Hey Linda loves, taking any experience, insights, or advice on this!!!

Of course astrology is just a template and the decisions / fate you make are your own... but I'm really hoping for a ***success story*** somewhere in the Mercury square Mars realm.

Has everybody's experience ended in fighting and tears? Constant arguments? Was there something that worked? Or did you just get to the point where you hated this person... and eventually gave up

I have this currently with my Libra 29 Mercury square his Cancer 29 Mars... further complicated by his tight Mars Saturn square (which my Merc triggers by conjunction). Tough synastry. But it is totally my karma since I broke up with my last guy for his Mercury squaring my Mars... in the end I couldn't stand him!!! Here though a year has passed, which is pretty impressive for my track record but arguments are becoming more and more frequent...

Is life too short for Mercury square Mars synastry?

I don't think it's the worst… it triggers some kind of competition, but that is not the worst… maybe it could also trigger arguments, but in general you could feel turned on by each other intellectually? Do you think your arguments is also somehow exciting?

But you could be right about the mercury-saturn conjunction… but it could also help you bring some structure and cool down again… but the risk with merc-saturn is that you could keep a cold approach, and lack feelings in discussions… maybe it's not the greatest… do you have some good emotional supporting aspects? involving sun-neptune-venus-moon-jupiter?
Jupiter aspects would be nice between you

Ive had this aspect in synastry as a DW and also square saturn. What next to neptune said rang true for me and him, it was mostly like an intellectual competition, but with him being a gemini I found that he actually enjoys this and finds it exciting.

I think maybe finding a way to channel that energy into something competitive would help to dissuade it from turning into personal arguements, maybe playing games together? for me and this other person, we are both involved in scientific communities and we challenge each other's ideas. I can imagine if we didn't have this that we might find other ways to compete and argue that would end up being more personal

Thanks you two so much for these responses, competition and intellectual stimulation are exactly the kind of optimistic possibilities I needed!

Though I'm beginning to realize that for my Libra Moon and Mars-square-Saturn man, a harsh Mercury-Mars aspect must be terror. We have made it one year... but barely.

Next to neptune, I think you are exactly right about the Saturn thing. My Mercury conjuncts his Saturn, and during periods of difficulty he can be very cold. Interestingly my Merc & his Saturn are both of our 7th House rulers, though I'm still not sure if that does anything besides pique a bit of attraction. We do have my Sun-Pluto tightly sextile his Venus... Great for a love affair, but, you know, noootttt a light aspect My Mercury is quintile his Sun which must help somehow and sextile his Neptune (3*... maybe a bit wide). We do have a wide (5 deg) Jupiter Venus conjunction, but I think so far it just manifests in us eating too much when we dine out at restaurants. Lol! I agree with you though, some positive Neptune aspects would definitely ease the flow of things.

In composite there is Mercury semisextile Mars. Never understood the semisextile, but after a year of this, I think it means the fantastic electricity of a sextile punctuated by a few uneasy, grating periods.

Arcturiann, playing games together is a great idea!! I do observe things can quickly get competitive between us. Intellectually challenging your Gemini must be great fun for you guys! From my understanding though I would definitely try to keep it on an intellectual plane... This Mars square Mercury experience has shown me it can get personal very fast!

I had this with someone, I'm saggy Merc/Sun and he was pisces Mars and we did have fun mental spars...but sexually we had huge differences in our sexual needs and how we communicated them.

I'm turned on by communication, I need a flirty fun playful guy in order to really get turned on n want to go further and his sexually style was silence(mars in 12th also) sexually he wasnt a flirt, he barely spoke of it at all, he acted on it but he was just a very non communicative type. Exact opposite of what I needed!

To be honest I don't like any hard aspects involving Mars, but I think Mercury synastry is much more important than many think. The info I get Venus and Mars is what most people concentrate on, but if you can't even talk to a person -- Mercury, what is the point of a relationship. I personally think Moon, Mercury, Venus, Saturn should be looked at first; followed by the others.

I'm a Mercury person myself, so I think this can be an aspect that can get worse over time...

That's exactly what I fear... in the beginning, we never fought. Now, after one year, it seems we fight all the time... and cannot seem to stop

How do you guys think it works with the conjunction?
I got the conjunction with my s.o, and also the trine so it is mercury/mars double whammy…we love playing games lol, but he gets really frustrated when I win, and I almost always win, so it's like he doesn't want to play so much anymore because he hates to lose:P

I have it ! Fix sign square eachother double whammy.
My current relationship is right now 7 years .
He has mars & mercury in Aqua and for me , mars and mercury in Scorpio. It took a lot of effort to make this work and it depend largely on each persons . We have the good aspect to help this.
- His jupiter conjunct my DC , it could help with marriage in some way
- venus and jupiter Both fall in one anotger 7th House , DW
- sun trine venus

That's all.
But if I could choose again , I would prefer to be with someone that I don't need to put a lit of effort in this.

Although it's hard but we make it through because we have compassion to eachother.

Lovely Kitty, I'm so glad to read this. I was just about to give up hope.

I'm sure your Venus Jupiter aspects help tremendously. Are they DW conjunct in the 7th house for you both? If so, that is something special. I would love to find that kind of mercy and expansive love - ours is his Venus sextile my Sun-Pluto so everything has a slightly Plutonian twinge that I suppose I must always accept as it is deeper latent part of my nature.

His Venus is afflicted however - retrograde in Virgo, and square Uranus by 3 degrees. I don't suppose his love life will ever be free from fluctuation or conflict, so I can't put all the burden on our Mars square Mercury.

I completely agree however that if I had known how difficult this would be to manage, I would have tried to stay away in the beginning. It takes a huge amount of effort. 7 years is so impressive for the two of you - Aquarius and Scorpio are notoriously stubborn placements for Mercury and Mars!!

Can I ask how in particular you managed this? Are there any specific tactics or things to keep in mind that help during moments of rising tension? The difficulty with anything involving Mercury & Mars is that all actions happen very quickly! I am learning and relearning to think before I speak

Just an update: this is a synastry aspect that seems to get worse and intensify over time.

I would highly recommend, barring exceptionally forgiving and understanding circumstances or synastry, please try to AVOID this aspect if you encounter it somewhere!

I have had this for over a year with someone I love, and with Saturn involved, loving communication takes an enormous amount of effort. It shouldn't have to be this hard...
