Some thoughts going through my mind today while walking.

Depression occurs on two levels. Negative thoughts...which create unpleasant feelings. It also occurs on a physical level- a lack of serotonin in the brain or hormone imbalances....and sometimes both. When the physical body is affected, negative thoughts can be triggered or increased. Likewise, when we are suffering from stress, the mind can also affect the body.

By increasing positive thinking, and focusing on the beauty in the world rather than all the bad in it, our mind can override feelings created by the physical. Although the various balances in our body affect how we feel, consciousness is what creates feeling.

So, the most important thing in overcoming depression is to find the root cause of it, to go within. We must be ruthless and unafraid when confronting our own fears, bringing them to surface and staring them straight in the eye. This way, we can eliminate them for good, rather than just bury them temporarily only to have them still causing problems beneath the surface, later to arise again. Confronting them in this way can feel more painful in the short run than avoiding them, but is far more successful in the long run.

I received some wonderful energy from your post.

Have you ever thought about writing about it? Writing a book? If you keep layering in the deeper details you'd have something very special that people in the world could benefit from.

LTT - I found this in one of my favorite books from the Hazelden Meditation Series, "The Promise of a New Day."

"Noble deeds and hot baths are the best cures for depression."
- Dodie Smith

Preoccupation with ourselves exaggerates whatever condition presently haunts us. The temptation to dwell on our pain is so great, it takes strength and a serious commitment to emotional health to move our focus to another's needs. We are slow to learn that our own pain is soothed each time we offer comfort to another in pain.

Periods of depression will foster compassionate thoughtfulness, if we're willing to take advantage of the natural inertia that accompanies the blues. Our moments of stillness give us time to take note of another's condition. And it's through consideration for another that our wounds are cleansed and healed.

Rarely do we offer rapt attention and sincere concern to the troubled individuals in our lives. And yet, each one traveling our same or parallel pathway needs the attention that only we can give. Our own spirit is nourished every time we offer love to someone else.

Day's focus: Well-being, my own and someone else's, will be fostered by my actions today.

(My own advice is to know that every act of service, no matter how great or small is of significance to the Divine. Do not be in judgement of your own acts in good service or the acts of others in good service. The microcosm of being in service to one is to the macrocosm of being in service to the universe (I serve ONE) This service truly originates in treating ourselves with kindness. Therefore, it is also important to have balance in service, so that one is not overextended and stressed.
Rest and rejuvenation is a necessary part of the process in creating Love. Genuine, heartfelt love is a magical elixir. Love that is purified is unique, a customized blend, that arises from the truth of our very own being. The restoration of Love is the manifestation of a miracle (I AM CLEAR).

Love & Wellness to you!

Thank you for sharing that, Mermaid

I think that a lot of the depression I personally have experienced is also linked to a lack of clarity, and a very deep feeling of pain/ anxiety/ frustration due to this. I have become interested lately in activating my pineal. I must reclaim my inter-dimensional birthright!

You are a born seeker and I know you'll get that clarity you seek as long as you keep doing your spiritual work. Without fog we wouldn't know a clear day. Living a full life is a life full of comparative experiences.
Blessings.
