My lower back's a mess. It's gotten worse after each child (3). I've spent the past couple of days quasi-modo-ing it around the house and about town...a trick with an 8-month-old. I'm working on my core strength, but do you have any cool remedies? ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. Biofreeze can help a bit. My chiropractor endorses it. If it is not spasms, and only pain, Biofreeze can take the edge off the pain. http://www.biofreeze.com/ http://www.amazon.com/BIOFREEZE-Gel-32-Ounce-Bottle-Pump/dp/B002J9HBY8 Just do not get it in eyes or mouth. Like any other topical mentholated type muscle/pain reliever, it can burn. My other advice is get checked out by a doctor and see a chiropractor. I am disabled from back injuries from top to bottom, plus degenerative complications, nerve damage and more. When lower back is at its worse; I cannot walk and at times lose feeling from waist down. Please make sure to get checked out so your lower back issue does not become worse. {{{big hugs to you beautiful lady! }}} PS. If you have a bathtub; take nice long baths with Epsom salts. Also make sure you have enough Magnesium in your diet. IP: Logged |

Biofreeze is a LIFESAVER. I have the same back issues. It will flare up and the only thing that works is rest, ice/heat and biofreeze. When it's a strain or spasm, not much to be done except to treat conservatively. Massage therapy can be helpful, but not when the pain is acute. ETA - That's supposed to be a thumbsup for the Biofreeze!!! Core strenthening is also a very good thing to be doing.
If you feel radiating numbness, see a doc. It may be a disc! IP: Logged |

LEXX and ghanima - Thank you for the recommendations re: Biofreeze and magnesium - I'll definitely look into those.Re: baths: I'm too lazy to clear out all the kids' toys I've been on the watch for disc problems. My Mom had a herniated disc in her mid-30s. ------------------ If I've included this sig, it's because I'm posting from a mobile device. I used to have lower back problems, my chiropractor suggested that I stretch every morning before getting out of bed, it has worked, stretch your whole body, like a cat does. IP: Logged |
