Your guess is as good as mine, buddy. Outside of the fact that I have been 'privy' to a number of potential 'past life recalls' (which I consider alternate lifelines or eigenstates, but, potatoh, potahto) -- I really don't know. I've not seen that it's that common.

Very new relationship. She is Karma/Psyche/Ceres conjunct my SN/Ceres. Orb 1°14' for Karma-SN, everything else is closer. I can say she immediately felt like I "got" her, and on the first day through a marathon phone call, I had most of her life story. Oh, Aqua Merc trine my Gem Merc too.

I checked some of my synastry charts. I found out that I have my SN conjunct a very prominent celebrity that I use for synastry study (cuz using bfs can remove a surprise quality from the relationship, using exes doesn't work cuz it causes unhealthy connection, and using family is awkward when you are trying to study something with commonly heavy sexual interpretations). This celebrity's KarmaRx is 20seconds from my SN.

I thought I would note that as a child I remember seeing his face on a magazine cover and feeling like he looked like family. I had always had it in my mind that he reminded me of my grandfather for some reason. (Though they don't really look similar, so I had always wondered why I felt that.) I probably chose him for synastry study for this reason of familiarity. (We also have almost identical house cusps so I consider him an astrological role model).

It would be cute if I knew his energy from a past life, but sadly I get the feeling that if there is karma to be paid, I would be the receiver of negative karma from him. (My Mars is also conjunct his SN. Also not good that my Moon/Chiron is conjunct his Chiron---ouch) But, anything can be expressed either positively or negatively, so hopefully he never sends any bad past life karma my way.
