Yes, transits as timers. OUter planets for the major background process, personal planets as timer for a more precise date.

Do you have a program that you use? I'm trying to figure out a way to look ahead (months/years) to see auspicious times for important events, but I've had to enter dates in manually.

I use astro.com too sometimes but again have to enter the dates manually

My friend's progressed Sun is currently at 22 Taurus, opposite my pr.Venus and Asc, as is his pr Mercury (natal chart ruler). His pr.Venus is opposite my progressed Moon (exact) and Saturn (2 degrees).

Progressed aspects are not active unless they are within single digit minutes of arc of exact, particularly within 0°05'. This is something not commonly understood. The tightest aspects from across the full list of possible minor and major aspects are the ones that are the most active at any time in the progressed chart. Therefore, if you have a major prog aspect say a square to a natal point 0°45' from exact, it is not yet active. At any given time, you will almost certainly have minor aspects that are tighter, say a sesquisquare within 0°04' of exact. That is the active one in this comparison.

Many astrologers have not properly trained themselves to fully search the prog chart for a fuller or complete list of such aspects or program their software for it (which includes all 15° aspects), thus attribute life dynamics to 'majors' that are out of orb.

Yes, especially if progressions confirm. However, it should be pointed out that prog/transits create windows of opportunity, not guarantees that something will happen.

What's his pMoon doing to your nSun and/or nAsc? Or your pMoon to his Sun & Asc??
