Some of you may have read my rather self pitying thread a couple of days ago about how ugly and fat I felt. Well I have decided to do something about it, to get off my bum and work out!
I am going down the gym tomorrow to join but don't really know what to do once I get there. I want to lose weight but I want to really reshape my body so that when I lose weight I have slim, sexy curves in all the right places!
All advice and recommendations diet, work outs and websites gratefully recived! I have about 50lbs to lose.

Especially tips on how to trim saddle bags, lift breasts, get shapely legs, flat tum and nicer, rounder bum .... the works basically!

P.S. I don't eat meat but other than that I am open to anything!

I am taking
thedietsource
in breakfast - fruits like watermelon, blueberries, strawberries
in lunch - plain yoghurt, cucumber and carrots
1 hour daily in gym
helped me to loose 4 pounds in 1-2 months

I could not take light dinner that is why I could not loose much. I take my full dinner.

Warm up for 5 mins.
Start with one set of ten reps, one exercise per body part on weight machines.
Build up to 3 sets 10-12 reps by 6th gym visit.
Start with 10 mins cardio building up to 20 mins AFTER the weights.
If you do cardio first you end up wasting 20 mins burning glycogen in your muscles before you switch to burning fat.
Do this for 2 weeks.
Then
Change weight training routine (ask instructor at gym for different exercises)
Warm up for 5-10 mins again but after each 2 weight exercises jump on a piece of cardio equipment and do 10 sec slow 20 secs flat out and repeat for 3-4 mins ONLY then back straight away on weights.
Finish with 15 mins interval cardio.
3-4 times per week.
If you have 50 lbs to lose you are probably endomorphic body type and only interval training will help.
Do not fear weights and do not listen to the steady state cardio for endless hrs crap.
Endomorphs are like 24 hr candles.
Their bodies are designed to plod along forever burning minimal fat.Like a car in 5th gear cruising down the freeway.NO! You need to be in 2nd gear doing 70 miles an hour with your pedal to the metal!
Make your body do what it doesn't like doing which is short sharp bursts of speed then it will shock it into dropping weight.

Cut your high density carbs (bread pasta rice)down to breakfast ONLY.
Vegetables and protein ONLY in the evening.
The carbs we allow ourselves now is based on a lifestyle we had 50 years ago when we worked on friggin' farms not the fat ass lazy lifesyles we have now!
You need to teach it how to start metabolising that 50 lbs of stored fat not cheerfully piling more quicker and easier supplies of food.
Oh and this is the most important thing.
Quit whining, get out of your own way and just do it

Thanks for the advice! Going to be tough to give up carbs though as I don't eat meat or fish. Can I have pulses or wholegrain pasta/rice etc?

Yes you can, but still do it like I said. You don't have to give up carbs (that's bad) just make sure that you eat the higher density one's earlier in the day when your body will utilise them.
Protein sources include egg, quorn etc and you could maybe have an omelette with a salad or veg for your evening meal.
I know exactly what your problem is by your reply!
When people ingest too many carbs to fuel their lifestyle so that the excess gets stored as fat the first thing they say when you suggest this is
"Noooo...I love carbs!
Well let me give you a little analogy.

You have a fire (old fashioned open type)
You have a pile of paper by the side of it (carbs)
You throw these on, the fire flames brightly but is hungry for more in a few mins.
You have outside a shed that is full of coal(stored fat) But it's a nuisance to go out there in the cold, fill a bucket and put it on the fire. It will last much longer though when you do and the fire will not be hungry for hours.
What most people do is keep throwing paper at the fire.
You need to get up and go to your shed (fat stores) And the way to do this is to not supply your body with the fuel it can use easiest.
You have to teach it to go to the shed!!
Do you follow?
This way you will lose weight.
Trust me.
Oh and don't start any weight loss/fitness plan with a negative straight away.

"I will find it difficult to cut down on carbs"
Sure you will.
But it's a conscious choice. Stay the way you are or don't?
Like I said before "Get out of your own way!

Is it possible to cycle to work? (if you work). I do 10 miles a day which sounds a lot but isn't. It is the best aerobic exercise and doesn't strain your joints. Plus, if you're using cycling as a commuting tool, you can't get off your bike if you feel tired, you have to get there, so you build strength this way. What I have found as a result is that I value my body as a machine, a tool. And I want to look after it. Personally I don't get that from gyms.

I'm in the UK, if you'd like info about off-road routes for cycling in your area (I work in this field) then let me know, be pleased to help.

Stop eating when full, don't eat when you're bored, eat the right foods, no fast food whatsoever, avoid fried,...do yoga, cardio, and weights and Be Happy with yourself. Don't think of punishing your body but rather you're doing yourself a favor.
