Hi all:

I just tried one of their products today since I ran out of my old product. It smelled kind of like waxy oatmeal when I first put it on my skin, but the smell went away after I washed it.

Their products seem to get mostly good reviews on their site, but the bad ones are really bad, so I thought I'd ask and see what people's experiences were (please respond only if you've tried them and based on their effectiveness). Then again, some of those reviewers seemed nit-picky and hard to please, and some of the things they had issues with wouldn't be issues for me, so I have to take that into consideration.

Opinions?

I have used their products before - I like the smells and the shampoos seem to do my hair good. However, their toxicity index is not very low and the fact that Clorox bought them just irks me enough to not use them anymore.

Clorox bought them? O, great

I love the lib balm, but that is the only thing I use anymore. I have used their facial creams, hand creams and I did not see any difference with less expensive products.

I just tried them out and like them.

Their products are usually 90+ % natural. I think that's pretty good. I don't expect perfection. Doesn't make any sense for that to be "toxic". Then again, every day I hear that x is bad, or z is bad--every day is something else. I'm fed up and annoyed, honestly, because it's anxiety-inducing, aggravating, and I can't help but wonder just how much of it is hoopla, paranoia, hysteria, and just not worth it. I honestly just don't know. Everything kills you. Life itself kills you. I'm getting very close to the "why-bother" point. If beauty products won't kill you, plastic water bottles will. Or air pollution. Or food. I give up.

I like that their scent doesn't last long and that it absorbs quickly into my skin. They aren't as expensive as other products--I don't have money coming out of my tuchas so the economic factor important to me. I like how they feel on my skin.

Going without product is not an option for me. I will not go without shampoo, deodorant, etc. That's just gross and would make for social inacceptability.

Has anyone had good results with them?

And, again, my question from another forum: amounts.

Example: they say chocolate is good for you (in terms of anti-oxidants), as is green tea apparently. However, the amount that you'd have to have to experience the benefits is really high (and in the case of chocolate, that would make you fat). So, even if they have benefits, you'd have to have A LOT, from my understanding, to really profit. On top of that, only certain kinds (60%+ cacao) really help. So, I can't help but wonder: just how much of supposedly bad things do you have to have to really be in trouble?

And, too, what about genetics? How does that factor in?

Just to give an update, I've been using their products for about a week and a half now, and I really do like them. I notice differences (for the better) in my skin. I used to use a combination of Olay plus regular (read: cheapest I could find) body washes/lotions. While Olay's night cream does work great wonders, the animal testing thing bothers me. Plus, the last jar I got started to smell funky after awhile--I had liked the fragrance at first, but for some reason it started smelling weird: I can't describe it exactly, but it was just icky.

The face wash that I used from Olay didn't clear up my skin at all, plus animal testing, so I'm not using that anymore either.
