normal. Witness this and try and manage your mind andcalmness with activities such as exercise, breathing exercises, meditation, tai chi, yoga.Learn to let go.

okay, i know it's starting to get repetitive here, but i find this all oddly fascinating.

Liver facts:

Signs that your liver may not be functioning properly include:

Intolerance to greasy and spicy foods
Weight gain
Frequent headaches
Indigestion
Chronic constipation
Skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis or skin rashes
Bowel problems
Sinus and allergy problems

As the disease progresses, and liver function is increasingly diminished, it's common to experience fatigue, weight loss, exhaustion, nausea, weakness and loss of appetite. In addition to these symptoms, loss of
liver function affects the body in other ways, such as:

Edema (swelling) in the legs (i suffer from this occassionally, as did my dad)
Bruising
Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
Itching, caused by bile products deposited in the skin
Gallstones
Toxins in the blood or brain, which can lead to dull mental functioning, personality changes, coma, and even death (check )

What a fabulous resource you've given us here, T!!
I've had liver problems, and it's still swollen to this day. I've been taking milk thistle for about 8 months now, and it makes a big difference -- I have much less discomfort. The fast/detox I did a week ago aggravated my liver (understandably) and even though it was recommended that no other herbs be taken during the detox I took the milk thistle anyway. I've tried several brands -- from Eclectic Institute and Nature's Bounty -- and both have had positive effects. I've also been taking turmeric, but mainly for my borderline high blood pressure.

I think I may try the flush you're doing -- please report back on your progress!!

And many thanks for taking the time to share this treasure-trove of information

Very informative.

The liver is the most adaptable organ in the body they say. it rebulds itself even when a majority of it is eaten up , the doctors says. Hep virus is different story.

I was thinking of cleansing too. But not doing it until its absolutely required.

ooh my aching liver. no, not really, but i have been feeling odd light cramping in that area, so i believe it's doing some good.

Z, I'd give it a shot especially seeing as youve had liver problems. Keep us posted if you do. I'll update more when these fifteen days are up.

Mannu, yeah, that's what i've heard. And "not doing it until its absolutely required" ..... ?! is that any way to treat your "vehicle"?? I hope you don't treat your car that way.
