I did a quick search on this topic already but couldn’t find any answers to this specific question. I am hoping someone here can explain this to me because I don’t get it: I checked a synastry chart of myself and the guy I’m currently seeing, and it claims our moons are square at an orb of 7.16. However, my moon is in Taurus and his in Virgo. How is this possible? I thought these two signs were trine. Is the reading incorrect or am I missing something here? I didn’t think the moon sign dynamic would be different…IP: Logged |

They are square by aspect and not sign. Yours is a wide orb though but might still be felt.IP: Logged |

It might be an out of sign aspect. Is the Taurus Moon at late degrees and the Virgo Moon at early degrees ? In this case, the exact square (0° orb) would be early Virgo square early Gemini, but as the orb is fairly wide, they extended it to the actual Moon in late degrees of Taurus. In this case, it not would be as 'bad' as a real Moon square (though aspects considered traditionally 'bad' can be overcome). The sign energies would have more influence in my opinion. IP: Logged |

A 7° orb is pretty wide. 0° orb for a square is 90°, so the furthest out it's going to get with that orb is 83° or 97° depending. So let's play, with those numbers in mind. 2° VIR, and is 2° GEM are exactly 90°, or 0° orb square. If a point is 2° Virgo, then, it can be square a point that's 26° Taurus, even though it's wide. According to these wide orbs, it's my guess that the cutoff is 8°. 25° is then also square, but from 24° to about 8° Taurus is no man's land -- and that's being generous with the orb for a trine. If your MOON's 16° TAU, however, then there's no way it's going to be square a MOON in Virgo. Part of the reason why we like mid-degrees. They're easier to eyeball. So my conclusion is, one MOON is early Virgo and the other late Taurus. The reason is the MOON is almost into the next sign -- either Gemini to square Virgo. Conversely, late Virgo can trine early Gemini at a wide orb -- because it's almost late Taurus. It's just maths, really. This is why we like tight orbs. IP: Logged |
