Please be-ware friends.

In my 9 years as a nurse, I have had the unfortunate experiences of witnessing one and one on the way deaths of acetaminophen overdoses...the first unintentional, the one today, very intentional.

(both young ladies in their prime of lives)

People think this product is harmless, kid you not, it is very harmfull!

I take ibuprofen, personally, would rather deal with a stomach ulcer than liver failure.

I hear, and my friends in the UK, correct me if my information is incorrect, that now the UK is only dispensing in push packs and only in limited quantities. This would be wonderful and may discourage unintentional overdose of the product!

Intentional, or (unintentional) overdose is usually correctable,IF one gets to the ER intime, but it is so sad that often individuals really not wanting to kill themselves will take acetaminophen, thinking it is a cry for help and they end up in a horrible way, and death due to liver failure with this product is a most horrible death.

be-ware friends.

Thanks Sun, for reading.

Most folks do not know of the toxicity of this "drug."

I just want folks to know what I know and have experienced, which is the horrible, awful, outcomes of too much of this particular drug.

btw this far, far beats the devestating effects of "street" drugs I deal with in my job...far, far exceeds the (potential) devestating effects of even black tar heroin.

CEW

Actually, aspirin is what folks are instructed to take for heart health...and in the event of a heart attack.

And yes, it is in all kinds of OTC medications!

I watched, some weeks ago, a segment of The World News...they were going around, interviewing people on acetaminophen...most folks replied they just took another, more and more if the first does did not work...all folks did not know the lethality of the drug.

One MD interviewed said it is so "lethal" to the public cause the maximum does comes way too close to the toxic dose!!!

All in all, it was stated that the FDA was reviewing acetaminophen, it's doseages, etc.!

GOOD!!!

Nasty drug! (when not used appropriately)

Hi nurse hippichick, thanks for this. One of my good friends had had enough of being in this painful dimension so she chugged a bottle of Tylenol as an exit strategy. Well, it worked, if not rather painfully for her. She ballooned up terribly there at the end. I am sad that she was in so much pain in life, and now she still has to learn it all over again (I don't believe that one can escape their lessons, only postpone them).

`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'
