in my eye somehow. It doesnt hurt but of course that's when I meet a bunch of my new neighbors and look like I just smoked a bong or something.

Any advice on how to clear this up quicker?

Yikes! Those are no fun. I have a friend who told me to use warm wet cloth over my red eyes, which made no sense to me but she's an ophthalmologist so what do I know?!

I usually just use cold compresses until the redness goes away.

Hope it heals soon, miss! ♥

The only way is time...per experience

It happens, spontaneosly. Does it hurt? Whenever I get them it hurts!

Yin, warm compresses would make sense, since warm dilates and would, possibly help the blood be absorbed by the body more efficeiently, cold would constrict and help with swelling and pain, but I would think cold would immobilize healing?

Sorry, T, GOOD LUCK!

hippichick, too funny. Not sure I could do that with a straight face. haha

No, oddly enough it doesnt hurt. I don't even know when it happened. I had an allergic reaction to something I ate the other night and got violently ill. So it was probably then. But I have been coughing & sneezing lately (allergies) too, so it couldve happened that way.

I gave one of my neighbors some dog treats I had that my dog doesnt like and we chatted for a bit. I noticed he was looking at me funny and I wondered why. Was it something I said? .....then I remembered: Oh yeah....it's my damn eye. LOL embarrassing. If i'd remembered, i'd have said something.

It seems to have faded a bit today. Yeah, I figured I'd probably just have to wait it out.

Yin, thanks, I will try that!

Thanks ladies.

It's an occular hemorrhage. It generally happens for no real reason and is harmless. It didn't fade in one day. It can take a while for the surrounding tissue to absorb the blood. It probably rearranged due to sleeping on one side and/or gravity pulling it downward. Unlike dilated capillaries that make the eye look red, this is actually loose blood encased inside and moving around in the eyeball.

Yeah, it's harmless and won't affect your vision. I had it happen to me recently, which is why I know so much about it.
