Which are you thumbsdown to, Lexxigramer?

THIS opinion (if it is what they think) is TRUE--- that there are some "sick, sick, sick," people here in this country. And some of these are making laws that "destroy" the Good we have strived for.... some have labored with their LIVES for.

These 'obstructionists' in congress and in legislatures, in rabid-church politics, have positioned themselves into strategic places where they are HURTING people...... even OURSELVES!! They do not have conscious awareness..... They are in a weird weird Unreality!!

After I attended the free online conference on Religion and Women at the Carter Center site (end of June 2013), my eyes were opened to what, how, and why the countries have opinions of us 'collectively' that are negative! OMG, even I didn't "realize" what corrupt politicians and church misplaced-zeal "did" to others in the world....... I GRIEVE for this!!!! I DIDN'T "know"......

With all my heart, I want to tell the world that I feel this action by those church-political-extremists is ABSOLUTELY crude, dishonorable, deplorable, disgusting, REPULSIVE, and soooo depressing to me.... omg!!!!

"God" will have to sort it out.... Calamity is on OUR heads because of this kind of "sin" they are committing.... It is Crime against ourselves, and the rest of the world.... I'm SO sorrrryyyyy this is happening.

The Queen is Blessed, and is a BLESSING!!

I feel such SHAME in my soul over what they have said and done to this dignified Woman.... I am sooooooo UTTERLY ashamed...

America, my nation, needs deepest healing right now........

Pray for the CRUELTY to stop!! Let us come together, and get along! No more cruelty!!

Thanks Lexxigramer...

"This makes America look like..."

I was confused over whether you are upset that 'the article' makes us look bad?
Or that 'anti-gay church' acting out?

I would take it as that anti-gay church.

Or were you trying to say that "we" of the USA are to be considered, separate from the "bunch of mindless hate loving religious zealots and red necked KKK style bigots.:

With sick sick sick you have thumbsdown... is 'disapproval' for the article or the 'bad behavior' of the bigots?

(I would 'assume' you were referring to the bigots. Just wanting to make sure I'm understanding? ....... No harm intended Lexxi, really.... My intent towards you is peace. I just wanted to make sure I was understanding correctly...

Thanks for waiting for me.... {{{hugs}}}

I was thumbsdowning at the homophobic bigots;
and them attacking the wonderful decision of the Queen.
I was thumbsdowing because it makes us as country appear like red neck morons etc. I have seen Brits knocking Americans, cowboys and all.
Knocking the Queen's wonderful decision is just wrong.
So have I explained well enough?
I think the Queen is brave for doing that and shows her heart is in the right place.
Westborough nutcases are just plain disgusting and an embarrassment to America.

I hope things get better for you.
Thanks for asking for clarification.
As it is said; without using the cuss words;
Assumption is the mother of all screw ups; never assume!

Yes, okay.

My own understanding is much more in balance now.... Nice and clear.

And I love that we were able to 'wait for each other' so misunderstandings didn't happen based on assumptions... yay!

Thanks Lexxigramer!!

YES!
If something is not clear,
yes please please kindly
Ask! Ask! Ask!
Never assume!
I am aware of the fact that I am sometimes unclear.
That old Dyslexia acting up due to pain and or stress/pain;
makes me at times too focused and I just want to say what is on my mind;
but what is obvious in my mind does not always play out in the typed word.
I know some folks think asking for clarification is rude;
but it is not.
As long as the query is honest, and not one being sarcastic or whatever;
then there are no stupid questions.
Better to ask and not assume what was meant.

Just disgraceful if you ask me, calling her that was nonsense and did make us look bad in terms of lacking open mindedness. It was a very low jab.

Is there anyone outside of America who thinks Westboro are "typical Americans"?

If so then they should know even our KKK (which most Americans, even many white racists, hold in contempt) looks down on them as does FOX (granted, this is more for their thanking God for 9/11 and dead soldiers than anything else). Unfortunately, their homophobic bigotry is pretty common, but most anti-gay bigots won't be that crass about it (though death threats and violent hate crimes are all too common...) even if some big name fundies (including on the 700 Club) have blamed gays (and feminists, liberals, etc) for 9/11 and Katrina while others have publicly said children who don't conform to gender/heterosexual roles should be beaten (and I mean calling outright for punches) which comes really close to being like Westboro. When confronted about that and things like supporting "kill the gays" bill in Africa (showing what they'd like to happen in America one day) they downplay it, typical evil people fleeing the light, unlike Westboro who revel in their infamy. Most hateful Christians insist they're actually loving, but not Westboro:

Westboro is insane even by the standards of Christian fundies in America (and that's saying something!).

I don't know if they think Westboro and KKK are typical of Americans,
but I have spoken with many non Americans who think America is lots like that and has insane murderous hillbillies and more creepiness.
I tried to tell them this is a big country and crazies like that are only a tiny percent. But oddly many do not have a firm grasp of geography and come from countries as small as my tiny state and do not understand that the whole of Europe can fit easy into America size wise.
So much of the bias of Americans is they do not factor in that yeah, in a tiny country small as Ohio or Indiana;
sure the amount of nutcases and fanatics would be a big percentage of the population;
but this country is much larger so those kind of people are a very small part of our population.
I hope that made sense.
Yeah it surprised me too that some people in the UK, Ireland and Scotland mostly, at least in my experience;
do think America is loaded with Westboro types.

Pardon any typos please.

Generally speaking, America is pretty crazy in the religious sense compared to most of the western world. I know that even some devoutly Catholic countries in South America look at the US and wonder what's in our drinking water for our religious expressions to get so toxic.

And FOX News...that backs a lot of that insanity. I remember the first time I saw it myself, I thought it was a dry parody show at first (ah yes, it was Glenn Beck...) until I realized I was watching the infamous FOX News I'd heard so much about...and people from Canada and Australia are absolutely gobsmacked that such a station can be so popular in our country, and even considered the most credible which makes us look really bad to them. Our right wing tends to consider all of Europe socialists and at the same time associate socialism with Mao, Hitler, Stalin, and those people often loudly display their ignorance (which often has religious tones to it, and FOX endorses it) on public forums and our politicians cater to them with outlandish statements & bills that make global news so that Europeans (even a South African I used to correspond with!) being exposed to it suddenly are left wondering what's wrong with us and how badly our schools have failed us.

And on top of that a great many Americans are fans of the 700 Club (with examples as this), supposedly respectable American magazines print insane articles like this (where National Review commented on it as if it were true), a huge number believe in Creationism (which the rest of the world, even deeply Christian countries in Europe, see about as insane as we see Flat Earthers) and Left Behind is a best seller in this country, as are political commentary that backs that such as the one by Ann Coulter who said we should invade Muslim countries, bomb and kill them until they convert to Christianity (and she's not even a Bible thumper!). They have their own Ann Coulters and such but there those people are publicly shunned with a small following, not celebrities and best selling authors as they are here in the USA. So yeah, I can understand why they think we're crazy...I have days that I agree with them, and unlike Europeans I've been exposed to it off and on my whole life that it doesn't register to me anywhere as much as it does to them, plus they're much more likely to notice the bad apples as not only are our crazies stand out so much more but those who are more normal are much easier to overlook when they're only paying attention to us online and on the news.

And too many Americans can often be identified online by extreme hostility and threats of violence (for example, this) that is extremely unusual for the rest of the civilized world (some Muslims are similar, though distinct in their "flavor"). Heck, I realized a LL poster claiming to be an Australian was an American for being so incredibly hostile and obnoxious with violent imagery (though I wasn't sure until the so called "Australian" started using American measurements rather than the metric system and then he confessed, being one who brags about coming here under a new name until banned again).

However, Westboro...they're so bad that even our typical crazies look at them the way the rest of the western world tends to look at us. I suppose if Europeans & Australians don't pay that much attention to us then they might just confuse them as just one more batch of crazies, however, rather than understanding just how much worse they are.
