I mean I love to see the Synastry/Composite Chart I have with someone and I will love to have a lot of good aspects but I was thinking that this doesn't make so much sense? Because we are not perfect and I think there is not a perfect relationship.
I read a lot of people getting worry when they see Venus square Saturn in Synastry or Composite Chart. Or something. Mostly with Saturn. And I think what Saturn does is make us grow up and all that. And I have Sun conjunct Saturn, so I know what I'm talking about!

Does someone see this like I do?

Yeah... "Bad" aspects definitely aren't always bad. Squares demand attention, action, and energy. Saturn square Venus can be very binding. Saturn square Moon also. These classically horrible aspects can be found holding people accountable to one another in concrete ways for years, challenging them to go the extra mile and figure out what responsibility really is.

I think Saturn appreciates a square. But they need to handle it maturely or the other person will really feel it as quite harsh... It's always a hugely karmic contact. Can generate good or bad karma. Can be karma or dharma. Very intense!

I really dislike Mercury issues though lol... yeaaargh. But if that's your karma gotta go through it anyway.

I think it's not a matter of worrying but being aware.

It can be helpful to know what is what...to recognize patterns and have a label for them, so we don't kid ourselves and think that something is just going to change on its own. Mindfulness helps us smooth over the rough spots...and we can be more mindful if we know what we're dealing with.

That is the theory anyway.

Astrology can also mess us up....so we should be careful with it.

I agree. There's no such thing as the perfect relationship. And finding a synastry filled with only trines, sextiles, and conjunctions, is almost impossible. There's almost always at least one or two hard aspects in synastry. This is reality.

I think it's about balance.

Hard aspects are exciting and dynamic, but when there are too many they can drain your energy with endless drama. And you can start to feel worn out or fed up.

It's similar for soft aspects. Soft aspects are comforting and smooth, but only soft aspects in synastry can be a bit too easy... As in complacent (not much inspiration for change and growth). Sometimes it's good to experience someone that has a different point of view to us. Variety is the spice of life.

The key is to find the right balance in synastry for hard aspects vs soft aspects. The funny thing is that this balance varies from person to person. Some people can handle lots of hard aspects, and find too many soft aspects dull. While others like mostly soft aspects, and find too many hard aspects exhausting. Most people fall somewhere in the middle of these two extremes in terms of what balance of hard vs soft aspects works for them.

So no one hard aspect is really a deal breaker. Venus in hard aspect to Saturn can be okay if the rest of the synastry fits the right hard/soft balance for that individual.

Also some so-called 'terrible' aspects can actually work out well for the people involved, in the sense that it inspires them to improve themselves, and to grow. In other relationships the very same aspect is like the nail in the coffin for the relationship.

Just like we all have our own hard/soft aspect balance preferences in synastry, there will be certain planets in our chart that can handle hard aspects quite well, while other planets in our chart will seem to 'fall apart' under too much pressure. This probably depends on how that planet is placed in the natal chart. Whether it's supported, or in dignity.

A planet that is exalted or dignified by sign, or that is well supported by a flowing aspect in the natal chart, can perhaps handle a hard aspect or two quite well. A planet that's already getting pummeled in the natal chart by hard aspects, or is in it's detriment/fall by sign, may find itself being even more agitated if they receive even more hard aspects via synastry.

A planet that's not well placed in the traditional sense (only receives hard natal aspects) might do fine if this planet receives both hard and soft aspects in synastry. But if they only receive hard aspects, it's going to be a struggle. Stressed out natal planets usually need relief of some kind, and that's what soft aspects provide. A partner that soothes them with at least one soft aspect to this planet is like a balm for them.

Well placed natal planets (in the traditional sense... Well aspected) are usually able to handle the challenge of hard aspects. The thing is though, that well placed planets also like harmony. If they receive a hard aspect in synastry this can be invigorating, like a chance to flex their muscles. However, after a while this can get tiresome if the same types of problems keep coming up, and they miss the simple harmony that they're used to. Well placed planets do best if they also receive some type of soft aspect or conjunction to go with a hard aspect. This gives both the harmony that they like, and a bit of challenge to boot.

Planets that are receiving both hard and soft aspects in the natal chart, can do well with either hard or soft aspects in synastry. They like challenge and stimulation, but also appreciate harmony and ease. Such planets are usually up for handling whatever comes their way. Within reason.

Unaspected planets in the natal can also do alright with either hard or soft aspects in synastry as well. What happens is that they tend to have extreme reactions to any aspect they receive. A trine feels extremely harmonious, and a square feels extremely active and challenging.

Of course these are just general guidelines. Most people have there own inner intuitive sense as to what they need for each planet in their chart regarding synastry. There are all kinds of ways that things can work out.

Saturn squares are best handled by Saturnian people. And yes MilaBirkin, you are Saturnian if you have Sun conjunct Saturn. The same could be said for Plutonian types. They might handle Pluto squares and even thrive on them.

If you tend to be neptunian or Jupiterian, you will not handle Saturn squares very well.

So to answer your question, bad aspects are not bad per se, you have to look at each original chart to see the potential for handling the aspects.

Thanks

I wanted to add that we can worry about the "good" aspects too, if we get bored of worrying about the same old bad aspects.

For instance, regarding Saturn...

My husband has 5H Sag Saturn tighly conjunct my 5H Sag Venus.

You can imagine the dialogue...

Me: You know what would be so fun?!!! We should do this!

Him: No, that's not a good idea...because of this, that, and the other thing, it won't work out.

His Saturn is sextile my Mercury.

So I just nod and say, "Ah, you make sense. I can't argue against that. You're probably right."

Hence, fun cancelled, and I was complicit in the deed. :-/

Not always but often enough.

Oh yeah... Saturn conjunct Venus can be soo harsh. My daughter has her Saturn conjunct my Venus and we do have lots of fun and excitement (her Mars-Uranus conjunct my Mars!) But when she shuts me down it's harsh! Some of the stuff I like has become impossible to do when she's around. So it goes with little ones to some extent but in particular she's got a very verrrry domineering Saturn lol... Saturn - Sun/Jupiter - Pluto/Asc t-square... yeesh.

Yeah of all aspects, I don't know if Saturn conjunctions especially can be sorted into good and bad... the Saturn-Asc conjunction I have with many people in my life as my Asc falls where Saturn was chillin in 83 and some of my dearest friends were born that year.. it's so very hard but so rewarding... And with my daughter... like, her Saturn maybe emulates my Venus, structures and is structured by it. There's this deep seated appreciation Saturn has for whatever it touches... like it makes of it an anchor in the storm... comforted by the Moon, enlivened, delighted by Venus, inspired by the Ascendant... you know.

This is a good point. Some people are able to handle certain hard aspects better then others depending on what planets is involved. I could see how a strongly Neptunian or Jupiterian person would not enjoy Saturn hard aspects. Although you could argue that sometimes they might need some Saturn influence from others to help them cope with reality. Maybe a soft Saturn aspect.

So lovely, how you put that.

I've been Saturn in a Venus-Saturn conjunction before, a few times. I can't even describe the strange magic of it. Perhaps because my Saturn is in the 12H, it locks onto what is spiritual about a person...

One thing I loved about my college boyfriend, whose Leo Venus was conjunct my Saturn, was his obsession with music. He was not emotionally expressive but would just play all these songs. And the songs could be about anything... his music collection was very diverse and universal...rather mysterious. I liked the mystery combined with showmanship..."Come over to my apartment, I have this great song to play for you..."

To get back on topic I have to say, I've had my Venus squared by Saturn before, and that was just painful. Something kept me trying and trying to please Saturn, who was almost never pleased. Yet it was hard to quit trying. I got the sense of, maybe if I just do THIS, it'll work...but it never really did.

As others have said, all significant relationships contain a certain amount of drama-as represented by seemingly harsh synastrical/composit aspects.

The only other thing I'd add to what has been said is that oppositions can at times, form a favourable aspect. For example, I have my Moon, Venus and Asc all in trine to each other. I'm currently potentially interested in someone whose Scorpio Neptune apposes my Venus, thus forming a "grand kite".

It's interesting to read all the comments on the Saturn Venus conjunction in Synastry-her Saturn is conj my Venus.
