Some months ago I experienced the worst hair loss I'd ever experience. Nothing like the usually spring shedding one gets.

At some point when I grabbed my hair to make a pony tail, I freaked out at how thin and skinny all my hair combined became.

And I've got a hairline that's gotten bigger and I try to hide.

I was recently told that my hair feels coarse, and it's greying, like someone much older than I am. I'm just really worrying about this.

For now, the shedding seems to have subsided.

But I'm still left with my thin hair as it is, and I want my thick luster back. Research into shampoos and supplements hadn't been too fruitful. There are some recommended products I'm thinking of getting, but so many reviews are sponsored or paid. I don't even trust the "before and after" "proof" pictures. Sometimes they fake it. I'm also a bit afraid to put anything on my hair, too, because who knows if it makes it worse.

From what I've read, they say hair just doesn't grow back. What you've got is what you've got, and that's it.

So, have you tried any hair loss products that actually worked to regrow you hair?

What did you use that really helped?

Are you male or female? Taking choline and inositol will accomplish what you want, but it works better for females.

I'm F.

And you mean it can help actually regrow new hairs, or just help only existing ones?

Regrow the hair you lost. From what you say, it sounds like you have nutritional issues also. Try taking natural iron (not ferrous sulfate), folic acid, D3, and biotin.

Lalafortunaea, have you looked into coconut oil? That's one thing I know will work. In my case I have too much, when I shave with coconut oil my hair grows back fast too. There are some real nutrients you might find help too.

You also may have thyroid issues, i.e., low on iodine. Get some iodine and put it on your skin to see how fast it's absorbed. If it's gone in a few hours, your body is starving. It should take a day or two to go away. It's surely nutritional. Try a few things until you hit the right one. The recommendations I gave are required for healthy hair, so you need those nutrients regardless.

Thanks everyone for the responses.

I've got some coconut oil, but I don't usually use it. My hair is already so oily naturally, I'm always fighting that.

And okay, I'll see about getting those supps.

As for iodine, could I just put it on my head too??

No, iodine will dye your hair. You are just putting it on your skin for the test. Healthy hair comes from within. Iodine is in supplemental form. Have you cut back recently on salt?
