My sun parallel his Venus exact in synastry and my moon contraparellel his Mars in synastry exact .

How would these two aspects be read?

Sun parallel Venus would be same as the conjunction. Moon mars would represent opposition, some say conjunction, but still hard aspect. Hot for sure! With the love ties from the sun/venus conjunction. Very nice!

Not at all. The parallel is a unique aspect, rooted in declination. It's not a conjunction; it merely shares features of the longitudinal conjunction.

The real differences are in karmic interpretation, as the conjunction is outstanding karma that has been delayed until the present for clearing. With the parallel, it's been attempted with some of it cleared, and now it's more of a testing to ensure the lessons represented have been learnt.

The contraparallel is fascinating as well, and not to be thought of as 'like an opposition'. That simply doesn't do it justice.

Also, an exact parallel / contraparallel as in 0°00?

All declination aspects are only within 1°00; preferably, 0°30.

We have a DW parallel of Sun-Venus in our synastry, though it is not exact.

0°43/ 0°42
(resulting in a 0°00 orb in the composite Sun-Venus-parallel)

Anyway while I do feel this might not be insignificant, it does not quite"feel" like a longitudinal conjunction, though I find it difficult to really grasp the difference, so I am not much of a help apparently.

the longitudinal aspects coming with that are a very very very wide conjunction of 9°09 (but out of sign as well), and an exact semisextile of his Venus to my Sun (0°00). I noticed that the semisextile quite often comes with a parallel aspect, but maybe that is just so when the planets are close to the Capricorn/Sagittarius - Cancer/Gemini solstice axis? Not sure.

While I usually do not pay all that much attention to semisextiles (and not really doing so in this case either), I did make a mental note seeing that it is so very precise PLUS coincidentally when we first met he was having pr Sun conjunct his n Venus precise as well: again 0°00 orb, and this was only THAT exact for 5 days and we met on the 3rd day of that timeperiod, absolutely in the middle.
I couldn`t help but notice THAT. lol
Though I have no clue what it means, if it means anything.

Thanks for the clarification aubyanne. I have interpreted synastry with couples who do not have a connection with sun/venus, but describe their interactions with each other similar to the conjunction. Two recent instances I have found sun/venus parallel in declinations (very tight) which led me to that ah ha moment. Lol! Similar instances occurred with contra parallels. Perhaps I should be more careful when deciphering these types of connections in synastry and offer a disclaimer with the interpretation! Thanks as always for your valued insight!

however, even if we differentiate between longitudes and declinations, the Sun-Venus-parallel IS a Sun-Venus-connection, so maybe at a certian point we are simply start splitting hairs.

In the case I mentioned, there is a definite liking and appreciation of each other, however it is more or less despite (or because ) of our temperemental differences.

In a conjunction the sign background would be the same, giving a common ground. (unless out of sign).

That is not the case, necessarily with the parallel), it is not the case with our parallels at least.

his Sun in Sag, my Venus in Cap
my Sun in Sag, his Venus in Cap.

So the Venus-Sun-combination connects different signbackgrounds with each other, so the interpretation of "similiarity" in terms of Sun-Venus, as would be with the conjunction in same sign, isn`t present in this instance.

How do we calculate/identify parallels?

Go to astro.com and look at what's South and North oriented. Those are the declinations.

i have sun parallel mars, and sun conjunct my girlfriends mars. i certainly do feel the descirptions of sun and mars and i feel its more harmonious since the parallel is present not so much of the full conjunction i feel myself to be honest.

sun 21 degrees cap
her mars 27 degrees cap

sun and mars parallel within 0"20 degrees.

Sun Capricorn, Moon Aries, Libra Rising

I call the conjunctions which are also parallel 'superconjunctions'. It does seem to get the point across.
