Personally, I really like these machines.

Fresh baked bread is just so..yummy..nothing else to really say to describe it.

Anyone else have one of these? Any tips or interest in owning one?

Homemade bread is the best.

This thread reminds me of the times my grandma used to bake bread. It's absolutely delicious while it's still warm and the butter melts

I used to own one. Made some nice bread and pizza dough with it.
However, carbs are not my friend, so I got rid of it.

Ah, that explains why I see them at thrift stores sometimes.

For me, since I started the 30 grams of protein for breakfast within 30 minutes of waking up I've found I can eat carbs no problem..just not too many.

I don't eat wheat but I do bake bread for the family. The smell is yum! It takes my bread maker 2.5 /3 hours from adding the yeast, water, and bakers bread mix. I like putting it in at dawn, going back to bed and let everyone wake up to the smell.
I haven't done it in a while. I might start a German grain loaf tonight.

The baking time isn't bad at all compared to the traditional old way.

What a great smell to wake up to.

i love mine

i have a bunch of "complicated recipes" for health food addicts

but
basic recipe can be altered any way you want, 3 to 1 proportion for any dough

1 c hot water
3 cups flour
---
1 Tblspoon sweetener (honey works good)
1 tsp salt
optional can add a fat, 1 tsp to 1 Tbls depending on which one you pick.
---
2-1/4 teaspoons of dry yeast (make sure you buy it in the refrigerated section of y<our grocery store and keep it in the fridge
---
put the machine on the whole wheat setting so you don't have to worry about the water temperature, and it gets fluffier that way too, but it takes longer to bake

way cheaper than turning on your big oven to bake

I use this machine to make pizza dough every week for my son's pizza. I sneak in whole grain flours, even quinoa flour and grains other than wheat. Usually 1/2 cup out of the mix is not flour. Sometimes I use semolina flour. I try to use organic and whole grains but he won't eat it totally whole wheat.

sidenote: it's hard typing with a cat on my lap - that's why no capital letters, and sorry for typos
(he's my loverboy - abig guy, all black with one white whisker and a white patch on his "deleted" private parts, hee-hee)

You can buy a bread machine really cheap at 2nd hand stores... Salvation Army, etc.

They are usually clean and work well. But you should still plug them in and see if they work.

Most of the time these are gift items and the recipient uses it once or twice with a packaged bread mix and then puts it away and never uses it again.

It's a great find! Keep a look out...
