I have a question about composite charts. My cousin is now engaged to her bf of three years. I checked their composite chart and there are great connections, but none between the sun and venus. Is this ok?

They have sun conjunct moon, mercury, and jupiter, but no aspects between sun and venus. The only aspects between venus are venus conjunct pluto, and venus sextile neptune. Their venus is in the 7th house.

Yes it is okay in my opinion. I do think that synastry is key though I wouldn't rely so much on composites just on my personal experience and the research I've done so far.
