Hi to all, this is my first post. I was wondering about oppositions in synastry, is it good or bad aspect? When I read on some astrology site, it has bad meaning most of the time and here I saw positive things. Someone can explain? Does it depends what aspect is it? For example, opposite Venus, Sun, Mercury or Jupiter?IP: Logged |

I don't think aspects can be automatically good or bad. An opposition might typically create more tension than a conjunction, but it depends on the natal charts involved. Let's say you're comparing synastry with someone who has a natal Moon-Mars opposition, and your moon opposes their Mars. In this case, the first person may already know how to deal with the tension of that aspect, because they have it natally. So the tension that would normally take place is softened, and you have a dynamic aspect between Moon and Mars. (Your Moon conjunction would help too, of course. But you get my point.) If they didn't have a natal Moon-Mars opposition, then the energy might be new to them, and the tension would probably be emphasized more. But there are so many other factors that could take place besides the other person having a natal opposition. You really have to search for exactly what the planets involved mean to that person, based on their natal. Try to gauge the energy that they're accustomed to, and you can infer how your synastry will feel to them. The important thing is that you have an aspect between the planets to begin with. And I do think that typically, planets like Venus, Jupiter and the Moon in opposition will not feel as tense as other planets. IP: Logged |

Thanks for your answer, I understand it now better! I guess it's the same for square aspects.IP: Logged | |
