I am starting to believe in looking at synastry that a person's individual natal chart coming into a relationship is just as important to review as the synastrical interaction between two people.Keeping this in mind, is it possible to have a type of soulmate where there are a lot mirrored aspects or resonance between the natals? i.e. Synastry reveals no major Saturn aspects (to personal planets) between two people, yet there is a sense of commitment that stems from person A's Venus trine Saturn/Juno conjunct Saturn, and person B's Saturn in the 7th - thus both people are very commitment-oriented? Does that make sense? Or, that person A has Venus trine Pluto and person B Venus square Pluto, even if they make no aspect in synastry? What if there were multiple instances of this happening between two natals? IP: Logged |

I think mirroring is important, but I also think that when you have a lot of mirroring, the composite, draconics, and other charts will re-emphasize the mirror.IP: Logged |

No way, we could be very much alike but never get interested in each other without inter-aspects. But that is if the synastry is really that poor (missing aspects, very few connections). Otherwise this mirroring you speak of will help, yeah. It will add to what you already have in synastry. It's like minor aspects. Count quintiles, semi-sextiles etc if the synastry already looks promising. If not, then they will never be enough. In reality the similar charts if they are Really that similar, also have synastric links. Just my opinion here. I'm only a learner. IP: Logged |

Both is needed, mirroring and the aspects (without aspects, nothing really happens; with strong mirroring without aspects two people might be very much alike or complementing each other and also like each other, but noone would feel compelled to make the first step to create an actual relationship; however aspects without mirroring, usually lead to more shortterm relationships, they will not reach that deep in a personality-sense). BTW I have never seen any relationship getting off the ground, without the natal resonance, it is the basis from where synastry starts. And Faith is right, if you have the same aspects natally they will show in the composite, which is why the composite is such a handy tool to identify themes you share. IP: Logged |

This is close to the theory of Core Dynamics. Yes. We should take the basic natal into consideration; it's basic composition, in a way. It never changes. Potential can be developed or left latent, but the potential never changes.Synastry, on the other hand, is the potential activation of patterns and configurations that create new energies as a result of the combination. I've seen several occasions where synastric aspects 'don't fire' as a result of issues of one of the natals. This is also why we can experience the same aspect with several people, but should never expect the same experience. Those who are in 'close proximity' to us on a soul level will definitely show resonance. Of course. As to type? I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. For example, two Plutonians are going to automatically find a lot of Plutonian energy between them, regardless of how many aspects to PLUTO are actually there. I've definitely found this to be a kind of pattern that emerges across most of my more significant relationships, despite their nature. I suppose that's why 'type of soulmate' has me a bit confused. As Ceri said, synastric links are crucial as they are the trigger -- the activation sequence. Both are what's needed to create a sense of longevity and depth, yes. IP: Logged |

I'm gonna concur with the point everyone has made so far. While having natal themes in common with one another will help to feel that someone is a kindred spirit or that we're cut from the same cloth, the links between the charts have to be there in some way for us to feel a desire to interact on more than just a surface level.Usually, it might appear that the synastry links aren't there, but if you dig deeper, there are often major links in other areas. The links might be in the declination parallels or in the antiscia connections. Sometimes they are in the draconic charts, persona charts, or the progressions, but they are always hiding somewhere.
