Is the person hurting his/herself? I had a psych professor once for child development, and she works at the ucla psych. hospital specifically for suicides, but for teenagers. I'm not sure of adults...but she did make a point not to help suicidal people indulge in their emotions..The freudian method doesn't work in this case....It has a lot to do with biology and genetics, even diet. Once these improve there are likely to be changes. I suggest seeing a clinical psychiatrist at a well known university hospital. I trust these people because they're forced to do research. My mom was suicidal and I still remember what she told me, that suicidal people do it because they want to "live." I am no good in giving an explanation as to why a person should live...besides the obvious being there for family. It would hurt others to kill oneself. To me, that reason alone is sufficient enough. I am so sorry to hear about this...your friend needs lots of love and positive thinking...Men especially are in more danger of going to the extent of actually "doing something." You're right, you cannot see the best doctors if you do not have insurance. If this person is open to it, try a buddhist meditation center. It can change a person listening to monks speak about the value of life...Best of luck to you.IP: Logged |
