I know some folks here may well have a jolly old time making fun of these images.

However;
Leonard has captured lovingly, with great appreciation for, I feel; the beauty and passion and confidence of the BBW and older women. (BBW=Big Beautiful Woman)
All I can say is;
God Bless You Leonard!

Warning!

Hmmmm....in a past life perhaps he was one of the Pre Raphaelites!

I would soooooo love to be photographed by him!
I have wondered how I could contact him.
Anyone have any ideas?
I met him in 1982.
A lovely lovely intelligent gentle fellow!
He will be 81 soon, so time is of an essence.

PS.
I should have tried to contact him when I was 140 pounds heavier!

I agree!
In many ancient cultures such women would have been considered goddesses!
Even now there are folks who find such voluptuousness sensuous and beautiful!

The Full Body Project
Leonard Nimoy

Who are these women? Why are they in these pictures? What are their lives about? How do they feel about themselves? These are some of the questions I wanted to raise through the images in this collection.

This current body of work is a departure for me. For a number of years, I have been producing images using the female figure. I have worked with numerous models who were professional people earning their living by posing, acting, dancing, or any combination thereof. But, as has been pointed out to me in discussions at exhibitions of my work, the people in these pictures always fell under the umbrella of a certain body type. I’ll call it a "classic" look. Always within range of the current social consensus of what is "beautiful." In fact, that was the adjective I most often heard when my work was exhibited. The women as they appeared in my images were allotted no individual identity. They were hired and directed to help me express an idea—sometimes about sexuality, sometimes about spirituality—and usually about feminine power. But the pictures were not about them. They were illustrating a theme, a story I hoped to convey.

These women are interested in "fat liberation." They hold jobs in the theater, the film industry and in business—and together they perform in a burlesque presentation called "Fat Bottom Revue." The nature and degree of costuming and nudity in their performances is determined by the venue and the audience, which can range from children’s birthday parties, to stag parties. I wanted these pictures to be more about them. These women are projecting an image that is their own. And one that also stems from their own story rather than mine. Their self-esteem is strong. One of them has a degree in anthropology and will tell you that ideas of beauty and sexuality are "culture bound"—that these ideas are not universal or fixed, and that they vary and fluctuate depending on place and time. They will tell you that too many people suffer because the body they live in is not the body you find in the fashion magazines.

My process was simple, yet different than how I had worked in the past. I was initially interested in revisiting two works of female subjects by Herb Ritts and Helmut Newton: specifically Ritts' image of a group of supermodels, who were posed nude and clustered together on the floor, and a Newton diptych wherein the two images are identical in pose, except one image showed the models clothed, and the other showed them unclothed. The models were shown the images by Herb Ritts and Helmut Newton and they were quite prepared to present themselves in response to the poses that those images suggested. I asked them to be proud, which was a condition they took to easily, quite naturally. Having completed the compositions that were initially planned, I then asked them to play some music that they had brought with them, and they quickly responded to the rhythms, dancing in a free-form circular movement with in the space. It was clear that they were comfortable with the situation, with each other, and were enjoying themselves.

With these new images, I am now hearing different words. Sometimes "beautiful," but with a different sub-text. I hear comments, which lead to questions. The questions lead to discussions—about beauty, social acceptability, plastic surgery, our culture and health. In these pictures these women are proudly wearing their own skin. They respect themselves and I hope that my images convey that to others.

And again I want to say;
God Bless you Leonard!

I do not feel like a Huttese because of your photos. I have lost over 140 pounds, and I intend on losing much more weight, but as I do, at each stage I can now see that yes, I am not traditionally figured, but I can work with that and be myself and feel and be beautiful.

I agree, LEXX. I like to accentuate what I have. I may not have the body I'm happy with, but I have killer legs, pretty eyes, nice full lips

I rock what I got in the meanwhile, until I hit my goal weight

Oh yes!
I know this as in my online and offline life men from Africa and Asia and Mideastern men.....yeah very interested in me! LOL!
Scared the heck out of me though!
My self esteem kept saying...
"they must be crazy or have some diseases to want me"
Who knows?
But while it was/is nice to be admired it is scary too when it is because of my appearance first and not my mind.

I try and do the same, a bit harder at age 56, but hey, I do my best!
I think for the hell this body has gone through and being disabled, along with extreme weight loss, well, I am doing very good in the looks department!
Still worried though about the continued weight loss Sharpei effects though, but oh well, for overall health, I'll sacrifice looks to feel better!

Well, remember the Treasure mapping, baby! No worries!

I've been researching MSM and DMSO. There are some people that use this to prevent/minimize loose skin during weightloss. I bought the MSM lotion and the supplements. I will keep you posted if there is a change.

I also use Shapely Secrets, which are isometric exercises only 7 minutes a day and I feel so strong! I think this will be good for toning.

I'm pretty obsessed I think :/ I can have all the products but they mean nothing if I don't implement.

Anyway, 56 is not old and you are beautiful. I'd gladly buy some hair from you Mine would NEVER grow that long, thank God for weaves

Please do!
Where do I buy such?
It is the skin toning up I am most concerned with.
Muscle wise I am fine and can build more easily as I have high testosterone levels.

I need to order some of those miracle noodles too next check I get!

I do a lot of isometrics every day! Oh they definitely work!
I will post my ab and other exercises if you wish! Very easy and some you can do sitting even!

Thank you!
I do not feel old.
It is surreal that number!
My hair is so thin compared to years ago.
I like hair weaves too but do not know how to do fancy ones.
When I get my weight down I want someone to do my hair up in cornrows and beads and all! I love them!

Awww, that'd be pretty, loooong red cornrows

I'm glad you don't feel old, I was overly concerned about you stating you are 56 because I didn't want you to focus so much on "age illusion" (this is just my Cancer moon imposing as usual)

I wish I knew how to cornrow. Have you ever had them, OOOOH they hurt! I have a chubby face so cornrows aren't flattering for me

I like lace wigs! http://www.rpgshow.com has some GOOD ones, expensive though so I'm gonna get one just to see I think I'd look pretty with long hair.

I know how to do them lexx, cornrows.
I learned in beauty school.
However, with your hair, I think my shoulder would go in traction afterwards!

You will probably need more than one girl to work on it, and it will take awhile!

I like them too, and dreadlocks as well.

Thank you again for the compliments about my hair!
It was 4 feet long (when I was 85 pounds heavier in this picture)

but have trimmed it to my butt now. Got tired of sitting on it or getting caught in my pants or car doors.

Never had cornrows but a kinda variation the Amish do.

Those lace wigs are lovely but oh my they are rather costly!
I like braiding things like feathers, beads and ribbons and bells and such into my hair.

Oh I am OK about being age 56.

It is the weight loss sags and bags I hate.

Otherwise, it is simply a very surreal number.
I feel like 35ish.
Wish I looked 35ish though.
Well when I get rich I intend to get at least my face lifted.
The rest, well, rather dangerous, so, may have to just live with that.

On that note;
hope to go to the gym today and sign up for their weight loss challenge.
I have already lost 145 pounds to date.
I hope to lose at least 50 pounds by Fall this year. That will get me to what I was in the picture of me in the costume where I looked pretty good. (right pic)
>>>deleted<<<
Later want to take off another 50 pounds, (left pic) but that I want to do slowly, as that takes me to rather thin.
For now at the gym, at least a trial membership so I can get myself able to walk without a cane and go up stairs without crawling up and butt bumping down them, and of course to firm up more/get my stamina back.
Wish me good luck!

OOOhhhhhh!
Just called the gym!
It is only $50 for the 8 weeks weight loss challenge instead of the usual $120 it would cost.
Soooo......
hopefully I can get signed up!
Then hopefully I can have enough days when my being disabled does not bed bound me, so I can work out!
Well I hate taking prescription pain meds but, if that's what I might have to do, I will.
And hopefully I can get regular transportation to it also.
It is a 24/7 gym so can even work out in the middle of the night!
And it is only 1 1/2 miles from me!

LEXX,

I'm sorry, I didn't see these questions!

MSM supplements I ordered online, the powder is GROSS so I take the pills and use the lotion on my problem areas like my breasts and tummy, it is too early to tell if there is a change or not.

MSM supplements should be available in GNC and Vitamin Shoppe

Miracle noodles are ADDICTIVE mann!! I'm trying raw a raw food experiment, first I said 10 days but I will go for 30 days now just to see how it will go.

Today for breakfast I had a banana and some blurberries, for lunch I had a bag of miracle noodles with some raw chopped cabbage and carrots, pickled sweet peppers and olives, raw garlic, red onion, seasalt and a little olive oil.

I feel good so far I do miss chicken though. MMM a nice fat drumstick (SORRY OT)

Thinning hair is normal for everyone (this is why I am buying a wig) but you can add tracks to your own hair and will get lots of fullness

Thank you for that information.
Sigh
In my heyday I was in a GNC/Gold's Gym advertisement, Yep, I was once very fit.

It is still about our bodies and all.

Oh yes, it is normal, and when losing weight hair thickness suffers.
It comes back a bit after weight loss.
I love hair falls too.
Hard to find in my color though.

Oh!
I signed up for the 8 week weight loss challenge at the gym!
I tried out the treadmill and was able to use it and the Cybex and Matrix machines.
Had my first weigh in.
A gorgeous Gym!
I was like drooling just about!

Might go back tonight and work out.

I got in for only $12 instead of $25 to $39 a month!!!!!!!!!

Lovely pics!

Thanks for finding this thread for me. I'm trying to get back into Zumba at the gym, as that's the only exercise 'program' I can stick to without getting bored (and it is the way I lost the weight this last year around). I had to stop because I got accepted into my program of study last fall and the first semester left me no free time to go to the gym. Things are a little different this time so I atleast get in two days at the gym this week, I'm trying to be greedy and squeeze in a third day but we'll see.

I guess I should be grateful that I'm not 175 anymore and suffering from various physiological problems associated with it (I'm too short and small boned to carry that kind of weight..it was awful) but I still blah.

I'm happy for you Lexx, the gym sounds great! I do wish you good luck!

*Speaking of bodies, hopefully this isn't too off topic, but do any of you ladies know of anything that removes stretch marks, or at least lightens them???

I am a very small person, who got very large with my middle child, my only son.
He was almost 8 pounds, which is large in my family. We mostly have between 5 and 6 pound babies.
I did have to have an emergency c-section, and I realize that probably nothing can be done about that scar (especially since I had a second one two years later) but the stretch marks still remain from the pregnancy, and it was 15 years ago!!

The skin was so damaged, that it cracked and bled for awhile.
First they were red, then they turned an awful blusish color and now they are mostly white, with some red.

I want to wear a nice bathing suit and halter tops, but, ughh, I hate to subject anyone to my "Freddy Kreuger" tummy.
Blechh.

And thank you!

GypseeWind
Thank you!

Stretch marks.
Do you tan?
I do not.
Tanning will often "set"
the stretch mark and they will never go away.
Mine each given time;
never go away but fade to fine fine lines that make the skin look/feel kinda cool like silky satiny moire fabric or softest smoothest ultra suede.
Tattoos can cover some.
Might be too late but moisturizing helps them not re-tear.
Sorry I do not have any other advice.
