with my best friend (her planets first)
---------------------

ASC trine Jupiter 0.06
- she often tells me what an encouraging influence I have and that she always feels supported by me

Mercury sextile ASC 0°31
I can always talk to her, and while we are leading different lives (she is married with children, while I am not. lol), she has a great understanding of who I really am and is extremely accepting of that

Pluto sextile NN 0°36
she has had a smooth, subtle influence on me becoming aware of what my path is, yes.

Chiron opposite Uranus 0°02
I am sometimes a little too unconventional for her, yes, but somehow that helped her address some of her greatest fears (which revolve around the acceptance of others)

Chiron trine Vesta 0°03
in a way, yes, we have been dedicated to talk about her wounds again and again, analyzing them, for years actually, but eventually she became more accepting of herself

Juno conjunct pluto 0°31
Well, I introduced her to her husband, does that count?
and a lot of analyzing of the meaning of relationships to her especially.

Ceres trine Mercury 0°52
Yes, nurturing expressed through talk.

es, this is definitely us.

composite

Moon trine Mercury 0°03
WE have known each other for 25 years I think, and yes, always talking about the emotional stuff.

ASC sextile Venus 0°28
More relationship stuff with the friendly sextile

MC trine Jupiter 0°41
we have known each other before, but helped each other through university as well. And supported each other during the very exhausting teacher-in-training period. Oh and we are both teachers, nice for Jupiter here.

ASC conjunct Vertex 0°52
Yes, definitely a destined friendship

That was fun.

My friend needs Pluto though, as her Pluto is ocnjunct her Mercury-Venus-Mars-Juno, opposing her Moon and squaring her ASC natally, and his Sun-ASC completes that pattern by being on her DESC.

Interesting trines/sextiles are mostly your closest aspects. That does seem to bode well for a long friendship.

Yes, nevertheless even though I like looking at exact aspects now and then, the DW of Moon-Saturn, even though if the orb is greater, is of importance too

With Mr. Uranus

He is first.

Sun square Uranus 0'01 i swear i sometimes feel the electricity in the air, we never cease to surprise each other in some ways. And there is also this undeniable feeling of being there/not being there, playing hot/cold mostly from his side, that's associated with Uranus synastry. We are friends, but there are times when he acts in more than just a friend way, and then again back to where we started.

Sun sextile MC 0'03 He has been a positive influence for me professionally. He helped me get my current job.

Mars conjunct Juno 0'42 , i see him as perfect...

Jupiter conjunct Neptune 0'44 , this goes for the spiritual side of our relationship. We can talk hours about stuff like philosophy, ethics, etc. We both feel that we can learn much from the other. This is also conjunct our composite Sun, BTW.

Venus quincunx Venus 0'19 I don't quite grasp this one. There is general liking between us, and it's not like there is a clash between what we like.

Venus square Mars 0'34' There are sparks of attraction, at least from my side, but i've seen it coming from him as well.

Uranus trine Moon 0'08, when we are together, it's like there is a bunch of crazy ideas that we can realise. Ideas are coming from him, and i am always encouraging him to engage them. And i really do mean it - his ideas are great, and always play out better than planned. But i feel that he loves this encouragement he gets from me.

Uranus sextile Mercury 0'42 Interesting and innovative conversations, fun aspect.

Uranus sextile Venus 0'52 again fun and fuzzy

Uranus opposite Mars 0'36 this goes for attraction and not stopping surprise each other in different ways. Goes along with other Uranus synastry aspects.

Uranus square ASC 0'42 he shook my world and turned it upside down for better

Juno conjunct MC 0'23 Not sure.

DSC conjunct NN 0'50 Karmic past, big time. The first day we met he asked me to compare our charts because he said that we must have met each other in the past as well because of the shared synhronicities in our lives.

ASC sextile MC 0'49 not sure

MC square Uranus 0'14 so far i haven't shaken his career yet, but who knows what happens next

MC sextile MC 0'09 compatible careers and goals.. we do work for the same cause.

Composite:

Moon sextile Mars 0'35 Not sure.

Moon conjunct IC 0'26 , gets deep to the core. Emotions are high. This is also conjunct Pluto at a bit wider orb (2.30), so you can imagine.

Mercury quincunx Saturn 0'12 not sure

Moon sextile Neptune 0'08, dreamy quality

Mars trine Neptune 0'43 Not sure

Uranus trine ASC 0'44 no need to explain, lol

Jupiter sextile Uranus 0'44 , interesting ideas generating?

Neptune square NN 0'00 really not sure, but the orb is soooo exact.

Closest major aspects with my beau:

His Neptune conjunct my DSC (1 minute applying) in Sagittarius

His Pisces Mercury square my Sagittarius Uranus (2 minutes applying)

His Mercury square my Gemini Chiron (16 minutes applying)

Essentially, Chiron/Uranus opposition is the closest natal aspect in my chart (13 minutes applying), and his Mercury nearly exactly squares it, triangulated in the Gemini/Sagittarius axis and Pisces. Generally, Chiron/Uranus opposition has been around for a while but I think it's significant because of how exact it is, and it also falls in my 1st/7th house axis (angular).

His NN conjunct my Mars (38 minutes applying) in Capricorn.

He has written three books (Mercury), none finished, one on poetry, one on economics and a book describing a new theory for physics. Since day one I've been involved in the development of these works, helping him to finish them; have faith in his work; set out a plan of action to get them published. We're closest to finishing the poetry book, which I've provided artwork for and formatted for him for publishing. My Mercury (chart ruler, and ruler of Chiron) is in the 3rd house, and the ruler of my Uranus, Jupiter, is also conjunct his Mercury (3 degrees).

Oops, forgot composite closest aspect:

Mars square Pluto (0'22) This honestly mystifies me because usually this is interpreted as a 'violent' aspect and there is nothing violent in our relationship. However, I think a cleaner interpretation is that our relationship has a certain transformative intensity that can be abrasive; we tend to push each other into action in a very Plutonian way. Interesting, transiting Pluto was conjunct his ASC when we met, just transiting into my 8th house and conjunct my Mars and his NN a year after we started dating (one of those exact aspects) and will last 2 or 3 years with retrograde motions. Then, after it moves on, it will be conjunct his Mars and my Moon (also conjunct in synastry) for another 2 or 3 years. Pluto just all up in our business...

Oddly enough? No.

Unless you count The Twin. (Yes. He's now become a 'The', because I can't effing figure out what I'm going to do with him.) Any rate, our composite's >1º conjunctions are rather descriptive. Good or ill.

MOON conjunct VALENTINE
SUN conjunct VENUS
JUPITER conjunct SUN
ISIS conjunct OSIRIS
KARMA conjunct DESTINN
JUNO conjunct ALMA
JUNO conjunct APHRODITE
ALMA conjunct APHRODITE
SATURN conjunct PLUTO
ATLANTIS conjunct PLUTO
LUST conjunct PLUTO

Mostly in Scorpio, sometimes in Libra, one in Virgo.

Synastrically, we have one particularly active stellium.

SHERLOCK-MOON conjunct IRENEADLER-KARMA-SATURN.

Yeah. I know.

And the cool thing where our chartrulers are exactly conjunct VALENTINE, DW.

His URA on my VALENTINE, my MERC on his VALENTINE. We also have DW VALENTINE-MERC. If we allow ourselves to just relax and BE, then yes, this aspect led to us bonding rather intensely.

Ay, chihuahua.

I'll be back re: the Guardian. We've got some super-tight aspects in synastry. But ... as to their being ... descriptive? That I'm not sure about.

I don't know; there are too many 0 degree aspects, especially when prominent asteroids are considered, that I would be overwhelmed trying to interpret (or even list) them all.

The closest involving the planets seems to be his Sun trine my Mercury at 0.04. Certainly we usually communicate well, enjoy intellectual pursuits, and generally understand each other.

The closest involving asteroids seems to be his Valentine sextile my Amor (0.02). We do kind of like each other more or less unconditionally.

Then there is (his planet/asteroid listed first; asteroid list is not comprehensive):

Sun sesqui Sun (0.58)

Moon sesqui Vesta (0.26)

Mercury quincunx my ASC (0.46)
Q my Jupiter (0.21)
bQ Chiron (0.08)

Venus quincunx Mercury (0.42)
opposite Neptune (0.45)
trine Chiron (0.35)
sextile Psyche (0.56)

Mars opposite Juno (0.28)
semisextile Vesta (0.35)

Jupiter sextile Saturn (0.34)
opposite Pallas (0.29)
square Valentine (0.57)

Saturn sextile Sun (0.59)
semisquare Mercury (0.05)

Uranus square Venus (0.29)
trine Eros (0.13)

Pluto trine ASC (0.18)
sextile Psyche (0.33)

Chiron semisquare Venus (0.06)
bQ N.N. (0.09)
trine Moira (0.18)
sextile Amor (0.26)

Ceres trine ASC (0.17)
trine Alma (0.33)

Pallas Q Vesta (0.25)

Juno square Sun (0.46)
Q Eros (0.48)
trine Karma (0.51)

Vesta trine Saturn (0.47)
opposite Pallas (0.42)

Alma square Juno (0.25)
trine Vesta (0.33)

Psyche semisextile Sun (0.05)
semisquare Neptune (0.38)

Eros square Saturn (0.11)
sextile Valentine (0.33)
Q Alma (0.06)

Karma conjunct Sun (0.28)

And my personal favorite, his Valentine conjunct my Moira in the 7th House (0.10).

There is also this little gem (?) that has always rather perplexed me:

His Nessus conjunct my Cupido (0.30)
His Amor conjunct my Nessus (0.05)

I also find it interesting to split the synastry/ composite up in the different aspect families, checking which harmonic prevails or stands out.

For this I am using a one degree orb (astro.com, which means actually 2 degree orb max. lol), because that is what I would use for minor aspects, and to make the numbers of aspects coming up comparable, the orb needs to be the same (of course we have to also take into consideration, that there is only possible conjunction or opposition-position, but that the 5th harmonic, have 4 possible poisitons where a planet could fall to make a quintile or biquintile, but keeping the orb the same, it is easy to check the relative frequency the aspect families appear.)

As for the "sticking-out-aspects", it is in my observation the 2 degree aspects that really do (well everything from 00-2°00), but that is of course just a general view. Of course the individual synastry has to be taken into account. I told you what I find important in the other thread.

This is such a great idea, Ceri, the harmonics analysis and I agree the 0 orb would be too restrictive for such an analysis.

Cappy, I suppose a clearer picture is to look only at 0 aspects between planets, angles, nodes, and I also included Vertex, POF and Juno.

In his case, we have:

my Sun bQ his Juno
my Moon opp his Juno Q his Uranus
his Moon trine my Saturn conj my MC semisq my Mars

my Mercury Q his NN

my Venus semisextile his Pluto
his Venus sextile my Neptune

my Mars quincunx his Jupiter
his Mars opp my Neptune

my Jupiter sesquis his Uranus
his Jupiter sesquis my Saturn BQ my Pluto

my Saturn Q his ASC

my Uranus semisextile his Vertex

his Neptune sq my Juno

Pluto conj Pluto

his Juno sextile my NN
his Juno sextile my POF
his NN trine my Chiron

his Chiron sq my ASC

Vertex quincunx Vertex

As far as these aspects work, I don't think they work like this: in order to understand them, we need to look at the entire structure.

For example, in my case

Vertex semisextile Uranus
Vertex sextile Uranus (1)
Vertex quincunx Vertex

Maybe the 0 aspect would be the first to get activated?? But the whole structure eventually activates.

or

in the Venus/Mars cross

his Mars opp my Neptune (0)
his Mars sq my Venus (1)
his Mars sq my Jupiter (4)

maybe Mars/Neptune is the first thing we felt? although usually it would be Mars/Venus...but even if Mars/Neptune is first felt, the whole cross is activated, the structure. I'm not sure we're supposed to feel Mars Neptune more or Mars Jupiter less. And it will always depend a lot on rulership. Since Jupiter is his DSC ruler, for instance, chances are he will process the interaction on a relational level despite the wider orb.

I agree with this.

Also you mentioned quite reasonable orbs in your example anyway, a single 4 degree orbs of course can be pulled into quite strong activation, if linked to other tighter aspects and part of a structure.

However I really doubt that to be the case with orbs of 8 or more degrees. They might subtly be felt (or just imagination, I am not sure on this yet. lol), but the activation gets watered down.

Imagine it like a domino effect. Close orbs usually are activated simultaneously and spreading further through the electric circuit. But if the holes, and empty spaces between them gets too wide th spark will not carry on or ignite further, like the energy gets stuck somewhere.

I also liked this author`s take on orbs and aspects and priority lists (of course everyone can do their own priority list, but I agree with much of what is on there).

"Qualities That Increase a Planet’s Influence:

The Chart Ruler (Ruler of the Ascendant).

Any angle ruler.

Planets on angles in the natal.

The Ruler of Either Lunar Node.

The Dispositor of the Sun.

The planet that forms the most aspects to other planets. (You can narrow this by using the one that forms the most ptolemaic aspects.)

Planet ruling the Asc or Desc in the progressed chart.

Planet conjunct an angle in the progressed chart.

Planets conjunct the lights, natally. Any planet the progressed Sun conjuncts. (A three year influence.)

Any planet planet the progressed Moon conjuncts (A three month influence.)

Any planet that disposits a large or important stellium."

BTW the whole article is readworthy

my last client and I:

- his venus in libra conjuncts my pluto and my IC
- his sun in virgo conjuncts my lilith
- his sun in virgo trines my moon in aries
- his venus in libra sextiles my neptune in sag

All those aspects were 0-1 deg. One the one hand there was some kind of harmony between the 2 of us but it was too much energy, too much bad energy to get along

So yes, the tighter the aspect the more it's felt

That priority lists of course leaves me with a lot of Jupiter and a bit of Mercury (as the two top planets there. lol though there are some others mentioned as well).

As for Jupiter:
chartruler
ruler of North Node
Dispositor of Sun
I did not count but he has a lot of aspects
dispositor of my Sagittarius-stellium

And yes, this fits, while I have seen in other synastries it is just simply nice to have Jupiter activated, for me it is NECESSARY.

But interesting exercise nonetheless. Here goes:

Synastric Planets & Angles

(except for the single Sun-Moon sesquisq., I leave out minor aspects)

My Cancer Sun sesquisq. his Aqua Moon (0°53)
- occasionally he can be like Spock when poor lil Cancer wants to cuddle and cry like a baby. But his logic is so compelling that poor lil Cancer cannot help but see his point...

His Scorp Venus tr. my Cancer Sun (0°30)
- he seems to really like who I am, on every level – personality, character, looks, everything. I can relate to his way of expressing love and friendships easily, he doesn’t need to explain himself.

His Leo Mars tr. my Aries Moon (0°38)
- I love the way he expresses his masculinity, on every level there is. He doesn’t seem to mind my more childlike forms of behavior, they seem to make him feel like “da man”.

His Virgo Saturn tr. my Taurus Mars (0°18)
- When he’s down, it’s easy for me to lend him some energy and lift him up. When I’m angry or overly excited, it’s easy for him to calm me down and give me something to hold onto. Both these planets are Earth singletons in our charts.

His Saturn sq. my Nodal Axis (0°10)
- The way we met and the way our lives have unfolded before seem synchronistic to an astonishing degree, fate was undoubtedly at play.

His Leo AC sq. my Scorp AC (0°41)
- with both falling on the 15th degree of a fixed sign, this heats things up between us. In terms of projecting personality we both seem to have found our match. Fighting is not advised because there will be no winners, and no captives taken alive either.

DW Pars Fortunae conj. AC/DC axis (my PF conj. his AC 0°02, his PF conj. my DC 0°18)
- self-explanatory. His presence is what represents being lucky to me.

Some Synastric Asteroid Connections

My RUDRA opp. his KAALI (0°26)
My SIVA tr. his KAALI (0°26)
His RUDRA tr. my TARA (0°40)
DW SITA – RAMAN (opp. 0°28 / sq. 0°14)
- all of these point to our mutual fascination with Hindu philosophy, Yoga, Meditation, etc.

His DIANA tr. my ENDYMION (0°05)
His ORPHEUS sq. my EURYDIKE (0°13) and True Node (0°12)
My ANUBIS conj. his South Node (0°20)
My ANGEL tr. his Saturn (0°13)
- I believe these have past-life connotations.

Composite

Sun opp. Moon (0°31)
DC conj. ALMA (0°41) and Vertex (0°10)
Pars Fortunae conj. MC (0°18)
ARTEMIS conj. ENDYMION (0°05)
PSYCHE conj. Saturn (0°31)
My First Name asteroid sext. his FN asteroid (0°19)

I can't help by noticing you have one of the most compelling and surprisingly common aspect in long-term marriages:

Saturn squaring the nodal axis

and the classical composite DSC conj Vertex

and I like your description very much

I seem to have loved you in numberless forms...

Thanks, LeeLoo!

Is Saturn sq. Nodal Axis indeed often found in marriage partners? I did not know. And you know what, I just noticed one more thing: Reversed, HIS Nodal Axis (with Pluto conj. NN) is exactly square to my Sun/Saturn Midpoint (orb 0°25), which is the midpoint between the two apices of my T-Squares (both landing in the 8th house). So this is a major point in my chart, and his Nodal axis squares it...
