Hi Yin I remember some time ago there was a discussion here somewhere's about curing inflammation naturally. Of course I can't find it but I remembered that you asked someone how they kept inflammation at bay.
What works for me is taking crushed raw garlic but it really is hard to swallow so what I have done is mix it with some honey & ginger which makes it much more palatable. Take it like you would antibiotics ie; with meals & 3 times a day for 2 weeks. Garlic is a nonspecific antibiotic & will heal any infection. You can use the stuff that is in a jar or tube if you don't want to have garlic smelling fingers lol. I do & it works just fine. I have to warn you that it has a strong affect & will kill all the bacteria in your stomach so I recommend taking a strong probiotic capsule about 2 hours after taking the garlic mixture. I hope this has been helpful Yin Spanky

Hi Spanky, Thank you so much for the advice and the recipe! I shall try it. I was also thinking of taking GSE (Grapefruit seed extract). Garlic also lowers my blood pressure and makes me really sleepy so I have to be careful with it. But maybe the honey will make a difference. I also LOVE yogurt. Actually I love garlic and yogurt together! Hopefully one doesn't cancel the other one out. I'm mentioning it because of the acidophilus reference. IP: Logged |

have you tried vinegar? organic raw apple cider vinegar especially, a tsp in a glass of water 3 times a day, or you can put a cup or so in bath water and bath in it.vinegar helps your body balance its ph which robs inflammatory conditions of their breeding ground. IP: Logged |

You're welcome Yin. Garlic & yogurt should be fine in fact I think it would be a good balance.
How you use the garlic is entirely up to you & your tolerance level for the strength of dose. It's so pungent, hence my recipe for those that cannot handle it. I'm taking it myself at the moment for a chronic throat infection. Sadly this is a last resort for me due my mother being so vigilant with antibiotics when I was little. Now my face blows up when I take them. Cayenne pepper in a glass of luke warm water & a spoon of honey will work well in conjunction with the garlic & promote faster healing. To Kat, I must give a warning about taking ACV. I used that remedy & enjoyed it but the side affect was a massively dangerous depletion of my calcium levels & the symptoms are not pleasant. Heart palpitations, muscle weakness etc. It took me a long time to recover from it.
So do take with caution & supplement with calcium/magnesium. IP: Logged |

Hi Spanky, I meant to ask you, doesn't the garlic get old and more pungent with time? I love the smell of fresh crushed garlic cloves but it gets really stinky after a while. Does the honey have a preserving effect on it?Kat, thank you for the idea. I know that ACV is used as a universal remedy for many things. It is said to alkalize your blood and level off your body's pH. I recently listened to an interview on YouTube with Daniel Vitalis (granted not a MD) who was skeptical of alkalizing. The body's natural pH is slightly acidic and tipping the scales the other way too much can upset that balance to a point of disease.

that is why vinegar is so useful...it doesn't alkalize per se, but BALANCES your ph. in fact like an adaptogen it will bring it into a more acid place if you are too alkaline...and its dead cheap!!of course overdoing anything is not advised!! i have never heard that about calcium but i get a LOT of calc/mag so tend not to worry about it...being sick also depletes you of minerals etc!
