It works. I love his no nonsense approach too. I picked up the CD version of the book the other day from B&N for $20 - the book is $15.

No hypnosis. Trauma and fear free. No nicotine gum or regular gum or candy. You will not need willpower. You will not gain weight. You will not feel deprived. You will need no gimmicks, shock or substitutes. You will not suffer withdrawl pangs.

Carr shatters all the illusions about smoking. I like his common sense approach and how he dispels all myths about how hard it is to quit and the brainwashing around smoking.

You will actually ENJOY quitting. And be amazed at how easy it was to do, wonder what took yourself so long. This addiction is very sneaky as he explains. And even if you only smoke occasionally or are a social smoker, you are still on the hook and can be worse off than a regular smoker.

I highly recommend his book or book on CD.

Of course the ALA, tobacco companies, government and Cancer researchers etc, do not want this info to be spread about.

25 years...10,000,000 success stories
Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking seminars, webcasts and books have helped an estimated 10,000,000 smokers from all walks of life quit easily and enjoyably.

Some well-known advocates of Allen Carr's Easyway method include: Sir Anthony Hopkins, Ashton Kutcher, Harvey Weinstein, Demi Moore, Liam Neeson, Goldie Hawn, Ellen Degeneres, Lou Reed, Natasha Richardson, Julie Christie, Stewart Copeland, Aidan Quinn and Anjelica Huston.

Founded in 1983 by Allen Carr, a former chain-smoking Chartered Accountant, today there are over 150 Easyway centres in over 40 countries around the world. Every year over 50,000 smokers attend an Easyway session. The Allen Carr's Easyway seminar has the highest recorded success rate of any quit smoking program.

In March 2008 the first Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking webcast was launched. Designed to bring the experience of an Allen Carr's Easyway seminar to smokers without access to a seminar centre, the webcast is a complete and effective quit smoking program in itself.

Allen Carr's books, based on the seminar have been #1 bestsellers in countries as diverse as UK, Holland, France, Germany, Russia and Japan. His best known work, Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking, has sold over 8 million copies.

We are well aware that an "easy way" to stop smoking sounds too good to be true, so we hope that you take some time to take a look through some of our testimonials and what the media says about the Easyway method.

How it works

The Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking seminars have the highest success rate of any independently verified quit smoking method. Led by former smokers who themselves quit using this method, the Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking seminar guides smokers through a process by which they can completely eliminate their need or desire to smoke.

We achieve this by working with smokers to reframe the way they perceive smoking. For example, most smokers believe at some level that smoking relieves stress. So long as anyone believes this they will have a desire to smoke in a stressful situation and will need to use willpower to overcome that desire. This in turn creates a conflict: they're trying to quit, but desperate to smoke. This conflict creates the many miserable symptoms associated with smoking - irritabilty, panic, depression and so on.

If, however, we are able to successfully challenge and replace the belief that smoking relieves stress, then it becomes possible to have no desire to smoke in a stressful situation, and with no desire to smoke it does not take willpower not to do so and the physical symptoms created by conflict never materialise. And it can be much easier than you think to change these beliefs.

We teach people to see quitting not as the loss of a friend , but as killing an enemy. With this mindset quitting is not only easy, it can also be surprisingly enjoyable. We strongly encourage you to read some of our testimonials and our media coverage.

Why it works

Allen Carr's Easyway works because it approaches the problem from a smoker's perspective. In fact, Easyway is often referred to as "a smoker's way to stop smoking'.

Instead of bombarding smokers with yet another lecture on lung cancer, we look at the beliefs smokers have that create and sustain the desire to smoke, and ask the simple question: are these beliefs true? To look again at the above example, if smoking is supposed to relieve stress, then why aren't smokers less stressed than non-smoker?

With Allen Carr's Easyway you will realize that quitting smoking is all about changing perspective. Quite simply, if you can learn how to see smoking the way a happy non-smoker sees it, then you can find it every easy to stop.

His personal story is one I can relate to (though i didn't smoke nearly as much as he did). If he, with a 100 cigarette per day habit can quit instantly and easily, anyone can. I know the thought of giving them up so quickly can seem too traumatic and hard, but he explains why it's the best - or only way. He even encourages you to smoke while you are reading (or listening) to the book and just get ready to make that final decision once and for all - after you have all the facts.

Can I just say - his book helped me to quit?

I've also given it to FIVE people - all heavy smokers, one who was absolutely insanely addicted to smoking, and all have quit (one still has the book at the moment).

Anyone who wants to quit should seriously read this book - it will work.

But you must follow the instructions *exactly*.

I noticed this thread a little while ago and have come a little late, but thanks 26taurus for sharing the great info. I am not a smoker, never have been, but this is surely good news for smokers!

Sad news. I'm embarrassed to say, I slipped. I caved under pressure. It has nothing to do with this system not working, that's for sure. It's my fault and I know this way will work for me. I plan on quitting within a day or two - listening to the CD's over again for support.

Please wish me luck. I have a terribly strong physical addiction to overcome.

Good luck, T!! You are one strong woman and will overcome anything you want to...

I would have been all over this book if I hadn't gotten pregnant. I quit for my birthday, Jan. 21st, and then found out I was carrying, so I have not even thought about smoking since then, makes me want to vomit. But of all the times I've tried to quit in the past 10 years, I know how hard it is...

26taurus,

I wish you the best of all with your will power to get rid of cigarettes. It is a heavy addiction but you are, like Ghanima81 said, a strong woman, and above all, you are being honest with yourself and others, that means a lot to your path to personal growth. You are in my thoughts and I'm sending you white light. Keep the faith and you will make it! One step at a time

The opposite of love is indeed hate, not indifference, for indifference is a form of detachment, and both love and hate are two forms of attachment, and detachment is naturally the opposite of both the two forms of attachment. There are many theories of the relationships between love and hate, but ultimately, hate is death force, which creates untimely or chronic destruction; whereas love is life force, which brings life.

Thank you both.

Today's the day!

Glad to hear you kicked the habit Ghani. Hopefully the thought of them will make me want to vomit soon too.

Hello 26T and all

I stopped smoking about 2.5yrs ago and have never had one since.

It was probably just circumstantial that I kicked it and I still plan to take it up in my old age - gonna go out with a bang, got ura/plu/sun/mer in 8th, so yeah maybe a massive coronary/cerebro-vascular/respiratory distress incident with surgery mixed up somewhere in that, I feel obliged to accommodate it, haha! Oh yeah, venus on the 8th cusp in Virgo, so I'm thinking a very nice funeral complete with neatly written invitations, heh. Oh I have jupiter in the 6th so the 'c' word might swing in as well.

Anyway, the way I gave up seemed to work, and I was smoking seriously when I gave up. I was on cigarillos and roll your own pouch tobacco. I smoked outside and would generally have 2-3 items in one sitting for convenience.

What I did was drink weak tea by the pot every 2hrs or so. I normally don't drink by the pot but what worked was for me to make up a tray with a good sized pot, and a small teacup and saucer. I would drink about 3-4 small weak teacups(one tea bag per pot in strength). And I never looked back.

Still, it just fell into place so maybe it wasn't the tea at all.

Thanks Chryseis,

Drinking tea is a great idea. I should pick up some detox tea anyway. I'm going to make sure i drink more water at least.

Also, my chart shows that i must quit too. An astrologer warned me years ago and suggested I quit then. I've got a couple left and after them, i am done. Going to listen to the CD's again and get in the right head space in a minute.

And I dont know how old you are, but you might not take smoking back up when you get old because by that time, i wouldnt be surprised if a single pack cost $20. Cigarette prices have skyrocketed here anyway.

I'm going to grow it. One of my work friends grows tobacco successfully.
