I've seen some recipes online, but I'm wondering about people's experience here trying to make it?I don't have any distilled water handy, and I want to get the petals now, as I've already waited a bit too long as it is. I wonder if boiling water would suffice? And then what...? IP: Logged |

here's a DIY videoWhere I live there is a Indian grocery store near by, that sells rose water. But I didn't have enough cash, and it was under 10 bucks so I couldn't use my card. I was gonna buy some to charge my rose quarts. I put this on after I shower. IP: Logged |

Thanks, Stawr.Yeah, I can definitely buy it in a few places, but I want to try to make some myself. I tried a few times last year, but I kept forgetting the distilled water part. I mean...we have roses growing in abundance (well, sort of in abundance), so I figure why not see if I like it. IP: Logged |

That's a great idea to charge your Rose Quartz with it, Stawr! I confess that I'm not overly familiar with how to charge each one of my stones. I often just leave them in the sun/moonlight/rain overnight, or in my windowsill. But of course what you said makes sense. I wish I could find mine. A lot of my crystals and stones seem to still be packed in boxes somewhere, as we didn't unpack everything when we moved in (we'll have to wait until my son is past toddler age to unpack some of the stuff we don't want broken, etc.) :-/ IP: Logged |

oh yeah, I always looks up how to charge them online, but if a recommended method is too inconvenient I sage them, and put then on my window in the moonlight. That reminds me I should cleanse my tiger eye and agate tonight. IP: Logged |

Do you have any favorite "go to" sites/links for how to cleanse different stones?I'm often skeptical, as some sites will say different things. Sometimes, I just listen to the stones and they seem to be pretty content to let me know where they do and do not wish to be placed. I have a large amethyst candle holder, as well as a large rose quartz candle holder, and I think both are packed away somewhere, as I didn't want my son to break them or hurt himself. :/ IP: Logged |

I love gem candle holders! There is a local gem and jewelry store close to me. They have amethyst candle holders and I am very drawn to them, they look so pretty!I believe that there can be multiple ways to charge and cleanse different gems. I know that some methods work for rocks and others don't. Sunlight might be good for a citrine, while sunlight will turn an amethyst green. Some will say water for flourite while its damaging to hematite. I feel like as long as you know what not to do for certain stones, you can try any other recommended method. What seems to be harmless for all gems is sage, bells(never tried it) and moonlight.(the energy for moonlight even seemed to work well for my citrine) But I say when in doubt, sage and moonlight. Also seems to be the most convenient method for me. I know sites will say different things for how often to cleanse and charge, and if there is no information, I try to cleanse and charge mine once a week. All the recommended sites I've come across I've copied and pasted to microsoft in alphabetical order. From my personal experience so far, I feel that cleansing and charging are both important, like you can't have one with out the other. Cleanse to rid it of any negative energy, and charging to really benefit from its energy. Never seen this site before but it pretty cool since they are sharing their personal experience on how to cleanse and charge it. http://hecate-horus.hubpages.com/hub/All-About-Tigers-Eye-Stone I check out this one a lot http://www.psychic-revelation.com/reference/a_d/crystals/charging_cleansing_crystals. html youtube might be helpful too, I never really tried youtube. Nice! I don't think I've saged mine ever, honestly. I often have them out and about when I do sage the house, so hopefully they've benefited from that.I think I'll stick with sage and moonlight, then. Perhaps water for stones that seem to like it. Earth for others, I suppose, and rain for some. Thanks for the links, I'll take a look! IP: Logged |

I bought rose water at whole foods a few weeks ago. About 6-9 bucks I'd say. I wish I still had a rose bush in the yard that would be so convenient and money saving.

Seriously! It is, but I'm still unsure as to whether or not rose water does much good for my face... But yeah, I dislike spending that much money on products I'm not entirely sure I like, and can (theoretically) make myself, heh. I know that it's not much in the grand scheme of things, but when I add that cost to the cost of the EOs I buy, the beeswax, the calendula oil, herbal supplements, etc... Nah. Let me know how yours works for your skin, though! I tend to have somewhat dry(ish) skin, and I've heard that rose water is good for all skin types. But the homemade stuff doesn't make for much, in terms of quantity. IP: Logged |

One of my home country's main exports is rose oil. I usually buy a ton of rose products when I go for a visit. Rose water is my favorite. I buy it from a local herbal shop. Can't you just dilute some rose oil in distilled water and use it as a spray? ETA: OMG, I just looked up the price of rose oil on MountainRoseHerbs.
