To put it mildly...

I want to share, tho, that it can be dealt with.

I have suffered anxiety for most of my life...gone into full blown PTSD to now very, very perimenopausal to HAVING to find a way to deal!

Lexapro helps the brain issues alot. But I have discovered that deep breathing really works for alot of things.

I am getting these horrible hot flashes and night sweats to the tune I dont sleep anymore...I have learned to breathe them out...I can feel the dragon coming on, like somebody lit his fire and with each and every breath of mine, his grows.

But with deep, belly breathing, concentration I can really lessen the fire.

Same with general anxiety...IF I remember to deep belly breath I can usually stop anxitey in its tracks...the problem is remembering to do it!

Sitting here now, my eldest dropped off her kitten (one of mine) to baby sit while she went out of town for a few days....I could feel the anxiety welling up as I dont want to loose him (in this big house) and be able to find him to take him home to her, so I self talk..."this is ridiculous, Terri" and I stop and breathe...

Yep this a battle that is hard fought but I am going to win!!!

Xiiro had posted a really good breathing exercise to control anxiety on another thread. Here it is:

Breathing in, I know I am breathing In
Breathing out, I know I am breathing Out
Breathing in, I know the oxygen I inhale is making air easier for every plant on earth to breathe
Breathing out, I know the carbon dioxide I exhale is nourishing every plant on earth
Breathing in, I see the plants I am nourishing with my breath, growing
Breathing out, I see the plants I am nourishing with my breath, fruiting
Breathing in, I see the fruits I am nourishing with my breath, being harvested
Breathing out, I see the fruits I have nourished with my breath in the hands of an impoverished child.
Breathing in, I see the child is happy, nourishing his/her body with my fruit.
Breathing out, I see the part of me living within and nourishing this child.
Breathing in, I know my worth is MORE than simple human expectation.
Breathing out, my worth is universal.
