Hi new LL friends! I'm currently studying decinations in synastry and was hoping for some feedback. I've come to the understanding of using a 1 degree orb or less between charts. Anyone have experience with this technique and if so, what have you found to be most useful? IP: Logged |

I've studied them somewhat. I think they're useful in natal work in revealing reoccurring aspects and bringing new themes to light. That's as far as I would go with them because I'm not inclined to say they're as powerful as conjunctions and opposition. I wouldn't use it for synastry unless the orb was under 0.30*. I'd also exclude outer planets in synastry. IP: Logged |

Absolutely 0º-1º00 at absolute max. I concur that, if you can get it as close to 0º, it's best. 0º00-0º15 is a definite sweet spot. I'll link you to this discussion where I explained this in depth. (I know it seems off-topic, but just trust me on this.) I also highly recommend having some fun with this tool. It's grand! Hope that helps. I love working with declination. It's immensely insightful. Welcome to IA @ LL, llewsacm! IP: Logged |

Thanks aubyanne! I checked out the calc tool. Would that only be useful for calculating equivalent degrees for anything that falls outside of the declination window? For example, if i have a declination listed on Astro at 29 degrees? So informative...ty again! IP: Logged |

Alas, it's not so good with anything that's way OOB. I've had to manually calculate those, and it is TEDIOUS. IP: Logged |
