Exciting new way to look at how each Venus sign gives and receives: Based on Vedic astrologyI’ve recently discovered a fascinating new way of looking at how each Venus sign will tend to give and receive love. Each Venus placement will have it’s own characteristics based on the sign that it’s in… But on top of sign characteristics, each Venus sign will also give and receive love based on it’s position relative to the signs Taurus and Libra.
Here’s what I mean...
Venus rules the signs Taurus and Libra. Taurus is the receptive feminine sign ruled by Venus, and Libra is the active expressive sign ruled by Venus. There is a technique in Vedic astrology by which we count the signs between Venus’ sign in the natal chart and the signs Taurus and Libra, to see how each Venus sign tends to receive and express love and affection. The astrologer I got this technique from uses the tropical zodiac with Vedic techniques and so I think this method is very applicable the standard western natal chart.
Libra is the expressive sign Venus ruled sign, so we count the signs FROM Libra to Venus in the natal chart to determine the style we have of outwardly expressing and relating towards others, and why we choose who we choose.
Taurus is the receptive Venus ruled sign, and so we count TO Taurus from Venus in our natal chart to determine the style we have of receiving love and affection, and what we receive.
To give an example, my Venus is in Sagittarius.
I can count three signs from Libra to Sagittarius (when counting from a sign we include the first sign we count as number one). This means that people with Venus in Sag tend to express love in a 3rd house kind of way, and to be super intellectually curious about the object of their affections. They tend to pick people that can share exciting and fun communication with, and love good conversation.
I can count 6 signs from Sagittarius to Taurus. This means that Venus in Sag folk tend to receive love and affection in a 6th house kind of way. They may attract a partner who likes to help them out with practical things, like health issues or their day to day routine. Their partner may often give them constructive criticism about their progress, and be rather sharp and discerning in general. In Vedic astrology the 6th house can symbolize some not so nice things, like enemies, debt, and divorce. I think these can manifest with this placement but only in extreme circumstances. I’d put more of a focus on general 6th house stuff like a partner who helps you improve your health.
Each Venus sign will have it's own traits according to that sign. And in addition to this, the distance between Venus and the signs Taurus and Libra will show details as to how Venus will receive and express in love relationships.
Here’s the breakdown for the rest of the signs. It might be interesting to compare yourself with your partner/love interest. Let me know if this fits.
ARIES VENUS - Expresses affection in a 7th house way, and receives love in a 2nd house way. Venus in Aries is full of energy and they enthusiastically enjoy the given and take of relationships. While they are direct, they are good at initiating relationships and like to be in one. They like to feel balanced by their connection with a partner... They like a yin/yang sort of contrast. They receive love from those that are stable and have a comfortable position in life. Their partner likes to share the comforts of life with them, and may be sensual, good looking, and affectionate.
TAURUS VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 8th house way, and receives love 1st house way. Venus in Taurus is private and intense about who they want. They are attracted to those that add mystery and depth to their lives, and they can be a tad possessive towards their partner. Usually they indicate their interest to in someone in a discreet and careful way. However, they attract a partner who is direct in their approach with them. This will be someone who takes care with their appearance, or has a beautiful face. Someone with a strong sense of their own individuality and style, and a distinctive personality.
GEMINI VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 9th house way, and receives love 12th house way. Gemini Venus is attracted to those who can expand their potential for learning and wisdom. They look for someone whose education or adventurous side is intellectually stimulating to them, and helps them answer some big questions they have in the back of their minds. Venus is Gemini is open, positive, and cheerful in how they express affection. They attract love from those who are ethereal, secretive, and dreamy. Sometimes a foreigner. They may often be the subject of someone’s secret crush unbeknownst to them, or they keep their own relationship private and hidden away. In it’s worst manifestation this Venus could become embroiled in an illicit secret affair-- but not all Gemini Venus people will have this tendency! They just may just have a behind-the-scenes aspect to their relationship, or attract a compassionate and imaginative partner.
CANCER VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 10th house way, and receives love 11th house way. Venus in Cancer people approach love relationships with a strong sense of devotion and duty, and they look for partners they can respect or look up to. They like a strong partner. Relationships are a serious matter for them, and trust and stability are very important. They attract those that approach them in a friendly open manner, someone tolerant who respects their individuality. Even though Cancer Venus is shy, the ’friends first’ attitude from their partner my induce them to eventually make a first move of some kind or another. The partner will tend to open up the Venus in Cancer person's social world, and connect them with a lot of new and interesting people.
LEO VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 11th house way, and receives love 10th house way. The 11th house is the house of group participation and ‘love received‘. Accordingly Leo Venus loves to enjoy the attention of admires, and has a knack for tracking down potential partners in via social networking. In a funny way, they are attracted to those who are attracted to them because they long to be adored. They are friendly and open with partners, interested in their partner’s unique quirks, and like when a love interest has something unusual and fascinating to bring to the table. And of course they look for those that make they themselves feel ‘special‘. They tend to receive love form those that are respectable in their status, trustworthy, and associated with authority. Someone who can add a practical structure to the Leo Venus person's fanciful ideas about love. The partner may enhance the Leo Venus person‘s career, or in turn make a ‘career’ out of their relationship with the Leo Venus person.
VIRGO VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 12th house way, and receives love 9th house way. When Venus in Virgo falls in love they are challenged to let go of their natural rigidity, and tendency towards criticism, and just surrender to giving wholeheartedly. They may have secret crushes or fall in love with an ‘ideal mate’ they’ve created in their minds. There's a feeling that they may need to sacrifice something in order to have the love they want... Like protective wall they've built around themselves, or the perfect order in their lives. Love can be messy. They attract adventurous philosophical types who can enrich their lives with higher learning, and knowledge on things beyond the mundane. The partner will to expand their horizons, and add optimism and hope to their lives.
LIBRA VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 1st house way, and receives love 8th house way. Libra Venus will use their charming agreeable personality to initiate love relationships, and tend to know how to effectively use positive body language to enhance their interpersonal connections. The are pleasant and look for those they can cultivate a harmonious connection with. Yet they often attract intense, possessive, perceptive partners that add depth and a strong emotional side to their love lives. Someone who helps them look below the surface with what's going on around them.
SCORPIO VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 2nd house way, and receives love 7th house way. Venus in Scorpio will express their love in tactile ways, and looks for someone they care share to comforts of life with. They also look for someone who will add some type of practical or material value to their situation in life. They may calculate how their partner can be an asset to them through their beauty and resources. They attract diplomatic folks who balance their own intensity, and probing nature, with lightness and sweetness. Someone who helps make the connection 'nice'.
SAGITTARIUS VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 3rd house way, and receives love 6th house way (Please see interpretation above).
CAPRICORN VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 4th house way, and receives love 5th house way. Venus in Capricorn are slow to show their feelings but once they commit they are deeply invested emotionally. They like a partner who makes them feel reassured and secure. They make caring supportive partners. What they attract is usually someone who is demonstrative and passionate. Someone who may reveal their affections for the Cap Venus person in a grand romantic way. They attract creative folks, those with a high status, or those with a glamorous aura about them.
AQUARIUS VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 5th house way, and receives love 4th house way. Venus in Aquarius can be surprisingly romantic when they really fall in love. They tend become quite idealistic and excited when it comes to a romantic partner, even though they are usually objective and friendly, and they may perform some sort of grand gesture of love which they like to surprise their partner with. Although, coming from Venus in Aquarius these gestures are occasionally on the quirky side. They may attract someone who at first seems hesitant or shy, but later the partner turns out to be very caring and supportive. They attract sensitive, careful types.
PISCES VENUS - Expresses in affection in a 6th house way, and receives love 3rd house way. Venus in Pisces is very helpful in constructive ways towards loved ones, they tend to want to solve problems for them because they hate to see them suffering. They receive love from those who are communicative, playful, and intellectual. Someone who is curious about what lies behind the Venus in Pisces person’s natural mystique, and gets them talking.

However, I got idea for this from a website on Vedic astrology using the tropical zodiac.
Interpretations using this method are interesting... Because in Vedic astrology the exaltations and detriments of planets in a particular sign have an affect on the expression of the Venus sign. For instance, Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, and that means that women with Venus in Cancer are likely to have a good husband (Jupiter is said to rule the husband). And all people with Venus in Cancer have good luck in higher learning and travel in association with partnership. However Mars is also in it’s fall in Cancer, and so sometimes they may attract a short-tempered and temperamental partner as well.
You can analyze every Venus sign in this way, by taking into account what planets are exalted or debilitated in that sign. With Venus in Taurus, the Moon is exalted in Taurus, so a Venus in Taurus person will have nice experiences with nurturing and comfort in their relationships. A man with Venus in Taurus may attract a wife or girlfriend that has a nice relationship to her mother.
If you add exaltations or debilitations into the mix there are so many more layers to explore when looking and you and your partner's Venus signs.
