There seems to be lies circulating about conservatives stating that conservatives as a general rule are prejudiced against African Americans or are racist. Racism crosses all party lines. I know plenty of people who are conservatives, and none (that I'm aware of) are racist. I know African American conservatives, Asian American conservatives, Native American conservatives, and many many many female conservatives. Race isn't an issue. Color of skin isn't an issue. We conservatives have reasons for not liking Obama, and they are purely political; however, I am glad we have a President of color, because it shows progression. And I look forward to a conservative woman President in the next election. Calling all conservatives racist just shows how low some people will go...and how hateful and venemous people will stoop in lying to discredit others. I feel very sorry for narrow-minded hateful people like that who obviously use equality only as a mask, while they are actually nothing of the sort.

I dunno. I've met a lot of racist, homophobic, sexist conservative republicans.

But, I'VE ALSO MET QUITE A FEW racist, homophobic, sexist progressive democrats.

Makes you wonder.

As I said, it crosses barriers. That's the problem with stereotypes.

Itís sad that in these ďmodernĒ times people still whip out the race card when disagreements regarding politics arise.
We canít promote unity if stereotyping certain people with certain political groups are still evident. Personally I donít give a rats @$$ what political party one belongs to, whether your Republican or Democrat (we donít even have that choice in my country, choosing between Republic or Democrat) as unique individuals of this Earth we should look beyond skin color because this World consists of a rainbow nation race.

We canít preach Love and Peace if deep down thereís animosity towards people of a different race. Debating what political leaders contribute or lack does not mean itís a racial issue!

I realize that not all conservatives are racists, and you can find racial minorities who are conservative. However, there are so many talking heads who lean racist that it sets a bad precedent. Off the top of my head is Rush Limbaugh who called people who accomplish things something positive (I forget what) except for black people who he attributes their success to white guilt (as if there's no other way they could succeed, unlike whites ). And then you get signs like this at tea party rallies:

Again, I'm not saying all conservatives are racists (but I've known and know plenty who are), but when that's allowed to spread without condemnation it looks very bad. And these aren't isolated examples which is why I--who also isn't an Obama supporter--have come to the view that many oppose Obama for racist reasons (though they'll borrow more rational reasons and outright excuses instead of admitting to their bigotry).

Btw, I pointed out to a black friend of mine some racist comments made at the shooting range I go to and she said she already knew which is why she stopped going years earlier. Being black she faced that racial bigotry where it had been invisible to me for a long while because it hadn't been directed at me as I'm white. So just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not there.

That said, I've met plenty of sexist, racist Democrats, too. And I recall one who was so condescending toward blacks that I'd think it was more insulting than outright hate because he assumed black people couldn't take care of themselves and--simply by being black--would automatically be on welfare.

(If it isn't obvious I'm a Libra and trying to balance the scales here... )

Sorry PixieJane but I've never seen signs anything like this at any tea party rallies...or any place else for that matter.

So, where did you come up with this picture?

Frankly, there are some who have and still are attempting to balance off the death spewing leftist nuts with what they insist is racism or threatening behavior by tea party members...BUT, there is no evidence it's true.

I forget where I originally saw it (though I thought it had something to do with the Tea Party) but I typed in "Obama" and "witch doctor" and found the image. Doing it again I found this:
http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/07/conservative_activist _forwards_racist_pic_showing.php

I'm aware there have been liberals who posted fake signs in a rally but the Tea Party has been pretty good about posting counter signs (like "Not With Us") when someone is playing an over the top nazi. But signs like this, which look bad, don't seem to get the same treatment. And it's just an example.

And to date I've only known of one black member in the Tea Party who showed up at one gathering with an AR-15 (which was considered extremely unusual when it happened) and that's about it. Given that there are plenty of black conservatives (and I know one black moderate conservative who thinks the Tea Party is racist) that's pretty strange itself. I'd think there would be at least a few minorities there unless they were made to feel uncomfortable there.

Well, I can't find any information that David McKalip is a member of a tea party. He's certainly not on the Board of Directors of the Punta Gorda (FL) tea party.

These are the Punta Gorda Tea Party board members.
Paula Schaff, President
Louis Macri, Vice-President
Bill Bigelow, Treasurer
Board Members:
Steven D. Carroll
Joseph Duglosz, PhD
Mary Kosieracki
Michael Metyk
Mark Zehr

It appears he did write an opening paragraph on their web page and it's sure true that David McKalip is a medical doctor and anti-O'BomberCare activist.

What's also true is that anyone who is opposed to big spending government, for low taxes, for low unemployment, for smaller government and against O'BomberCare is automatically a tea party member in the eyes of leftists; including the leftist press.

Is Dr David McKalip a tea party member? I don't know and can't find a membership list. It's true the Punta Gorda Tea Party had David McKalip in to speak to them about O'BomberCare.
