From what I gathered:

1) You look at the other's Ascendant and see in which house it falls in. This is the house they are going to activate for you

2) Check the placement of that house's lord in your chart for further clues on how they influence your life

3) Check that planet's position in the D9 chart because that's where it will show the essence.

According to him it's a very simple technique to see how your significant other will/has influenced your life.

He uses Vedic astrology by the way, but you can experiment using both Vedic and tropical methods.

Vedic:
My ASC in Cancer
His ASC in Aries

So he activates my 10th house.
It's true, I have been feeling more ambitious and career oriented since I met him :O

My 10th-lord, Mars sits in Gemini in the 12th.
This isn't particularly a good position for Mars, but it's not bad either.
12th house represents foreign travel, foreign settlements, sub-conscious mind, dream world, spirituality, bed pleasures.

This makes a lot of sense as well. I've been wanting to isolate myself more and travel to distant lands. Plus he has opened up a lot of things regarding my sub-consciousness. Because of him I've found a lot of hidden fears and insecurities within me coming up to the surface. But it's a good thing I guess since its allowing a purging to happen. I also dream of him pretty much every night. That could also be my Neptune conjunct his Moon though. We seem to have a very eerie soul bond.

I, on the other hand, activate his 4th house
His 4th-lord (Moon) sits in the 10th house in Capricorn.

So maybe once we're together he will tend towards domestic affairs more and want to settle down, as well as focus on having a solid, stable career and public image.

his ASC Pisces

So he activates my 5th house.
my 5th house Lord Jupiter sits in Aquarius in 4th house

In Navamsa Jupiter is in Pisces in 5th house

I activate the 9th house for him
Mars in Leo in 6th house (conjunct Jupiter) - probably not a good thing,. 6th house and VEdic and malefic and so on.

In Navamsa his Mars is in Aries in 3rd house (if we use whole sign houses), conjunct Pluto.

Well KRS did mention that it'll take effect once you are married, or atleast living together, since then you will be interacting with each other on a one on basis

My D9 Mars is in Aquarius in 4th.
Here Mars is in a neutral sign but it doesn't do well the 4th.

Mars rules my D9 ASC & 6th house
Mars sits with Moon (9th lord), Moon is a friend of Mars
Mars sits with Jupiter (2nd & 5th lord), Jupiter is a friend of Mars
Mars sits with Saturn (3rd & 4th lord), Saturn is an enemy of Mars

So in essence it'll give me mixed results?

His D9 Moon is also in Capricorn in the 10th house.
This makes his Moon Vargottama (same sign as natal chart), so this is really really good.

His D9 Moon rules 4th house
His D9 Moon is in a mutual aspect with Venus, a friend of Moon
