Hi, I love cats and, unfortunately, started to be allergic to them. Does anyone know any natural method to get over the allergy? thank you for answering. IP: Logged |

Being around them? Seriously, I had a severe allergy to cats all my life, until I owned one, everyday I would be reacting until a month later I became stronger and immune to them... If I ever go long periods without being around a cat my allergy would come back, but now we have a permanant house cat most of the allergic reactions have gone. IP: Logged |

I agree with Sun.I am horribly allergic to cats, been tested for it too! But I LOVE them so I have them, 6 indoors to be exact! My allergist told me do not get rid of your cats if you love them so, just work around your allergies....and constant exposure is the key, just like taking allergy shots! He also told me if I ever went away for a signifigant amount of time they would bother me when I came home, but I would re-adjust to their dander. I have also noticed that particular cats have different dander effects on me. Some can jump in my face and I do not react (with allergies) one in particular just drives my immune system insane! SO, if you love cats, sensitize yourself, slowly..and your body will build up it's own immunity, but it has to be constant, like a live in indoor kitty! good luck~ t~~~ IP: Logged |

o, and also, the benefits of my kitties FAR outweigh any allergy potential. They soothe me, calm me, make me laugh, think, ponder, wonder...which is a huge health benefit to me. t IP: Logged |

Thank you Sunchild and Hippichic.. I am feeding cats in the back yard, and there is one cat who is coming inside.. I used to feed her inside too.. than my allergy became severe: coughing and itching-burning eyes, sneezing, scratching inside my throat.. The thing is, in a couple of months I need to leave my apartment. So, I need to decide whether I can take that cat with me, or keep feeding them all outside. I am encouraged to hear that you got over your allergies. If I knew that the allergy would go away, I would definitely take her (the cat) with me. But I can't function when the symptoms are high. So I understand you recommand me taking her? I do love her. I love them all. It's sad that I have to move.IP: Logged |

well, you will have to decide for yourself.there are pleanty of folks who just can not tolerate cats...and there are those of us that choose to and there are a few who can irregardless... go with your gut feeling just now my kid brought to me my 2nd to the latest, (pisces) take-in...and i took him in cause he is the half brother of (the one whose dander is so terrible to me AND a pisces), but my b-loved sox, another rescuee from a tree, anyway i just kissed and hugged divi and loved him......... simply what i need.... despite...the allergies.. blessings!!! t~~~ IP: Logged |

Thanks. Of course I'll decide for myself. I simply figured out I might get some good answers here. I think your cases demonstrate the triumph of love over biology. May you and your cats be happy together for all eternity.IP: Logged | |
