So i always thought life, living things, and my own conciousness were incredibly amazing things. I wanted to wrap my mind around what conciousness and life really was and how it worked. I wanted to know if souls existed. So i started to observe my own conciousness like some kind of test object. I started to think that i really am a chemical reaction. A thing reacting to its environment. Reacting a certain way depending on the circumstances.

If im feeling lazy i dont want to go to work. If i eat a lot i get tired. If i see a girl i long to be with them. I obsess over the idea of how we dont have free will and are reacting in a way that is most natural which is guided in us by our DNA and environment. I think our paths are inevitable, whatever path we take, and we can change our lives but we are still on that inevitable path. I feel like i only want to change things until they get to the point that they are causing me grief and they have to change.

I dont believe in god or miracles and think that everything is just working and reacting by the laws of physics. If everything can work how it does just from matter and energy reacting by the laws of physics, then there is no need for a god to run anything. One could say that these laws and energy and matter existing could be called god. But i think that we only find it amazing because of the feelings we get when we are thinking about how amazing it is. Objectively there is just matter and energy reacting to eachother. I believe in evolution and i dont believe in souls.

So yeah. I basically think that nothing is that amazing because everything is just following rules- the laws of physics, down to a T. Is an old branch breaking and falling from a tree that amazing? Is my emotional reaction of ignoring some guy with negative emotions inside of him who probably everyone ignores that amazing? Is it surprising? Not to me. I have made up logical reasons to how everything works.

I dont want to get caught up in human foolishness of making your own meaning to things because I believe everything happens for a scientific reason, which is the truth beyond all human applied meaning. So anyway I dont have faith that myself or life is that amazing. People dont deserve credit for what they are because everything is a gift and that you didnt really choose to be where you are. It definitely SEEMS like we have free will. FIN. HELP

The truth is, scientific findings are not ultimate truth, even scientists are always making new discoveries, proving each other wrong, debating stuff, etc etc. I'd like to study quantum physics if I were to study a form of science, because the findings in quantum physics seem to suggest that we are interconnected, and that there is so much more to this life than meets the eye.

I was thinking about free will again today and wondering if there are many more layers to it than I had decided a while ago. I had decided a while ago that we are all just a sum of our experiences. Maybe this is indeed true but maybe also the other is true as well. I am not sure, but at the moment it seems possible.

I can relate to what you wrote, I have been through very similar, and I wouldn't say i am over it yet, because it would seem that no-one in this life can ever be completely sure of anything....and truthfully, who wants to feel vulnerable?

The way I manage to cope is by the awareness that we can totally control our feelings by controlling our own thoughts.

I feel that conscious is a truly amazing, mystifying force in our universe, which may be the ultimate force behind everything(?)

I hope this helps a little.

Just something I found interesting from a link which I came accross on another thread here: http://www.awakeninthedream.com/wordpress/the-kabbalahs-remarkable-idea/

So youve had a similar situation, then im glad im not the only one. maybe i hold onto my neliefs strongly because i dont want to be vulnerable. But i figure that science is the most accurate belief system out there. All it takes is the knowledge of matter, energy, and the laws of physics to convince me that we can exist without a god or souls.

Yeah i guess we can really control our thoughts and feelings, but you have to believe that you can. Or aomething.

And as for what you said about quantum physics and how there is more than meets the eye. Well i have a theory that each person might have a large field around them, or they are giving off some kind of energy, and that others can feel this energy. Because theres been a lot of times where i just start thinking about someone, and then a few minutes later i get a text from them. Then i wonder, if i wasnt thinking about hem for the past few minutes would i really be imterested in texting them right now? So idk. Maybe its a crazy theory but i just theorize that your energy harmonizes with others at the perfect time when you both need it. And theres been some times where me and friends are talking good about someone then a few minutes later they get home. Were their energy fields open to needing love, and then when they got home we greeted that person warmly, because our hearts had just warmed up thinking about them. Idk its just a weird theory but i guess i think a lot more goes on then meets the eye. Especially since our brains can only take in a small amount of information at once. There is sooo much going on and we could never comprehend it all. Anyway that was a weird heory i tild u but i just wanted to tell someone. You can let me know what u think if u want. And i might check out the link you sent
