Could low iron levels also cause sudden and severe mood swings, hair breaking/very course/off with a reddish hue or randomly placed white-ish/gray hairs for no apparent reason? I've been excersising really hard, sometimes 2-3x per week, for almost 20 years. I sometimes also have to endure excruciatingly long periods. IP: Logged |

You may need to supplement certain vitamins as well to enable iron supplement resorption. Do you drink a lot of coffee or tea per chance? Caffeine inhibits iron resorption, as do some other foodstuffs.
I drink massive amounts of coffee :-/ The espresso version. IP: Logged |

Oh yes, I like my coffee nice and strong too, Charlie!Funny story about coffee? When I was pregnant and didn't know it yet, the flavor or 'taste' changed. It was my usual to eat breakfast and write in my journal at a certain diner every day. One day, after years, I kept asking if they'd changed brands, if there was something wrong with the water system, etc, because their coffee became terrible to drink. Then soon, I thought the old ladies in the apartment below me were warming up their cat's breakfast food!! Made me want to puke~~ (Found out they were actually brewing coffee!) Well guess what? ... I was pregnant and didn't realize that the hormones were causing my senses to alter for a while. It was 'nature's way' to make me averse to drinking the 'nectar of the gods-coffee beans' until my baby had developed enough in the womb to be safely harbored there. Saw your other post regarding a possible pregnancy? .... So!! IF your coffee starts tasting not as good as usual, or (humorously) reminds you of cat food, it COULD be another clue? Many many Blessings, Charlie! IP: Logged |

I worked in a health-foods, books, and vitamins shop years ago (1973/74).Usually the "synthetic" product Vitamin D had the letter "L" after the "D" ... as in DL2. (I may be wrong on that... Maybe I'm thinking about synthetic Vit. E. -- D'L' alpha tocopherols, rather than D-alpha.) Sorry...it's been a long time. IP: Logged |

Yep, that's Vitamin E. The synthetic version can cause stomach problems. D2 is synthetic D. Also, with iron, never take ferrous sulfate. It's pretty much just rust.IP: Logged |

Of course, they may have put the L in the D name also.IP: Logged |

To be certain, D3 is definitely the D that forms naturally from sun contact on the surface of the skin.IP: Logged |
