Any tips for making these? I'm thinking of making some for roller ball perfume. I plan on slowly replacing my perfume collection with natural homemade ones. So much different information on the web. It's making me crazy. One video told me to shake it in a jar everyday, while another video told me to not shake it vigorously cause of air bubbles that can lead to mold. I think I need to dump out the clementine infusion I made a few weeks ago. Though learning though mistakes can make someone an expert, and will make someone not blindly believe a DIY video works I want to do it right so that I don't waste my carrier oils and get my monies worth. I'm starting to feel like some people on youtube are more honest than others, and some are experts while others talk out their "donkey"Do you have luck using fresh herbs? Or is it worth it to let them dry? I have been working with fresh herbs and not dry. So I'm kind of nervous. Thanks!! IP: Logged |

Most are made from dried Herbs. There are a few exceptions. The fresh ones contain water, you don't want that. You might get away with the orange peels, as they are so acidic. Don't know, I never tried them. Yes, you do shake them every day, I shook them all whenever I would pass. Three times a day would be good. I would just have a line of Mason Jars on an Eastern facing window-sill. The warmth helps them to infuse. It takes about ninety days. Then you strain it. Normally you do this to get oils for making Salves/Cremes. Only certain ones are strong enough to create a scent. Lavendar, for one. IP: Logged |

Thanks! I'm thinking about picking fresh herbs and then drying them. I really like the idea of working with what I got in my own backyard. I'll let you know if my peels make it. I also added vitamin E oil. Yeah since I am just starting out I probably should start with dry herbs.

My clementine oil is done smells fine and looks fine. But yes the whole time I was nervous that it was going to go bad. I even had my mom smell it. She said she liked that it wasn't too strong and was a nice clean smell. Whew! IP: Logged |

My mom had a lily of the valley oil infusion she bought at a store. Found out she gave it away to some body. Kind of bummed out. I need to buy it. It's nice to have some floral smells to dabble with.IP: Logged |
