For many years I have had terrible issues with acne. I'm happy to say that I don't have much, if at all on my face, but it seems to go crazy on my upper chest, shoulders, and all over my back. I've dealt with this since I was 12 (I am now 21) and have taken antibiotics, used lotions for acne, body washes, and have altered my diet (like no dairy or sugar). I'm working with my chiropractor (who is also my boss) and am trying out natural ways to make it vanish, but it is a very slow process and I haven't seen any improvement at all.I was wondering if anyone has tried anything and seen improvements? Or knows anything on the topic? I'm no longer interested in taking anything that the doctors want me to take (pills or birth control), but I don't want to give up. Any suggestions? IP: Logged |

I'd bet a million dollars you have a zinc deficiency. Do you also have white spots on your fingernails? Try taking chelated zinc after the largest meal once a day.IP: Logged |

Yep, that's a sign of a zinc deficiency. You should see a rapid improvement in your acne, but it may take a little while to completely go away.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." If you click on Yin's Contents of Health and Healing thread, there are many good threads contained in the "acne" section. I'm on my phone so I can't really paste it for you, but Gia has a lot of good advice to do with vitamins on one of those. Check them out!IP: Logged |

Some good vitamins to research for Acne: Burdock Root is a good one. B complex vitamins. Horsetail. Alpha Lipoic Acid Omegas and Krill Oil. Vitamin C.

It's more absorbable. I think they bind it to amino acids or something.IP: Logged |

Oh wow thanks for all the tips! Looks like I have some experimenting to do . It's amazing how I can go to a doctor about this and all they will suggest is to put me on the pill. 0.0IP: Logged |

Here's a youtube video of a girl who used a lot of different approaches, most of which were pharmaceutical and expensive, and ultimately cured herself using "the Regimen." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7oUjKsGHA4 Link to the product website: http://www.acne.org/regimen.html Best wishes! I've started taking the zinc, so we'll see what that does! It's hard for me to use those types of lotions and cleansers because it's hard for me to reach my back and I would have to take 2 showers a day to wash it, and sometimes I don't have time for that :/. I'll keep it in mind though, thanks! IP: Logged |

someone told me that carrots can cure it. So I just looked into it online"Eat lots of carrots. Eating too many carrots could actually render your skin orange. So, obviously, use some self-restraint. Eating a few carrots with your meals is probably enough. There’s lots of vitamin A and carrots. One of the benefits to eating foods with Vitamin A is that this vitamin will help repair your facial skin tissues much more rapidly. Another benefit to eating carrots is that they have a lot of antioxidants which help remove toxins from your body quickly and efficiently. Healing properties, and the ability to help your skin, are just a few of the beneficial aspects of eating carrots. Your eyesight will also benefit too. Carrot sticks should be what you eat instead of potato chips every day. Your body will thank you for it for the rest of your life. but yeah good read! this whole thread is helpful. I don't have acne, but the pores on my nose get pretty clogged. So I am trying to wash my face more. I was also told by a lady that it's ideal to get a facial once a month. (I'm getting a free one tomorrow.)

I would suggest testing for food allergies. At least to eliminate this kind of cause as a possibility. I had a horrible time with acne when I was young, and later in life I found out I was lactose intolerant, and hat allergy to lactose can cause acne. (When I was younger I consumed a lot of dairy)I have always had acne problems, and I still have them, even though I am almost 40 ! It gets better when I have eough sleep, eat properly. Doing hatha yoga often helped me a lot, probably from balancing my health system, my energy and mind and emotions, less anxiety, etc. Other than that, being away from stress sources, changing my routine, travelling around and doing interesting things :-) always improves my condition. But seriously, phytotherapy has helped me with other health issues, could be worth trying. Acne is not my treatment priority so I havent tried. I've also been successful with acupuncture, again not for acne, but my acupunturist said great things about acupuncture for aesthetic treatments, like celulitis, etc, it will balance your energy, your emotional side, and it is usually not expensive. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time for the acupncturist to learn about your from your response to the treatment. You just need to find a good experienced acupuncturist. IP: Logged |

Have you ever heard of diatamaceous earth? It is like clay, but dried algae. This, mixed with a little witch hazel extract, or raw apple cider vinegar and a dab of raw honey, made into a thick liquid is an incredible face mask to remove toxins, soften the skin, and re hydrate. IP: Logged |
