Hi,

I have been reading up on immunizations and am strongly leaning towards not vaccinating my baby. Please recommend websites or books on the subject, as it seems most of what I have read contains a lot of biases.

If I am especially worried about the Dtap vaccine's side effects of seizures, no matter how rare they may occur. I read an article about Pertussis being on the rise in my State (California), and am also worried about my six month old baby catching the disease w/o the vaccine. My baby is cared for at home by my husband and myself and has been breastfed since birth. Any suggestions & tips are very much appreciated.

i don't know if the pertussis vaccine has changed since my daughter's time...over 20 years ago!! but she had a nasty reaction to it and as it came in three doses i discontinued after the first....

the mmr vaccine has been implicated in autism and the COMBINATION of mmr and chicken pox (given at the same time as is pretty normal these days) is implicated in the rise of ITP, a blood-clotting disorder that can be very short-lived or chronic (lasting years) and seriously interferes with the "normal" activities of young children...

I have a son with autism.
If I could go back and change things I would have never immunized him. I
I have a friend with a little girl he's never immunized and she's healthy.
It angers me that the rate of children with autism has increased at a pretty fast pace over the years.

In the end it's your choice, but good for you for reading up on it.

Phoenix,

I have a 2.5 year old who has never been vaccinated and she has never been sick, what I mean by that is her immune system has never been compromised, so she has never contracted any type of infection or disease, cold or flu. I am very confident that she is not going to contract any rare disease that we as adults are vaccinated against. My own mother simply did not have the information to make informed choices. Also if you look at the vaccine situation and the situation with natural wisdom, it is obvious what to do. I am also pregnant with a baby who will not be given any injections. My Fathers side of the family was raised by a woman who never vaccinated any of her children, they are all healthy adults who have amazing immune systems and tolerance for anything life throws at them.
I myself have been vaccinated, my side affects include a lazy right eye, asthma, allergies, and weak immune system.
Side affects vary person to person, the worst is death, then autism (mercury poisoning), mental fog, and a badly wounded immune system.
Vaccines do not strengthen the overall immune system, vaccines just educate our immune cells about a possible infection in the future so it knows what to do to fight it off, it will be easier for the fighter cells to do their job, but overall, it's devastating thing to inject into a body temple.

Very well put SunChild..

I was vaccinated and all of my kids unfortunately were.
My 3 boys all have ADHD, one is autistic, and I have ADD and diabetes.

I don't think the diabetes part plays into the vaccines, but I am suspicious of the ADD/ADHD and autism.

Thanks T

Winks, sorry to hear that about your son, I would be just as suspicious too. have you considered heavy metal detox for your son? Zeolites were the front runner, but now adya clarity is a hundred times more effective. At least it may help him reduce some symptoms. David Wolfe, dr. Mercola, and dr, Doug Graham all have treated people with those clay products with varying degrees of success but always with improvement.

Thanks SunChild!

My autistic boy is now 16 and if he lived with me I would love to have experimented with various treatments. I've heard of a couple of treatments including sensory treatment.
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/04/080425102403.htm

But he lives with his Dad in another state and I'm not on speaking terms with his Dad.
I doubt he'd listen to me, since he rolled his eyes when I told him I thought our son had autism in the first place.. He didn't say much after I had him diagnosed lol.

That's another issue...

As for immunizations, there has been an alarming increase in kids with autism since the 40's...and alarming is putting it lightly. If I would have known then what I know now...

i don't think ADD is necessarily a burden,
i cherish mine! though it does mean educating the educators dealing with your child...and i think this "condition" is genetically passed on and EXTREMELY prevalent in the "new" world due to the people who made their way here being more able to deal with emigration and pioneering...

on the autism front check out dr andrew wakefield who is currently appealing his disbarring from the british medical association...

Immunization is archaic. Hopefully, it will be a thing of the past in another decade or two.

Kat.. I too have ADD.
And it's been so hard to live with. Just a few years back my employer paid for a few of us to take an Excel class. I had such a hard time concentrating. I tried so hard to concentrate but couldn't. I remember thinking to myself "please don't call on me". He would call on various people as the class went on.
I had that problem all through school... still do. It's embarrasing.
Even now at work I will be taking a call and when I hang up with the customer I am supposed to notate what the call was about. Sometimes I hang up and immediately start drifting. Only for a second or so but enough time for me to focus...and forget what the call was about.
Or I'm driving somewhere and as I'm sitting at a light, the light turns green and I forget...for just a sec.. where I'm going.

einstein and edison also had trouble concentrating in school einstein stuck it out till he was 15 and edison was homeschooled from 3rd grade on...just saying...ADD has strengths others don't and the concentration issues well sometimes we have to learn ways to trick ourselves into learning things? i'm a byte-size ingester of data myself, though ADD also comes with a hyper-focus capability that comes in very handy when it kicks in...

as to vaccines i had polio in a cup in grade school, and the smallpox (as a baby?) and that is it. oh and i think two tetanus shots, one in childhood and one in my twenties when i stepped on a rusty nail...i also fell to ALL the "childhood" diseases, measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox. i remember being quarantined with pleasure and my immune system is solid gold...
