When I'm in a very crowded noisy place or around very bright lighting, I start to feel as if I'm falling away from the world, the people who are talking to me all of a sudden sound as if they're very far away, and then I lose my vision it goes to black then comes back after 10 mins or so...OK So I get that it's sensory overload of some kind, but who else has this, what do you do to treat it (because I can't avoid crowds, etc, I've tried but my life demands otherwise)? It sounds like a natural shut down process. I have never quite heard of it like that. I am sure some other people will have ,though. wow... your vision completely going is troublesome i think - does this happen any other time or only when you're in crowds? have you mentioned this to an optometrist? have you tried meditating and envisioning a shield around you before you go into crowded places? ------------------ If you pull it too tightly, the string will break. Being a neurodivergent, I easily get sensory overload. Fish oil does me some good with its Omega 3 fatty acids DHA,EPA. I also take a multivitamin that includes Vitamin B complex which is said to be the stress vitamin. Hypersensitivity is a known symptom of both Omega 3 fatty acid deficiencies and Vitamin B deficiencies. Autistic people get sensory overload the most intense. However, what you're saying seems to be something in addition to sensory overload. Complete losing your vision momentarily like that is not a symptom of sensory overload. Losing your vision up to 10 minutes is scary. I'd go see both an ophthalmologist and neurologist to see if there are physical issues with your eyes and nervous system. I have a tendency to shut my eyes for a minute or two to deal with sensory overload.
Naturally, it's hard for me look at a person and process speech at the same time. If I do, I get sensory overload. The same thing happens with too much visual and auditory stimuli, especially when I am reading and listening. Too much word information to my ears and eyes for my brain to process. ------------------ No..I am not a Virgo.
