I tried to tell people what was coming but no one would believe me. When it hits home, people understand. By then, it is too late, unfortunately. That is just plain stupid.Well, the idiot wont have any business cause private insurance companies aren't any better. I used to go to a gyn years ago, who quit taking HMO's, due to the lack of reimbursment, he retired shortly after. This really ****** me off. Docs take an "oath" and all of them can just go to hell for not honoring that oath. It's not supposed to be about the $$, criminy docs, unless they are a specialist, dont make any money anymore anyway! This country is getting stupider and stupider. Do you all know that a hospital's medicade/medicare reimbursments are based highly on surveys? A hospital gets a bad survey return and guess what...their medicaid/medicare reimbursments could be pulled! The government is a fakery. Nurses, and docs in your situation, mirage, spend all of our time doing paperwork to please the government so the hospital gets it's paultry, ever decreasing reimbursments. The friggin government in cohoots with pharmaceutical companies run American healthcare. The government directs physicians how to care for their patients or no reimbursment and, if the patient is not happy, no reimbursment. Docs, even tho I disagree with your's decision, and wonder if it is even "legal" really are having their hands tied more and more. From my point of view, if somebody ends up in a hospital, they are far better to NOT have insurance, medicare/medicaid cause if certain things are not approved they will not get appropriate care. Now, if the person is a "self pay" as it is legally deemed, basically no insurance, medicaid/medicare, everything is done for the patient due to the sue potential in the US. grrrrr..... gotta put my soapbox away for a bit, get some cleaning done, got today off cause the photographer is coming tomorrow then house on MLS, but I will have my soapbox handy cause this is a subject that drives me INSANE!
O, and by the way, before I put it away I ask nursing students what they are teaching in nursing school now-a-says...."CYA" cover your arse.
I read doctors dictations on patients and they have to actually document a time frame that they spent with the patient or no reimbursment. This Virgo, also a nurse who still lingers in my life, I had to drive it home to him. I have been an ICU rn for 13 years, he is on his 3rd year. He would want to give baths, clean the room, along with documentation and necessary patient care. I always tell new nurses "this is your license (pointing to the computer for documentation) and that (pointing to the paitent) is your conscience" Good docs have the same dilemma, but sounds like yours is afraid of something, good luck to him, he cant survive financially with the decision he has made. ok, soap box away now!

hippichick, don't get off your soapbox because I'm bringing mine in also! ref page 2 from Lexxi's thread on 'Husband Ambulance' in LLC2.0 - she closed it for glitching. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum25/HTML/004311-2.html my post on "SPOSH" ... and Lexxi's descriptions on how she's been treated. I liked AriesEagle's comment that he thinks it's a 'minority' of the doctors that treat patients badly. I think that it's much higher. Not everyone has your Conscience, hippichick! Some have NO qualms about hurting patients. (Remember your post recently 'Hypothetical...' ref. ) /c I am feeling SO DEEPLY intimidated... /c +++++++++++++++++++++ *THIS "raw" POST has NOW been CROPPED.... +++++++++++++++++++++ Thank you, hippichick, for YOUR sole/Soul support here... You have truly demonstrated that YOU are a "Healer and a (lovingly equally-outrageous) Friend to me..... THANK you for your "being and standing with me" in some of the darker hours of my life... Yea, it all just stinks so much.Like I say, these docs take an oath, I think somewhere in that oath it is, in very small print selling themselves to the government and the devil. But, not all docs, again like I said, lots of times their hands are tied. We had a doc the otherday, one of the baby clan, the "hospitalists" that walked out of a room, after his patient coded and died (44 yr old 450 lbs, got himself into some terrible breathing difficulties)...so the doc finally "calls" (stops) the code after 25 minutes, 20 of chest compressions (which dont work on obese people anyway, too much fatty tissue to get to the heart) walks out of the room, stating "this is ******** !" and kicks the bedside table I was writing on.
The patient's nurse a good friend of mine said he "tripped" over it, I didnt see it like that. nor feel it! Ya really gotta know your crap today, the laws, the billing, your healthcare and your body to survive as a patient, both inside and outside of the hospital. Another example: I am finding out that it is common now-a-days to use Diprivan (Propoful) the drug that killed Michael Jackson, in out patient settings for colonoscopies and the like. My mother's doc wanted to do an endo and a colo on her usind Diprivan, told her she was crazy. NOBODY is coming near me with that **** unless I am in a hospital. I use it, it is under my scope of practice as a RN in a hospital setting to do so. But outpatient? And why? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Not that it is so much cheaper to use that the traditional sedatives, but folks wake up quicker, go home sooner so THEY CAN DO MORE PATIENTS (shhhhhhhh!)
And why? Cause the friggin government is cutting back on medicare/medicaid reimbursments, like I have already said, (sorry dont like repeating myself) and the docs gotta make a buck somehow. I am guessing your doc made the decision because he did not want to mess with the paperwork, the hassel of strict government protocols, etc. Yea, when, someday, I relinquish my license I'll be havin a bigger soap box that wont shut up! Got this off FBPLEASE READ THIS Obama Care. Just wait to see what happen in 2013 & 2014! Age 76 Today, I went to the Dr. for my monthly B12 shot that I have been getting for a number of years. The nurse came and got me, got out the needle filled and ready to go then looked at the computer and got very quiet and asked if I was prepared to pay for it. I said no that my insurance takes care of it. She said, that Medicare had turned it down and went to talk to my Dr. about it. 15 minutes later she came back and said, she was sorry but they had tried every-thing they could but Medicare is beginning to turn many things away for seniors because of the projected Obama Care coming in. She was brushing at tears and said, "Some day they too will get old", I am so very sorry!! Please for the sake of many good people. . . ..be informed please . YOU ARE NOT GOING TO LIKE THIS... At age 76 when you most need it, you arenot eligible for cancer treatment * see page 272 What Nancy Pelosi didn't want us to know until after the healthcare bill was passed. Remember she said, "We have to pass the Bill so that we can see what's in it." Well, here it is. Obama Care Highlighted by Page Number THE CARE BILL HB 3200 JUDGE KITHIL IS THE 2ND OFFICIAL WHO HAS OUTLINED THESE PARTS OF THE CARE BILL. Judge Kithil of Marble Falls, TX - highlighted the most egregious pages of HB3200 Please read this....... especially the reference to pages 58 & 59 JUDGE KITHIL wrote: ** Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally. ** Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual's bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts. ** Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now - ACORN). ** Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?) ** Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors' fees. ** Page 272. section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient's age. ** Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception. ** Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an "end-of-life planning" seminar every five years. (Death counseling..) ** Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order. HAD ENOUGH???? Judge Kithil then goes on to identify: "Finally, it is specifically stated that this bill will not apply to members of Congress. Honorable David Kithil of Marble Falls , Texas All of theabove should give you the ammo you need to oppose Obamacare. Please send this information on to all of your email contacts Share . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- . .

woah!hon, it was just something I saw and shared. You KNOW I despise the institution that pays me (very well).... You know I am in your corner, but at 51, I kind of need a job. That is why I preach and try to educate and take care of my patients (despite the system) and I leave work each and everyday with a clear conscience. Yea, it sucks....it REALLY sucks! But we are stuck for now and have to find another way. The last president I voted for? Regan, when I was 18 and my mother made me do so. I see it as all rigged and a vote doesnt matter anyway. So, little voices, I think, wont get us anywhere soon...however...we can work around it... Atleast I do..

Well, my only reason I am able to be a part of American healthcare is this:I preach..I TEACH! I preach to my patients and their families EDUCATION....I teach the newbies CYA, ofcourse, but it is the PATIENT and the family that matters. As per the Nurse Practice Act, which I am legally bound and morally, a nurse is FIRST a patient and family advocate! You would not believe the ways I find around legal issues..like, a family is not happy with a patient's care...legally I cant say anything, however IF I have bonded with the family and I feel "safe" I will slip in little innuendos, did it week before last and I am still PISSSED about the outcome. EDUCATE, EDUCATE, EDUCATE...become aware, and that FB post was given to me, from a fellow, retired RN who also knows. There is NO reason we as recievors of American healthcare, yes I am one of those too, must bow down to the government and what the docs are dictated to do. All we can do is know our **** ! AND I first realized this as my 2nd born was born with a severe heart defect. That is what got me into nursing, I was enchanted with healthcare all those years ago, but I used to be very shy...a doormat (friggin Pisces) then Sam was born and I had to educate myself cause NOBODY was going to be messin with my baby unless I understood!
There is NO reason, as patients, as recievors of American healthcare need to just sit back and take it. My new doc, had to change due to insurance changes, is my brother's sis in law. She had to, upon first visit refer me for this test and that...I laughed...really? She knows me and she knows I will not be dictated by this crap! But she is bound by the government and laws to do such. Now, IF something happened to me and one of the "tests" I refused....I would be deemed "non compliant." Bullcrap. And not be insured. Bullcrap. I dont know what else to do cept educate. I already bear arms in Texas, I speak out against law enforcement, LOUDLY and I know big bro is watching. But I have a conscience and morals... sheeeeat......
