...and find out they have far superior synastry aspects than you do with him?

Sucks.

LOL good idea.

I've read that even a good synastry chart doesn't guarantee a relationship, right?

I suppose it's knowing there is someone out there "better" for them, at least in this regard.

Oh the wonders of astrology

This is called a 'false positive'. Do they know each other at all?

Yes my Aries Sun, Virgo Moon, Libra Ascendant friend with my Cancer Sun, Pisces Moon, Libra Ascendant boyfriend.
They had Kaali-Venus, a very potent aspect and let me see the other contacts..
NN-ASC
Venus-Juno
Moon opposite Moon-Mars
Eros conjunct Moon and Mars

If only he found her attractive lol

No, but if I know his exes' birthdates, I regularly obsess over synastry comparisons. How dare this girl he dated in 2006 have a nicer aspect to his Jupiter than I do? The nerve of some people, lol.

@ IndigoDirae: Not very well, at least on a personal level.

As a group we have hung out and they communicate about work related matters fairly easily and fluidly because they work in similar industries and know many of the same people, but not much past that other than the usual chit chat.

@ KarkaQueen: That's usually a pretty big part of it! I don't know if he finds her attractive, but I don't think he does. At least not enough to be intrigued by her. They have a lot of aspects between them that I wish we did!

@ starrynight: Oh believe me if I knew their birthdates, I would be doing the same...lol.

I do that all the time, not just friends but also females in the same circle. I completely isolate the ones with sexual synastry with my s.o. All further contacts are frozen.

@ Orange: Which aspects do you look for in particular? They have Sun trine Venus, Venus trine Mars, Mars conjunct Mars and Pluto conjunct Mars. They have also have a Saturn contact (Saturn conjunct Mars) where he and I have none...

The sexual aspects that involve Venus. I dont bother with Mars- Pluto or Mars - Sun, and certainly not trines.

But my hair rises when i see in one synastry a combination of ( real example) - Her Pluto conj exact his Venus, his Mars conj her Venus and his Venus opposes her Sun. Oh, and Node conjunct Venus. No bueno. The subject will be eliminated from further contacts with no advance notice.

I've done synastry charts with men I've gone on a date or 2 with & was able to get their birthdays. There were a few amazing synastry's between us but I had zero interest in them in a romantic way.
So I don't think the charts tell the story unless the 2 are already interested in each other

Hmm... do you think it would be a wise move to isolate this girl?

His Venus conj her Sun (6 degrees)
His Venus square her Asc (4 degrees)
His Mars square her Venus (1 degree)
Venus semisquare Venus (exact)
His NN conj her Venus (1 degree)

I see your worries here, but Pluto is missing from the action, to give it a relentless drive. I think he will be attracted but not in a compulsive way, just "liking" and "digging"

Yeah, no exact Pluto conjunctions, though there is a wide one (like 9 degrees, to her Sun) and a ton of wide sextiles (like 4 or 6 degrees) all over the place.

This is not enough to worry...

There is so much to take into account. I would post the synastry between you and him and her and him and include eros, psyche, juno, lust, valentine, lilith, vertex or any asteroids that are relevant for you and him and him and her (e.g. aphrodite, venusia, h22, alma, union, destinn, karma)..

I would also post composites between you and him and him and her but not just tropic composites, I would include helio composites, davidson composites and everyones 9th harmonic charts........

You also need to look at draco to natal synastry and draco to draco synastry.

You can't just look at a few aspects in synastry and feel that they have something better; a lot has to be looked at and I mean a lot before concluding that and you have to be very thorough and detail oriented..

So much work...
But... how do I put it? It's not a "better" synastry that makes me worried, it's the very fact that a lot of actual real couples have even weaker synastries. You know what I mean? A lot of the time you look at a couple's synastry, and they are an official couple, they felt enough attraction to become one, yet if you looked at their synastry without knowing anything about them, you would have said "Meh, maybe they kinda sorta might like each other a bit, and that's it." So, if such a small potential is able to create a couple, then a stronger potential is dangerous anyway? Even if it's not super-awesome-amazing kind of strong?

I suppose you would drive yourself insane going through life with this kind of paranoia though. Astrology is both a blessing and a curse in this regard. Just like in "real life" there is always perceived to be someone "better" out there - for yourself or your partner - because like "real life", they could have xyz aspects with you that your current synastry is missing.

I think ultimately you would just have to have faith in what you have with your partner and let fate take over from there.

Seriously though...

I mean if I played off of synastry, or even astrology alone I'd be out making love with my friend right now. LOL But I'm not.

I think that too much emphasis is put on interaspects in synastry and way too little on the natal chart of an individual and consequently the needs and preferences of said individual.

A guy might have a Venus in Aquarius and his girlfriend might have a Venus in Capricorn. At first glance there is no interaspect between his and her Venus but she might have her Venus conjunct Uranus natally and there you go, she fulfills the characteristics symbolized by his Venus and thus he finds her attractive.

A guy might have Mars in Aries and a woman might have a conjunction of Mars and Venus in say, Virgo - no interaspect. But her Venus has similar characteristics to a Venus in Aries, thus there might be attraction because his Mars and her Venus might function as if they were conjunct due to the symbolism and flavouring of each planet in the respective natal charts.

So just because a synastry looks meh at first glance, it doesn't mean it is.
