This is just a list of aspects... that I think can indicate a feeling of being very close-knit emotionally to another person - from what I've been experiencing

Synastry:

- AC/DC axis exactly conjunct MC/IC axis (although I guess this could include any exact angle2angle conjunction)

- Planets closely conjunct the angles! His Moon is on my MC and my Mars is on his IC

- Sun/Moon midpoint exactly conjunct the other's Moon (double whammy for us, but I think this works even when it's not a double whammy).
CafeAstrology says serious relationships often have either a Sun/Moon connection or this mid-point connection - so this is an interesting one!

- Moon/Venus aspects..
My Venus/NN conj exactly sextile his Moon (on my MC).
This is also interesting because ... my Venus is the ruler of my NN (Taurus)... and his Moon is the ruler of his SN (*plus* his MC).

- Venus/Saturn aspects

- Moon/Saturn aspects

- Venus/Chiron aspects (again we have a double whammy... but I guess one aspect can still cause the same effect)

- Squaring Nodes. My NN/SN axis squares his NN/SN axis

- Personal planet square the other's Nodes (My Venus squares his Nodes... but I've read any planet square the Nodes can feel fated)

- Opposing Moon phases! This is a nice one.

- One person's personal planet completing a grand trine aspect for the other... e.g. My Sun (Aries) completing a fire grand trine with his Venus (Sag) and Jupiter (Leo)

- Connections between Nodal Rulers and angles or angle rulers... We have a few of these.. for example:
His Mars (ruler of his DC) exactly quincunx my Pluto (ruler of my SN) --- his Venus (ruler of AC) closely conjunct my Saturn (ruler of my DC) --- His Moon (ruler of his SN) conjunct my MC --- My Moon (ruler of my AC) conjunct his Saturn (ruler of his IC).... etc.

- Mercury2Mercury aspects when close.. because you never stop talking, and good communication is important.

- Moon/Pluto and Mercury/Pluto smooth aspects (trine or sextile) can also be nice for good communication.

e.g. His Pluto (Scorpio) is in exact aspect to my natal Moon/Mercury sextile in Capricorn/Pisces.

- Mars/BML (Lilith) aspects can feel strongly attractive... We have the conjunction, but this is more a physical thing than an emotional thing.

- Juno conjunct Juno

Composite

- Sun/Moon/Mercury/Venus stellium (but any stellium of planets involving Sun and Moon could have a similar impact)

- Venus in the 7th house, conjunct DC

- Pluto square the Sun/Moon/Mercury/Venus stellium (I think the Pluto square is what makes things intense)

- Mars in the 8th house; Pluto in the 4th house (planets in water houses in the composite chart can generally create a feeling of closeness, from what I've been reading)

- Also ^ Pluto (Scorpio 4th) trine Mars (Pisces 8th)

- Mars conjunct composite North Node (having composite aspects to the North Node seems to give the relationship direction

- Pluto square the AC/DC axis

- Significant connections between the composite chart and each individual natal chart - for example.. we have: The Composite MC/IC axis is exactly conjunct my Nodes (NN/SN).
So the relationship has a strong impact on my overall karmic journey.

This is all I've looked into so far ^. I find these aspects really bonding in an interesting, awesome and totally mutual way.

Please let me know if you've experienced any or all of these in your relationships - and how they played out for you!

Question first:

how do you personally differentiate between spiritual and emotional closeness?

Odette, I hope it works out well for you two. You have so much going on I wouldn't know where to start...but I love the composite stellium!

Several of the things you mentioned, I have with my husband: Venus/Saturn, Moon/Pluto, planet/angle, natal/composite conjunctions, Juno/Juno (trine in our case), planet/node conjunctions in composite (NN-Mercury-Neptune in Scorpio, in our case.)

quote:
Significant connections between the composite chart and each individual natal chart - for example.. we have: The Composite MC/IC axis is exactly conjunct my Nodes (NN/SN).
So the relationship has a strong impact on my overall karmic journey.

My NN tightly trine composite ASC.

I suppose he and I are on a spiritual journey, though sometimes it doesn't feel like that.

For me, I guess the "spiritual" element is mostly something so nebulous I can barely put my finger on it. Feels like destiny (NN conjunct NN in Scorpio); feels like there is a lot under the surface that we cannot even access except obliquely or with outright telepathy (NN-Mercury-Neptune in composite.)

This is different than the spirituality of some other relationships I've had, some formal relationships and some not...but since I'm only thinking of men, I guess this is more an exploration of spiritual sexuality, or when opening doors to Other Worlds makes us want to get physically closer.

Which in my case makes sense, because I have a moon-Mars-Neptune t-square. I think you also have moon-Mars-Neptune?

So, that may be a theme...a blending of those three energies, with another person probably having to tap into those three planets, to access all the spirituality/emotion/action there.

As others have pointed out, it would help to clarify what the term "spiritual" means to you.

"Spiritual" and "emotional" are radically different things.

Spiritual and emotional are different...but often combine.

Like chocolate and milk are different...but often combine.

As with moon-Neptune, Pisces moon, 12H moon, Cancer Neptune, and stuff like that.

What's the difference between emotional and spiritual closeness? Isn't it our spirits that feel emotions? Don't they come from the same place?

Hmmm

For me, not all emotions feel "spiritual."

And I don't have a strong emotional component with all experiences that I would call spiritual....though, I'm always one emotion or another, it's like a ticker tape that never stops.

But, the way I would interpret the phrase "spiritual synastry," it's when there is a merger of something spiritual happening that elicits a strong emotional response.

It may only be a function of progressions and/or transits...though I hate to sound technical and unromantic.

I would say moon conjunct the Asc, especially if the moon falls in the 12th house.
