Oh yes I have. For being seen as female....denied benefits and equal wages even though working harder and better than the men doing same job. Not allowed to take shop or play football etc. (even though "off the record, no credit given" I trained the football team for two years in how to tackle/fall/roll etc. and was stronger than the guys) For being fat.....not going to elaborate at this time..... For being disabled. In school, was; For dyslexic/dyspraxia. For not having nice clothes. For having wrong weight and height, hairdo etc, so even though chosen for show choir and the it's academic television show due to high talent, highest regional IQ (180); but was rejected anyhow due to those other physical factors. For being non Christian.(denied many social services, as was my son, and us both assaulted and had my property vandalized and death threats made, and labeled as witches for having red hair and wearing black by "good Christians") Sorry, that was not all discrimination, but yeah, some Christians have caused me much grief. As to being discriminated by Christians; quote: Well America is very fuqued up! When my ex3 and I went to get married, we were refused at the court house 7 times!!!!!!!!!! Why? WE WERE NOT PERMITTED TO SIMPLY HAVE THE LEGAL CONTRACT SIGNED! THE JUDGES ALL SAID; YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE CHRISTIAN CEREMONY OR WE WILL NOT SIGN THE LEGAL CERTIFICATE!Well we found a pagan who had an ordination which made her be able to just sign the LEGAL CONTRACT. Yeah, her ordination was Christian but she totally ignored all that crap and signed the LEGAL certificate. We did our own vows in the lake. The ceremony part is not a legal thing. The certificate is. Why the fraking fuquque ups at the courthouse refused us was plainly blatantly illegal and discriminatory! They said go get married by your own kind, BUT IT WILL NOT BE LEGAL! Then I asked; "what if people are Buddhist or whatever?" They said, ONLY CHRISTIANS OR THOSE HAVING THE CHRISTIAN CEREMONY DONE HERE CAN BE MARRIED HERE AT THE COURTHOUSE OR BY A JUSTICE OF THE PEACE AND HAVE THE LEGAL DOCUMENT SIGNED. PS. We got married for the legal reasons, HIPPA, insurance and so forth. As far as I am concerned..... Marriage contracts should be legal only and called a partner contract for any couple, hetero, gay, whatever. And if anyone wants a religious/spiritual ceremony of any kind..... do that separate from the legal partnership document. They are not the same thing!
Oh, lets not forget contempt of court for refusing to swear on a Bible because I do not swear on a thing I do not believe in and do not feel should be a part of the legal system. Where is the common sense and logic in having me or any non Christian or atheist being told they must swear on a Bible? "to tell the truth and the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God." whilst touching a thing they do not believe in and swearing an oath over it, that so called holy book they do not believe in; and in essence being told by these Christian rules; which have no legal nor ethical and moral right right to be included in any/the legal proceedings; to swear via a lie, to tell the truth.

I am sorry you've gone through so much. Sounds crazy.Maybe one day we'll colonize different planets, and we can spread ourselves out around the galaxy. Each solar system having a different set or principals, and then we can decide where we want to live... IP: Logged |

Nope. And, the thing that sucks about it is the feeling that we all got robbed of a wonderful experience in life... Here we are in this most beautiful place on earth, in the middle of stars... and instead of being able to really enjoy it, we have to fight off constant crud from others...

I have felt slightly discriminated against. Because I am a black woman I feel that some expect me to be "ghetto" or "attitudish", stupid, or uneducated, but I try not to think anything of it and when the persons sees me for who I am, they often feel pretty small I remember when I worked at NY Hospital I called a patient in to register (an elderly caucasian (sp?) male) when I sat him down at my desk and begin to ask him demographic questions, he blurted out "Wow, you speak so well!" I was like EEERRR?? (Scooby Doo voice) then he quickly tried to clean up his mess by saying my voice was beautiful and it reminded him of his mother :/ Yes, lots of folks are discriminated against. My philosophy is to be you, be proud of you and f*ck who thinks otherwise IP: Logged |

Here is an exerpt of my John Lennon for President assignment;"John Lennon unknowingly (or maybe knowingly) immortalized himself through his classic melody Imagine. Why will this song stand the test of time? The world depicted in Imagine is indeed the world we are meant to be and eventually will become. A world where everyone is their true and complete self and hate no longer exists. John Lennon exemplified the idea that, in order for the world to evolve, we must begin to love ourselves, forgive ourselves of our faults or downfalls and accept our individuality whilst embracing the diversity in everyone else. He was passionate about spreading the message (anti-war movement) and teaching the masses regardless of how often he was mocked or criticized." Accepting our individuality whilst EMBRACING the DIVERSITY in everyone else. Can you "Imagine" a world where we are all this way?

Sure. I was fired from a job for shaving my head. I was told I could have my job back when my hair grew back. Meanwhile, there were several bald men that worked there. I shouldn't have been surprised. This was the same place that had me take the responsibilities of a previous male manager but wouldn't give me a raise or title. IP: Logged |

ahh yea discrimination havnt we all been there?! gender discr. is the worst and probably the most common today. you know Lebanese women can not give their children the lebanese citizenship if the father wasn't lebanese!! also if the father dies then the custedy of a child goes automaticaly to the paternal uncle without question and it would be up to him to decide wether to grant full custidy to the mother or not..its very sad i tell you and so damn difficult to be a woman in the middle east! also as Arabs post 9/11 discrimination has gone above and beyond! a friend of mine lost his well deserved scolarship to the US just because his name is Jihad wich is a very common and so not politicaly affiliated name!

While the world is a better place eqality wise. White people still to this day are more privliged in this country. BUT Well I am white, white people get descriminated too. I was the only white person at my old job. Lots of people I worked with there where nice to me. But some like the main manager, was treating me different from everyone else! He would act nice to your face and talk sh!t about me behind my back. I was supose to get some kind of promotion. I guess they have rules that whoevers been there longer gets the promo. He gave it to some new guy. When he got busted. His exuse for not giving it to me was that I'M 'SLOW'. Did he have any evidence to back it up? NO! (this is just one example of his discrimination) While I have reports from other people saying that I'm a good hard worker. See I did have people there that where on my side. So they offered it to me and then I declined cause they didn't want to give me a raise. And I put up with way to much sh!t there. That job was the wake up call for me to get a real job and go back to school. IP: Logged |

discrimination comes from the minds of ignorants. but at the same time, an obsessive "political correctness" makes me want to vomit!!i probably get discriminated more than i notice, for being an Asian in Western countries. AND behaving Western in Asian counties (this i notice more). i think people have forgot to differentiate harmless remarks about differences and stuff with malicious intents. the world is getting dull, because too many people think it's a good thing for everyone to be the same. ugh. i remember, a friend of mine made this beautiful underground film, and there are "blackface" folks in it. when he showed it at film festivals in the US, many people were very offended, except the black people who took it with good humour. (it's really hard to find it i guess, but here's a link, if anyone wants to see it. http://www.kulturserver-hildesheim.de/home/storch/englisch/estart.htm) IP: Logged |

I was discriminated against because of my race. In my home country, you were either black, white, colored (a term used to describe people who were descendants of the Khoi San and Dutch or Malay people etc) or Indian. My siblings and I didn't fit into any of those ethnic groups so we were treated as outcasts. I remember a teacher at elementary school refering to me as a "little white Indian". There was also an incident with my dad. He picked me up from my maternal grandparents. He had me strapped in the back seat, then heard a police sirin. He pulled over and four police officers got out the van. They took a look in the vehicle and when they spotted me, they started shouting at my dad, demanding to know who's child was in the car. When he said that I'm his daughter, they accused him of lying and started beating him. One policeman removed me from the vehicle (I was screaming and scared). He kept asking me where my mommy and daddy where. It was a terrible experience. They thought my dad had kidnapped me as I couldn't possibly be his daughter..according to them an Indian man can't have "white" kids. They arrested him..and I had to stay at the police station until my mum came to get us. I was five at the time. They pressed charges against the policemen but nothing came of the case. ------------------

I've been discriminated against for lots of things. I shrug most of it off though. But I thought I'd share something as I think it was funny.Years ago a white guy I knew said he was repeatedly thrown off public computers for minorities at a junior college that's supposed to provide these computers to the public in exchange for being supported with taxes. He claimed that he still had time left when it happened. So I took it my Discordian Kabal and our leader, Miss Ann (or "Mistress Anarky"), decided to involve our kabal in another enlightening prank known as an OM. (Being an Aquarius she was good at coming up with OMs ) Just so you know we were 5 women and I was the only ("token" in the words of Miss Ann) white girl. Miss Ann is a very dark black, so dark that even others in the black community have given her a hard time over it (as well as for being so book smart and having weird interests). Natch, Miss Ann has faced discrimination from other races such as whites as well. Some of us took the remaining 3 computers after the white guy got on (one waited on the couch) and then Miss Ann entered and said she needed a computer right then. If the librarian told her to wait her turn or got someone else off who had already had their minimum time then we wouldn't do anything, but sure enough she told the white guy to get off and insisted when he said he had about 20 minutes left. Then, as planned, he said I should get off instead of him and I rudely told him to leave me alone feminazi. Miss Ann said, "Someone better get off" and we both told her to shut up "cracker." Then I pointed at another member of our cabal at the next computer who was obviously of Asian descent who told me to shut up "commie chink." Finally our entire kabal (and the white guy) were calling each other racist, sexist names that made no sense since the derogatory names would only apply to the ones using them rather than who they were used on. But we didn't even last a full minute before we all started laughing. Miss Ann told the gaping librarian about the golden apple of discord where arguing who was the most beautiful, the most deserving, inevitably led to conflict, such as to the fall of Troy, and that all races were beautiful, and a social construct rather than an objective reality, and favoring one race over another was making the argument that one race was superior to another and that was promoting discord instead of harmony & equality that would lead to tragedy just as arguing who was the most beautiful and deserving led to tragedy for Troy, and that reverse racism was still racism as she hoped we demonstrated (like the Asian calling me a chink). She ended by reaching into her purse (which caused the librarian to flinch for some reason) and pulled out an apple in gold gift wrap and the words (construction paper cut outs glued to it) "Kallisti" & "To is the Most Beautiful" on it and offered it to her. "Will you say we're all beautiful, or will you fight over the apple of discord?" She was staring stunned (and didn't take the apple) and I think she was a little scared when one patron started clapping. That broke her out of her insensibility and she banned all of us from ever going there again. A student there told us right after that we could fight to have the ban overturned but we didn't bother. I don't know if anyone learned anything from our OM but at least it was fun. Miss Ann is now my BFF and we've been close for years. Our kabal broke up years ago and everyone but me and Ann (her real name is Dacia, though I call her V now because she dyed her hair violet) have moved to other cities (save one other but she has nothing to do with us now, and we do visit with another from time to time). We're no longer Discordians, I'm an agnostic now while she's currently a Taoist. Like me, she's faced discrimination for many reasons, but one thing we've both been discriminated for is being so weird. IP: Logged |
