hummus!! it is best with freshly sprouted chickpeas, which you can do at home with a jar...then just add some garlic, lemon juice and olive oil and blend blend blend...oh and sometimes a little pepper (black) is good too, though the sprouted variety is VERY tangy on its own. use as a dip with pitta bread or whatever accompaniment you choose. katatonic,Thank you, I 've already got lots of hummus in the fridge. It's coming out of my ears, lol. I was thinking, may be a hot side dish, or patties? IP: Logged |

not sure if you are a veggie, starky, but a little chicken, celery, tomato and turmeric also sits well in that pot...then again they DO make great snacks lightly roasted with a little seasoning. IP: Logged |

I toss them in/on ANY salads! Especially cob salads and olive oil pasta veggie salads. In bean/pea/lentil soups. Mashed in curries. Mashed into a squash potato mix... but not over mashed. I eat them cold or hot and often right out of the can! ------------------ Everyone is a teacher... Everyone is a student... Learning is eternal. ~Everyone is gifted. I like quite a few things as "mono-meals" and right out of the can! Any type of bean or pea. Cold white corn. Cold beets. Tuna/sardines/clams/oysters FruitI like tossing green and yellow string beans with black-eyed peas and chickpeas(rather than kidney beans) with vinegar, dill, and olive oil and onion slices, and sometimes if I add cold pasta, I add raw zucchini, raw summer squash, diced tomatoes, black olives, pickled mushrooms, and diced pickled artichokes, and coarse black pepper. Let sit a few hours in fridge...yummy! IP: Logged |

Thank you, friends! I ended up cooking the chickpeas ( they were raw) and then mashed them lightly (LEXX ) and added thin strips of raw carrots (you can do it with potato peeler), green beans, chopped tomatoes, fresh chopped parsley, paprika and turmeric with melted BUTTER, and it turned out lovely. Served with Greek yoghurt on the side. IP: Logged |
