It's easy and no you don't need to worry about chemicals that may have contributed to cancer or Alzheimer in the 'old days',
these two things were life saviors for me (okay nose saviors is more like it.)

The first Method #1 is Alum, the see through like crystal mineral. you can find it at herb shops usually.

Simply either get a big crystal and round it, to remove the sharp edges, then after you cleanse under your arms, run the alum along your skin for a while.....then go exercise and get surprised at how suddenly your sweat has no scent!

the second way to use this is get crushed Alum, then your choice is you want to mix this to a paste with whatever hydrosol you please...or even plain distilled water, and again apply to under arms. you can add a few drops of essential oils like Lavender as it smells nice and is anti-bacterial.

So yes Alum works great (btw alum isn't an abbreviation for aluminuim....just thought to point it out)

Now
Method #2
Get Baking Soda (it absorbs scents)

Get Arrowroot powder (i found this in the baking section near me!!) (same as Baking Soda)

Get Virgin coconut oil(this is anti-bacterial)

Get and FO or EO you really like the scent of. (Many here already know about the different benefits of different EO's)

Now mix 2 equal parts of baking soda and arrow root powder, then add enough VCO to either make it a creamy paste, or a solid one (this solidifies in cold places)....lastly add the scents....and use instead of commercial deodrant...this sometimes can stain some clothes so blot out any excess.

of course these are great, as they are good for both women and men, just adjust the scents to liking or don't use any! and if you do use, let me know how it went.

Enjoy this, and how much it would also help with 'self consciousness' for those who've suffered from how fast they sweat in the past!

ps(not natural but if you are so desperate Listerene doubles up as a great deodorant to.....also great on insect bites for some reason)

I like that homemade deodorant recipe, I'll make some of that tomorrow!

I like to take things internally to ward off BO, as well.

Grapefruit seed extract, fresh pineapples, and chlorophyll (either green juices, spirulina, chlorella) will COMPLETELY out any BO you have up to 24 hours. The pineapples sweeten the body's chemistry; chlorophyll naturally purifies the body; grapefruit seed extract kills off your bad bacteria (the kind that causes odor).

But at work, I sweat like a hog, so I go traditional...

I've been using fenugreek to get rid of body odor. I started taking a lot of it when I was breastfeeding and decided to start taking it again because I liked how it made my armpits smell like maple syrup & pancakes.

I've never been happy with any natural products. I swear they make me smell worse than if I use nothing at all.

I've also taken an herbal blend for allergies with fenugreek in it, called Aller-sin by Douglas Labs. Anyways, allergies and B.O.! Plus an added bonus...even though my milk dried up, I swear when I take fenugreek regularly my boobs seem bigger--an herbal boob job if you will.

I use 100 proof vodka and EO, lol. It works, but you have to reapply a few times if you're a sweater like I am (no relation to the clothing item). Of course you can use strong rubbing alcohol, but the vodka is a little nicer as far as chemicals go.

I also use the crystal, but I like just putting some 100 proof vodka and EO in a glass spray container, and use it for deoderant or hand sanitizer.

Wonderful thread, great information!

Thanks for the link!

Sharing some more of my experience...I started re-taking the fenugreek about twenty months after discontinuing breastfeeding and pumping. Perhaps if I would have waited longer it wouldn't have happened, but I ended up having milk come back in and I quit taking it. So, now I'm down a cup size & stinky (well, at the least I don't smell like pancakes and maple syrup anymore).

Another thing I wondered...will taking fenugreek make me a nicer, more nurturing person?

Considering that "breastfeeding releases oxytocin and prolactin, hormones that relax the mother and make her feel more nurturing toward her baby. This hormone release can help to enable sleep even where a mother may otherwise be having difficulty sleeping. Breastfeeding soon after giving birth increases the mother's oxytocin levels, making her uterus contract more quickly and reducing bleeding."

Also I have endometriosis, which is often attributed to heavy bleeding during menstruation and I did actually notice having lighter cycles than usual while taking the fenugreek (which I may have initially attributed to prayer...lol), so I have to wonder if anyone has tried taking fenugreek specifically to ease menorrhagia.

I do know that when a woman doesn't produce enough milk naturally a lot of times she is recommended to take this fenugreek, and as you learnt it works for milk production
but yeah everything is not good if not taken in the 'right' amounts, even water.

lol for the cup size change it has to be put externally not eaten....as for the smell, all what is listed here works (u don't have to pay too much for the alum, find a herbal or spice shop then get the biggest one you can find and round it up yourself at home ....much more easily baking soda works real well to.

umm lol i don't know, if what we eat will influence our personality to that extent haha....

wow i didn't know all that thanks for sharing...biology explains a bit, i think though with motherhood there is something out of this world abut it to...it could be the sense that you are now really here for another persons life...but it's good if it helps a mother sleep those hormones, as from what i hear, sleeping becomes a thing of the past to new parents

not fenugreek, i was reading the other day about something else that helps with this, but ouch, hope you could do something about that condition. Also maybe you should ask a doctor who is open minded to that herbs and the alternative path work just as well if not better than what you find in normal pharmacies (it's all fillers and a few chemicals anyway not all of which are that okay)

so i will come back to this one, but seriously do ask a doctor or check if there are ayurvedic practitioners near you, who know there stuff and can help.

Body odor can be caused by ingesting meat - specifically the hormones injected into the animals we eat. By eliminating meat from your diet you can eliminate foul body odor when you perspire. Perspiration gets rid of toxins from our bodies. Ingesting purer foods will help. I've personally experienced case studies where this has helped.

Also, if you have a "sulfur" constitution, this homeopathic remedy can bring out and eliminate body odor. You would have to consult a Qualified, repeat Qualified, homeopathic doctor to analyze and offer individual specific remedy for you - homeopathy is very individual and treats the entire individual energy system of your body as a whole. It is worth checking into if you have severe problems with BO.
