What are some aspects in synastry that could point to intellectual compatibility between two people? I have this friend who is extremely smart, well I think she's extremely smart and I'm wondering if we are compatible intellectually. In her natal chart her mercury is nicely aspected, but in our synastry together, her mercury is only aspected twice. My moon and jupiter sextile her mercury.

Our mercury's are inconjunct, by the way. I have an Aries mercury, and she has a Scorpio mercury.

Check the composite. I have this with my guy, wondering why we have such a hugely intellectual connection when our Mercs are squaring all over the place. I checked the composite and we have a 5-planet stellium in the 3rd house. I wouldn't be surprised if you find a similar configuration with your friend.

As Aquacheeka said, a lot of c3H energy will definitely be itching for expression, as the area selected will be all matters intellectual, mental, involving writing, thinking, debating corresponding, and travelling short distances -- possibly even sibling relationships.

Nothing beats MERCURY synastry, however. Even MERCs are square, that's not the whole picture. DWs and some powerful asteroid conjunctions can be illuminating.

Check PALLAS (2), ATHENE (881) and MINERVA (93). You may be surprised, as this is where we get into strategy, logic, and genius level stuff.

Also, do you know if either of you have a dwad in the other's MERCURY sign?
