Erghh. I make my own, but none of them really seem to work the way I need them to.Anyway, I have issues with my skin and my home remedies don't always work. Baking soda and vinegar/water rinse work well for a while, but then I need to switch it out a little bit. Bentonite clay with apple cider vinegar works amazingly, but again it's better periodically, rather than every day (and it feels SO good energetically!). I've tried honey, organic sugar, and lemon juice, but the lemon juice tends to bleach out my skin unevenly (which is unfortunate, because other than that it works really well). Coconut oil causes me to break out, but jojoba oil seems to work well. Any fail-proof combos anyone wants to share? IP: Logged |

let me try remembering my diy cleansing phase!okay ground almonds, mixed with rose water, is great. ground oatmeal, with witch hazel if oily skin, milk if dry and rose water again if normal...is even better. believe it or not, just simple plain real greek yogrut, used as a mask, exfoliates, you'll know because if it is the real thing, leave it a bit too long and your face will feel the need to take it off (something about the 'acidopholus??' or something in it) i adore the effects on my skin, after i use just plain sea salt with water to scrub my face...it really 'screams' clean afterwards.
when i find it i like to use sandalwood powder along with any of the above as it seems to do something that makes the face glow even better!
okay can't remember any others for now, but hope these ideas are of any use to you!

Awesome, thanks! I think I'll try the plain Greek yogurt (I eat it anyway, so we usually have it around) and the sea salt with water.Sea salt with water especially sounds super simple, and something I can keep in the bathroom. Thanks again! IP: Logged |

Before I moved on to using hardcore alpha/beta-hydroxy acids, I used to use ground aspirin. The natural salicylic acid in the aspirin sloughs off those dead skin cells, clears blackheads. It made my skin glow wonderfully! I always used rosewater/aloe as a toner.I 2nd using ground up sea salt; I used mine with olive oil. I was too afraid of attracting bugs with sugar. IP: Logged |

Hm. So sea salt is a winner thus far... I do usually need to combine it with a mild oil like jojoba, or honey, as I tend to have very dry skin. Maybe a mix of sea salt and jojoba oil or honey...hm. Or just plain sea salt and water. I think I'll try that first, and see if it dries my skin too much. How do you get your alpha/beta-hydroxy acids? IP: Logged |

Sea salt with jojoba and honey sounds great! The jojoba oil mimics the natural sebum our oil glands prouduce and the honey is a humectant and it's anti-microbial, you can't lose with that combination. I got my alpha/beta peels from makeupartistschoice.com. They ship relatively fast (free priority within the U.S.), and they usually have "flash" sales of 25-30%, depending on the holiday or if they're introducing a new product. You have to sign up for their newsletter to get those discount codes, or you can check with Retail Me Not to find codes. They have a huge variety of cosmetics and treatments; if you don't like a lot of chemicals on your skin, they have natural/organic acids and cleansers as well. Between those chemical peels and the oil cleansing method, my skin literally glowed. IP: Logged |

Interesting, Sag! Yes, I've found that the honey and jojoba do work well for my dry skin, but I need something to exfoliate as well.I really like to go as organic/natural as possible, but I'll take a look at that site, it sounds potentially nifty! Ami, I don't eat raw at all. I was a vegetarian for many years until I got pregnant, and now I just eat mostly organic foods and farm raised meats. At the very least, meats and cheeses without added hormones, and food from our garden. IP: Logged |

I know it sounds weird but I do an egg mask. I take egg whites and put them on my face with a brush and then apply tissue or TP and then more egg white. I keep it on for 15-30 minutes (until dry) and then pill it off from bottom to top. It works great, then I wash my face with warm water and apply a home-made toner of apple cider vinegar (1 part ACV and 3 parts water) Then I apply a home made moisturiser (2 oz coconut oil, 1 tbsp ground oats, 1 tsp rose water (very easy to make) a little aloe and a pinch of powdered vitamin C) I noticed as I got into my late twenties that my skin was starting to change so I am trying to be proactive about it. quote: Originally posted by Ami Anne: Do you eat raw? I have discovered a wonderful treatment.. I have acne issues.. It has helped me out a lot .Green tea... I make green tea, like normal.. I put a small about in an old toner bottle and I use it as toner.. I only put enough for one week at a time.. It's even better if you use the tea bad instead of a cotton ball. I also make a weeks worth of a mask... Use this every night.. Mix pure raw honey and used green tea leaves ( remove from the bag) It's a little sticky, but honey makes your face glow and acts as a moisturizer. Once a week I add reg sugar to the honey/green tea. The sugar exfoliates. Clean face with cleaner/ tea toner. You can also add tea leaves to your normal cleaner, to give it a boost... Something like noxema. . Just make sure it's green tea.. Antioxidant. Green tea works in the hair also, just put some in a spray bottle..
Note: When I first started using green tea, I broke out alot, but it was clearing out all the pores... So I advise not trying right when a special event is coming up.. Or start off slowly.

Thanks, Lioness!I've tried green tea kind of inadvertently, if I happen to be drinking it and want to use the rest of it for a splash of refresher, ha. I will try that! I've used honey and some other combos as a facial mask before, and it felt SO good on my face! I'll just have to figure out how to not have it drip all over the place. IP: Logged |
