Why isn't this issue ever brought up even though it is very prevalent in western culture?

Female discrimination is more historically prevalent. Girls in the Western world are often told not to stand discrimination through school and media, men aren't. It's not a societal focus because it hasn't been happening as long.

We generally need to experience both extremes before we know balance.

Because most men don't seem to mind it, have less need to fear anything from it, a man's reputation is likely to be helped rather than harmed by it (the old what makes a man a stud makes a woman a **** thing), and if they complain then other guys are likely to laugh at them rather than being understanding. As someone once explained it (and has been oft repeated):

“When a man talks dirty to a woman it's sexual harassment. When a woman talks dirty to a man it's $3.95 a minute.”

PS: And while I know men can be sexually harassed by women (as well as by men) I doubt it's as prevalent as you think.

I just notice it seems to be politically correct to say anything about men nowadays. I saw a really disturbing video where a women's talk show was talking about how a woman had cut off a mans area and put it in a garbage dispossal and the whole audience roared with laughter.

Once in a blue moon someone (invariably someone who repeatedly posts about how men are victims of women) like to tell of such shows & videos. Each and every time I've asked for specifics and no one can identify the said vid or show to the point that I'm starting to wonder if it's even just made up/imagined rather than some rare piece of trash they found. Can you break the cycle and be the first to give the name of the vid or show so I can google it or maybe at least learn more about the supposed show that does this? If so then I can finally say something that isn't as vague as your claim.

In any case if that showed on prime time it would get canceled fast and it would cause quite the uproar, by women as well as men. Granted, you should be able to find just about any kind of trash if you look hard enough (my cousin is a huge fan of Jackass, which btw seems to find nut shots hilarious, though it's a politically incorrect show by men for men), yet even the behavior (including in the audience) on the ever popular Jerry Springer isn't considered socially acceptable in most places and so many seem to hold its show and audience in contempt that (given its popularity) I can only assume that many who condemn the show secretly watch it (same for Jackass). But when it comes down to it even if every single incident of an audience cheering over the sexual mutilation of males was true it's still so rare that people who talk about them can't list even a single specific example. Otherwise they'd be saying, “Well Oprah has 'ball busting specials' once a month” or something, if it truly were socially acceptable and entertaining.

Come to think of it I can't think of a single Family Guy or South Park ep that went there (unless you count Cartman threatening violence to genitals, which I don't as he's typically depicted as an obnoxious idiot which is funny--to laugh AT, not with--but not admirable) and they're not the least bit PC or restrained (and I'm surprised Family Guy gets away with what it does given that it's Primetime on FOX).

And in my experience it's men who seem to laugh a lot more and be obsessed with male genitalia, though so many of them seem to fear women doing something (those myths of the vaginas with teeth are a personal favorite, an ancient precursor to myths of women wanting to dispose of male genitalia in garbage disposals). And as someone who has dabbled in fanfic writing and beta reading other authors I've noticed that it's men who also seem obsessed with this, whether to punish an offending male or even as dark comedy (one man thought it was high comedy that a jock got his balls shot off by a stray bullet, though given how bad he said he was bullied in school there might be some vindictiveness there against jocks).

Anyway, I hope you can give a specific example of this show you've seen because after having heard so much about them I just HAVE to see an actual example. I'm betting that even if you can provide it that I'm either gonna find it's taken completely out of context or it's a trash show no one would consider respectable or play on Primetime.

In the video you will see that the panel of women think it is hysterical, one even points out that if a man had cut off a woman's boobs nobody would be laughing, and another answers: that's different, and the crowd again howls with laughter.

Thank you. I saw it. At first I think it was more uncomfortable laughter but it did descend into very poor taste following Osbourne's lead.

However, it was not without controversy and there were boycotts over it just like when some comedian (including Sandra Bernhard) or celebrity makes some tasteless rape or domestic battery jokes and I still remember how many defended David Letterman over his joking about Palin's underage daughter getting knocked up by a professional baseball player and he remains popular despite this and even after admitting to cheating on his wife by having sexual affairs with his female employees.

@pixie Jane, also not saying that men are victims, just saying that discrimination goes both ways, there are pros and cons of being both a man or a woman,I don't think either is any worse off.

Because women have been oppressed pretty much since the beginning of time and men haven't.

Because men don't have to worry about someone retaliating against them at work or in another setting if a male superior or another male harasses them (or worse) and they speak up.

Because of rape culture.

Because adult men don't have to constantly worry about where they go, what they wear, or if someone much bigger and physically stronger will rape them when they're going about their daily lives, in an unevenly matched and unfair fight that they cannot likely win. The odds of an adult male being raped outside of a prison are highly unlikely.

Because men don't have to deal with being harassed on the street and being told that they should take sexually offensive comments as "compliments".

Because men don't have to deal with people staring at them inappropriately.

Because men are not socially conditioned to be "nice" and to not stand up for themselves.

Because men do not have their reproductive rights under attack, and are not denied access to voluntary sterilization nearly as often as women are. Because men are not expected to want kids just because they are male.

Because men have had the right to vote long before 1920 in the US.

Because men aren't objectified and treated as little dolls.

And I could go on and on and on.

I'm not saying that men never suffer, that all men are bad, or that women do nothing wrong. None of those things are true. However, a lot of men tend to be completely clueless as to the fear and anxiety that women have to live with, and invalidate us when we are angry about it.
