New Zealanders know Marmite. They know about the B12 benefits. How it has become a part of their daily cuisine. They know all about its flavor enhancing properties. How to use it sparingly. The secret is by using it sparingly. For many it is an acquired taste as compared to drinking fine wines. It's made out of yeast extract, a byproduct of the brewing industry.

I've never tasted it but my New Zealand friend revealed much about enjoying Marmite. The tiny bottle can last for two months, if one individual eats it every day.

Try this healthy snack. Toast a sprouted grain and seed bread for high fiber and nutrition. Spread a small amount of coconut oil on the toast. On top of that put a thin layer of Marmite with a knife. Add 2 layers of super thinly sliced red ripe tomatoes. Sprinkle with a tiny bit of salt (optional because Marmite is already salty), onion powder and garlic powder. You can add other spices if you wish, or parsley. Then just bite into the open slice and feel the nutrition penetrate your body.

---

Hors d'oeurves with Marmite. Good for tea time or kids' after school snack or appetizer. Great for a summer party served with your finest white wine.

In a fry pan, saute some organic corn kernels in butter, either a bag of frozen corn, or from a can. Make it crispy and buttery. Add spices, minced garlic or garlic powder, onion powder, (pepper and other spices opt to your taste). The corn is done when it is golden brown.

In a separate fry pan, melt butter in a pan and toast the bread slices in the pan until they are crispy on both sides, even the corners become crispy.

Sparingly spread the Marmite over the toasted bread. Cut the bread on a diagonal. Spoon the corn neatly over each triangular slice of bread. Garnish with fresh or dried parsley on top and serve on a platter.

---

These are two serving suggestions. I'm thankful My friend expanded my cuisine choices. If you are from England or New Zealand please share your Marmite traditions.

LOOOOOVE Marmite. Better than the salty flavourless vegemite..

I like having it on rice crackers and sometimes a bit of cheese. Yes, a salt addict here!

It DOES go a long way. I'm just finishing my little jar and it's been a year ago that I bought it!
