Topic: Does anyone here charge and cleanse their stones and crystals?

I'm getting quite the little collection of of stones. My non jewelry stones include agate, amethyst, rose quarts, and tumbled ruby. But people who seem to know much about gem healing and such seem to say...that it's important to recharge the stones. (to like release the negative energy the stone can absorb, and take away from us.) I've heard of a few different ways
From using crystals
a bowl of water and salt
the moonlight
the sunlight
purple plates (is it just a plate that is the color purple, or is there more to it?) Those of you that do this I am very interested to hear about your experiences.

I've read that you can just put the crystals under running water and that cleanses them.IP: Logged |

Yes, clear, cool running water, then let them dry naturally~btw, I dont think you really need to clear them unless they have been exposed to negative energy or you plan to work with them..

Interesting, but seems a bit silly with the "They are alive and intelligent" thing.
But pretty interesting other wise. Article also gave advice about not cleansing amethysts in the Sun. "Stones such as aquamarine and amethyst will fade in the sun so you will have to use another method for cleansing and regenerating these gemstones. " Tonight I am setting my little amethyst rock on the window sill to get some moon rays. And wear it in my pocket or keep in my purse and go about my day. And see how it goes, how I feel, and what happens.  This site talks about cleansing with water. "Please do not use tap water, since it is full of chemicals. Be careful though because certain stones will actually dissolve in water, e.g. Red Selenite." Luckily my parents by bottled water. heehee. But yeah I have running chlorine water where I'm from, and I do shower with jewelry on sometimes. hmmmm.
